Kaden had tubes put in his ears Tuesday and we hadn't tried to wash his hair until today. I bought him some of those putty ear plugs but he will NOT keep them in. He just keeps pulling them out. I haven't tried cotton balls with vasoline but I'm sure he'll do the same thing. I really need to keep his ears dry. HELP!!!! And how do I wash his hair WITHOUT getting his ears wet? He REFUSES to hold his head back. Before his tubes I just quickly poured the water over his head with a cup and let him scream. I can't do that now. HELP!!!

I don't have tubes and never dealt with them but I know my mom used to lay us on the counter top and put our head over the sink and then wash our hair because we hated our ears to get wet. Could you do this?

With Owen we bought him the earplugs and the headband from One Step Ahead. I'd take the headband off long enough to rinse his hair, and then put it back on again. If he even so much as tried to touch his ears, I automatically pulled him out of the tub and told him "No ears, no bath", then put him back in. It wasn't too long before he realized he would get cold and not have any fun playing in the tub if he took his earplugs out.

The One Step Ahead earplugs are much stickier than regular ones and are harder for him to get out.

That's the ear plugs Kaden has but I got them at Wal-Mart. They are the sticky putty ones. I really need one of those bands though. I'm sure he'll pull that off too. I'll try taking him out of the tub like you said. He LOVES to take a bath and I think it wouldn't take him long to figure out that if he doesn't leave his ears alone he won't get to take a bath. Thanks!!

When my son had tubes put in the ENT gave him little pink plugs to put in his ears. They make them in different sizes and they sized him in the ENT office. I would call and get some of those.

He has his follow-up appt on 4-14 and I'm going to ask for him to be fitted for his own set of ear plugs.
