It's a small world. What interesting "small world" connections do you have?

To answer my own question:
- Jessica and I have lived one town apart our entire lives. We went to the same swim club as children, the same orthodontist, the same mechanic, and never met until we both joined UW and she was my mentor.

- The OB who delivered Sean is the father of three of my mom's former students. He delivered Sean on his 50th birthday.

- One of the nurses in the delivery room when I had Sean is the mom of one of my former classmates where I danced as a young kid/teen.

I'm sure there are more, but it's all I can think of right now.

One of Alyssa's friends knows my brother(s) from college. At least, I think so.

There is a woman on GR that lives in the small (by small I mean less than 800 total population! Plus you have to drive 2 hours or more to get to a gymboree, so GR is a weird person to find someone!) town I grew up in, and owns my favorite ever pizza restaraunt. I also found someone on GR last year that lived in the same apt. complex as us.

Ohh, I've also managed to run into Stass(before moving) just randomly a few times...

I went house hunting in Colorado and met more transplants from Connecticut than I would have ever imagined meeting! The first was at an open house, she was from one town over from me.

A person in my Boston University online course, currently lives and teaches in Wisconsin, grew up in the same home town that I did, she graduated 7 or 8 years ahead of me.

The teacher who taught my father world history in 1966 taught me geography in the 10th grade at an entirely different school.

A woman I work with lived in Las Vegas the same time as I did. We worked at competing TV stations but we know some of the same people.

Another woman I work with once lived in the same town I was born in.

A girl I met on UB lives about 1/4 mile from me. Her son was in my neice's daycare class. her daughter is five days older than Brendan. We have the same hairdresser and pediatrician. We shop at the same grocery store and back in the day we used to compare notes and find we often made the same thing for dinner. She has the same living room furniture and bathroom decor as my sister (who lives halfway between our two neighborhoods). Our husbands have work duties that are on opposite sides of the same task (mine does a lot of work with accounting auditing from an IT prerspective, her husband is an auditor who works ((at a different company)) to get the accounting information out of IT).

Now, we've become friends and do playdates with the kids frequently -- and have absolutely no online connection. And we've signed our little kids up for teh same preschool for next year, but that was an orchestrated coincidence.

When I was summoned for jury duty and called into my case, I ended up being dismissed b/c I knew the plaintiff --I went to HS with her. And court was not in the same county that I went to HS in.

When Aidan was 8 days old, we had to go to the ER because he stopped breathing. The ER doc that treated him was someone that I went to HS with-- I was a year older than him. That was weird (esp. since I was there in my PJs and breastfeeding in front of him).

My husband works in the same practice with a guy I went to HS with, as well.

And my neighbor's brother is married to a girl I went to HS with (and I when I went to HS with her, she was a total drugged up ho, and now she's a born again homeschooler).

A few years ago I was on the MOPS(Mothers of Preschoolers) website, and I found a girl in my area. She said that she was from the town next to mine and I said that my dad grew up there and that my grandparent's still lived there. She told me when she graduated and I asked her if she knew one of my uncle's. Well, turns out she dated my uncle and grew up across the street from my grandparent's and that her parent's and my grandparent's are best friends. Very small world.

When my mom was in the hospital having me the woman having a baby in the next room was her former student. Her daughter and I ended up being best friends (and still are) and still say to this day we say we've been friends since birth. She was only born 6 hours before me.

That's cool.
My grandma's neighbor (who has always been and still is) had her daughter at the same hospital when my mom had me and they were there at the same time. We were born hours apart and attended the same church growing up. We've been friends since, as well.

The doctor who delivered Anna also delivered my brother, 26 years earlier. Different hospital, but the one where my brother is born does not deliver babies anymore.

My friend Kristen's middle son has the same due date as Jackson (11/29) only 2 years later. What's weirder is that both were born 5 weeks early and share a birthday of 10/25.

I used to date Kate's brother Bob when we were in the 9th and part of 10th grade.

A friend of mine's daughter was born on my wedding anniversary and my daughter was born on their wedding anniversary.

When I was 15 I went to America for a student exchange, I was in Seattle, Washington and we went skiing in the Snoqualmi Mountains. I had a ski instructor who was from Chezceslovakia and on the way up on the lift we got talking, I mentioned there were two sisters that came to our school who were refugees from there. He said he knew a family that went to Australia from a refugee camp he was in too. After saying their names, (me saying the first names and him finishing it with their last names) we realised that they were the same people! There I was in America with a Chezc and we knew the same people in Australia! It was pretty far out!

When I was pregnant with Aiden, 2 of my other friends were pregnant too, one due May 1st, I was due May 23rd and the other due June 20th. We all ended up having our kids on the 9th, 10th, 11th May!

