Kaden will be 2 on the 19th and up until a couple of days ago was a GREAT sleeper. We have always been able to put him in his crib with his bottle, paci and blanket and he would just put himself to sleep. A couple of nights ago I put him to bed as usual and he went nuts!! He was screaming his lungs out and standing up. He refused to lie down and kept saying "Up!" He ended up sleeping with my MIL until she was able to put him in his crib, asleep, at 2am. Yesterday he refused to take a nap in his crib and slept for about 20 minutes in the dining room floor. Last night, as soon as he seen his crib he started screaming and crying and refused to even stand in it. He ended up sleeping with us. This afternoon I tried to put him down for a nap and he did the same thing as last night. I had to lay down with him in my bed for over and hour before he went to sleep.
Is it time to give up the crib? He wants NOTHING to do with it. I hate the thoughts of putting him in a bed at 2 because I know he will NEVER stay in it. Olivia was never like this and she slept in her crib until she was 3. HELP!!!! I just wonder why the sudden hate for his crib. He was fine until just 2 days ago.

Sounds like maybe it is time to ditch the crib! We converted Brookelyn's to the toddler bed when she was about 16 months. She slept wonderfully in it. We did put the baby gate up when we went to bed so that she couldn't leave her room. When she woke up she'd either play in her room or call for us...

I'd give it a bit and see if it is just a stage. It could be he just doens't want to go to sleep...anywhere.

Anna was 21 months old when she "asked" for a big girl bed. She would go to sleep fine, but wake up an hour later and refuse to go in the crib. As soon as moved her to a mattress on the floor, she slept straight through the night again.

We moved Nathaniel to a toddler bed before his 2nd birthday because he starting climbing out. It was a difficult transition but we had no choice.
I bought Jessica a toddler bed and she prefers the crib.
Can you get a toddler bed and have both the crib and bed available so he can choose???

Can you think of anything that may have happened while he was in the crib to cause him to get upset? Maybe a nightmare or maybe he hurt himself?

Nothing has happened to him while he was in the crib, as far as I know. That's why this is so frustrating. He was fine one day and now he REFUSES to sleep in his crib at all.

Actually he has a full size bed in his room already. I'm thinking I may go today to try to find him some bed rails to put up so he won't fall out.

I moved Sarah out of hers this past summer at not quite 2.5 because she started climbing things (not her crib, but I figured that was next). She had very little trouble moving to a bed. She actually has a queen because that's what was in the spare room. She loves the extra space. Thankfully she can't open the door yet, so she stays in her room when she wakes up. If she does figure out how to open the door, I'll just gate the hallway.
Anyway, we have these. The setup was pretty easy and so far they're still working very well!

The reviews weren't great but we honestly haven't had any trouble with them whatsoever!

I put Kareem in a toddler bed at 15 months because he started climbing out of the crib.
He loved it, and actually stayed in the big boy bed (for the most part).
