I've really just noticed this the last few months. Everytime I buy something, I get asked:
Receipt with you or in the bag?
Is this a new thing? I just remember that in the past, the receipt was just placed in the bag.
Anyhow, I always say receipt with me then I put it in my purse (which doubles as my receipt filing system  )
What about you?

It depends on the receipt. Small things and groceries I take in the bag. Large items, or things that I buy to work on the house I keep with me.
Receipts for large items and stuff for the house I tend to keep long-term in case they're needed down the line, and the small items/groceries I typically look over when I get home and open the bag - to check for discrepancies on the bill - but then they go in the trash.

usually w/ me - unless my hands are really full and it's just easier to have them throw it in there for me, and I then put it in my purse later

With me -- my husband has this complicated system of reconciling accounts and storing reciepts. If I lose them, it messes him up.

It just depends on the situation and how full my hands are!

It's always in the bag for me.

With me - we keep track of the credit card stuff on the computer, so James wants to enter them into the computer and if I left it in the bag it would likely just get thrown away.

Usually in the bag unless I need to keep it which I usually don't.

Most of the time is with me but when it is in the bag, I make sure that I take it out as soon as I get home so it doesn't get thrown away.

Really? I've been asked that for years.
I always have them put the receipt in the bag (because my purse is such a junkyard, it'll never be seen again, until it's unreadable! ). DH always wants the receipt with him (but it gets put in his pocket, and promptly taken out and recorded! :) )

It depends on what the receipt is for. If it is something that I need to record or save, I'll throw it in my wallet, if it isn't that important I'll have them throw it in the bag.

Always with me, because I have to write it in my checkbook within 24 hours or thereabouts. I am anal about balancing my checkbook.

I ask for it in the bag unless I am shopping down in the states, then I'll keep them in my wallet to declare at the border.

Depends. If I am buying one thing or it's small I just have it thrown in the bag. Bigger purchases I put it in my wallet. Then they are checked over, saved while I decide if I am going to keep everything and then shredded.

Everything goes in the bag for me except grocery receipts. Those I stick in my purse.