I have heaps of these stories, but the two that come to mind are these.

- I met my friend Colette when I moved to Perth. We had lots of things in common. We had both worked for the same company in Europe, we had both moved here from Sydney to live with our boyfriends and we both had Irish parents. One day I noticed a photo at her house of 3 old people and I instantly recognised one of them as a good friend of my parents. I asked her if it was him and she said yes and that he was her uncle! Turns out that my parents and her parents had been friends for years.

- we have lots of ties with Emily's Irish dancing teacher. We actually met years ago when her daughter and Emily were 2 and they went to kindy dance classes together. Emily was born on Eileen's (the teacher) birthday. Eileen and I both moved here from Sydney to live with our boyfriends (seems to be a theme  ), we both have Irish parents and we both went to the same Irish dancing school in Sydney. We know lots of the same people through the Irish dancing community. On top of that her husband and Alex went to high school together! We have a photo from 1985 of them together.

Thought of another one-- my wedding photographer's assistant showed up the day of the wedding and let us know that she had dated Stagg in HS.

One of the nurses at my pediatrician was one of Stagg's nurses when he was a little boy.

Too many to count given how many people I encounter at work. Here are some about DW and I...
DW and I first met 6 years ago...

*She and my sister went to school (several hours away) at the same time (11 years ago), and knew some of the same people, although they didn't know each other.
*DW used to deliver the newspaper to my Uncle when she was ~9yo.
*DW's nextdoor neighbors (growing up) were close friends with my Aunt/Uncle, and had actually started a Dixie band together (20+ years ago).

When I was in HS, I dated a guy who I met during a summer program. He lived 5 hrs from me. He was editor of his HS newspaper sports section. I'd always read articles by his assistant editor. 2 years later, 2 days into college I met that girl, who remains one of my best friends.

Different hospital, but the one where my brother is born does not deliver babies anymore. The doctor who delivered my mom's first baby (me :) ) on Thurs, Aug 23rd - 28 years later, his daughter delivered my first baby on Thurs, Aug 23rd...ok, she was with me most of Aug 23rd and 35 minutes into Aug 24th when my baby decided to arrive - different hospital too, but I went to the practice on purpose

Michele and I are bound to have more small world stuff in common if we talk long enough...we seem to have lots of the same experiences and live relatively close to one another

I was best friends with my husbands best friends sister in 7th grade. We have the same memories, but don't remember each other.

He used to work at the dairy queen by my house.

When i was 15 I was a Nursery Attendant at a church, and come to find out my boss was his Aunt.

All of mine are related to my hubby, it's funny too because we discover more all the time.

I had a friend in highscool that was dating this guy Aaron seriously for a while. He lived several cities away so I did not know anything about him. When I moved to Calgary, I ended dating a guy out there who was from Vancouver as well. His roomate turned out to be Aaron, they had been best friends for years and moved out there together. I moved back to BC and met and started dating Ben, turns out he is Aaron's brother! I had no idea when I met him about the relation. So now, Aaron is my BIL :)

There are sooo many for me. I think because I lived here (where I live now) until I was 5, my parents both lived here their whole lives, we moved to Wrightwood and lived there 16 years and then moved back here...
Some that I can think of off the top of my head that are..
-After dating DH for a few weeks we realized that his brother and my sister had worked at the same car dealership (in the office) for like 2 years and had both just quit!
-DH went to the high school that I would have gone to (my parents were planning to move when I was in 10th grade and didn't end up doing it). We'd have been in the same graduating class (at a small private school).
-DH used to get his hair cut where I worked by a girl named Jenn, who's station was the one next to mine! (His brother and 3 cousins went there as well).
-My dad went to HS with a lady named Nellie, who happens to be one of MIL's good friends from work!.. and my dad used to golf once a week with a guy named Ron, Nellies husband! haha.
-Once on a flight from Burbank to Chicago the man next to me (and his family) and I were talking, turns out he went to HS with my dad. Well, at the same time the guy in front of me turns around and says, what did you say your name was?.. I repeated it and he says, 'oh hey, I'm Josh's best friend. We never did meet before you broke up though, but I heard alot about you!' haha. It was my recent ex (like 2 months prior) bf's best friend!

I just thought of one for dh.
This summer we were at my sisters house an hour away and had been down for my neices' 14th bday party.
We were leaving in the morning when a girl who stayed over, her parents showed up to pick her up and we were all talking the driveway when the father of the girl looked at dh and said "Jim?" and it turned out that Stan & Jim were both from Polish families and lived 4 doors down from each other when Jim's family moved in to the neighbourhood in Toronto. They used to play together all the time & lost touch during their H.S. years.
