1. Open the image you need resized in Paint Shop Pro
2. If your image contains a lot of wasted space, use the crop tool now to chop it down to the essential parts. The crop tool looks like this http://www.onceuponalife.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1136&stc=1 If you click and then drag, it will make a rectangular selection. Double clicking on the selection will cause the rest of the image to be discarded.
3. On the top menu, go to Image, then Resize

4. Choose Pixels and set the length of the longest side as 400 pixels or less for a regular attachement, or 80 pixels or less for a profile pic. When you change the size in one box, it should automatically change in the other. This is good. It stops your image being stretched out of shape. If Lock Aspect Ratio is unticked, then your image's proportions aren't being maintained and some of your pictures may come out looking funny (examples below)

5. Go to the top menu again, this time choose File, and Save As.
