Painting Shutters??

Has anyone painted shutters before? We want to change the color of our shutters and front door to black instead of green. I am clueless on how to go about this.

Seriously. Yes, you can paint them, but its a real PITA. New vinyl shutters aren't that expensive.

We priced them and they were about 600.00... We were hoping painting would be cheaper.. You might be right.
