It's the first day of spring! (Well, at least for us on this side of the earth...)

What's the first spring cleaning project you're going to tackle inside? Outside?

I've already started spring cleaning inside by purging etc but the one job I'm dying to do but can't till the weather warms up a bit is cleaning the windows..they are a mess!

A good dusting of the house with the windows open and then probably clean all the windows. BUT that won't happen for two weeks, I"m going out to Colorado next week.

The project I have in the back of my head is that I need to go through all the girls' srtwork from school for the past couple years and whiddle it down to a smaller number of key pieces. The trick is going to be doing it without getting caught by any other member of my family.

There was frost on the grass this morning. :mope: So much for spring!

Inside : Steam cleaning our carpets. We only have the LR and the sunroom to do because the rest of the house isn't carpeted. We come into the house via the sunroom and Keith always wears his shoes :complain: so the floors in there are disgusting.

Outside : I told Keith I was buying him a ladder for Father's Day (and he's really excited about it believe it or not :giggle: )so we can do the gutters. They are full of crap and nasty!

I need to find a replacement for the black vinyl/plastic/whatever ankle-high fence that goes around the garden on the front and side of the house. It just presses down into the soil, and it's gotten flattened over the fall and winter with wind blowing it around, snow pressing down on it, etc.

Inside: The basement finishing should be done Friday. So the basement and garage need to be cleaned / wiped down due to all the dust.

Outside: Justin has to get a tiller and till the ground where some flowers were taken out, and where the tree stumps were ground, and then seed. I will trim the forsythia trees on the side of the yard.

Going through everyone's closets. Especially ours. It's a disaster, and I know there's so much stuff we can get rid of.

Outside is preparing the yard for my garden! I'm so excited! It's my b-day present this year, and my mom has already started seedlings for me to plant in there. That is, whenever the weather decides to cooperate. We're supposed to get 4-6 inches of snow tonight. :dead:

Outside: Our pool is gross and needs lots of help. I hate our pool.

Inside: I still haven't painted Brady's bedroom. It's pastel yellow and white stripes with gingham window shades. We've lived here 7 months now and I really need to get it painted.

Darcy, sorry about the snow. Hopefully it will mix with rain and melt?

Inside: My closet and my bedroom. They are both war zones. I can't bring a baby home this way.

I am lucky enough to have my own closet (we have his and hers) that is about 5' by 20'. It is my own worse enemy. Having too much space has allowed my closet to become the area where unpacked boxes go to die. Things are everywhere, and I need to organize! I plan to redesign the closet and add some custom shelves and drawers and a shoe display. We also need to paint our bedroom and buy new furniture and drapes.

Outside, we need to rent a rototiller to break up the area above our retaining wall. The builder planted the ugliest plants up there, and they are dying. We are planning to plant a flower garden there, and rose bushes in front. I am very excited!

We also need to lay pavers to extend our patio. I need to invite my family down (under the guise of a mini vacation) for help!

It is 39 here today so I am not feeling very springy.

My first project will be to go through Genavieve's closet and pull out things she has outgrown.

Darcy - same here. 3-5". I am beyond pissed. Way to ring in spring

I have a huge list that I've started to tackle- slowly. Next week I am going to do the kitchen - that includes yanking out the fridge and oven, cleaning every little part, nook, and cranny, cleaning walls, and all that good stuff.

I did it! I've cut the amount by abot 2/3, and I can see where I can get rid of more, but I'm not ready yet. Of course, I missed trash pickup, so all that stuff will be sitting in the garbage bin for a week.

Believe it or not, we're almost done with our spring cleaning. The only things we have left are washing all windows, rearrange the kitchen cupboards and getting the carpet cleaned (hopefully next week!!). Other than those 3 there are just a couple of small things that I need to do before the baby comes.. but they're not really 'spring cleaning' stuff.

Oh and so sad for all ofyou who are getting snow... it's 68 already at 9:40am and is supposed to be about 74 today!

Darcy, I feel your pain! I can't even bring myself to THINK about spring yet...we've still got nearly 3ft of friggin snow & more is forcasted :(
Since Brad's been away for work this week I've gotten all my "spring" cleaning done on the main floor & I should be able to finish the bedrooms this afternoon...I'm leaving the basement & bathroom up to him :giggle: Then once its nice enough I want to paint the living room/enterance way/bedrooms...but that's a LONG way off as we're forcasted to be -21 this weekend :(

That's why we got rid of ours. Such a PITA to maintain! We have tons of chemicals left still. Too bad I can't send them to you.

gulp!

Like many of you, it won't be spring here for a good while yet. I cannot WAIT to open the windows!

INSIDE: purge, purge, purge. I've been trying to do it little by little, but so much more could be done. Steam clean the carpets is also up on the list, as is clearing out the basement of a large bunch of stuff we no longer need.

OUTSIDE: I don't have much of a garden space, but I need to clean up our back patio and plan on what plants I need to fill in, and what veggies we'll grow. My real outside challenge will come to the North- I've got a whole acre of land up in Maine to plant, with 6 or 7 planting beds, and I'm starting from scratch b/c the former owner decided to rip out most of the plants when she left. I need to hire someone to help me tackle that huge project!

For me, cleaning out our closet. There are so many of our fall/winter clothes that we don't wear, and haven't worn in years. I want to get it packed up and over to the Salvation Army.

After that, washing curtains, cleaning windows, and a good dusting of the moldings.

Outside is just too big a project to even warrant discussion at this point.:silly:

Spring Cleaning? Not this spring. I'm waiting for my little boy to get here. I am just hoping to get through spring with a shred of sanity.

I echo the closet clean up that so many say. I MUST do this - get the girls closet fully organized/purged. I would like to get some hardware from Lowes, Home Depot, etc., to make the closet in Cain's room more like a "California Closet" b/c right now there is so much wasted space. Finally, I need to go through mine. I will likely throw out/donate 90% of it. I am way way overdue to update my wardrobe, shoes, etc.

Outside, I need to weed and edge the back garden plus get some plants, both annual and some perennials. Same for the front garden. This is all a labor of love for me, it has just been sorely neglected for the past few years.
