Ok, something happened at work lastnight(this morning) this is still bothering me this afternoon..
There is a girl at work that everyone knows is a little strange she's nice enough I guess but strange..

so we're making small talk about Christmas and she asks what I got Cass for Christmas so I tell her some gift cards and her tatoo will be the main gift..so she asks how much I plan on spending ( :wtf: ) I tell her it shouldn't be more than $80 so she starts showing me all her tatoos and how much they cost so she then starts to roll up her sleeve to show me one tatoo and I notice the whole forearm ( from elboy to wrist) is completely COVERED with red welts/scratches..
this is where "my bad" comes in.. I gasp in horror and ask her what the hell happened to her arm..when it dawns on me..she's a cutter :duh: yeah ok so I quickly try to change the subject..she rolls her sleeve down and say's something like "oh it's nothing" but here is the thing.. ummm why would she show me that tatoo knowing her arm was cut up and umm was my reaction bad :blush: I mean, I'm sure one of you would have done better than me and just not said anything once you clued in that she had done it to herself..:dunno: I just feel bad now..I know she's moved on and couldn't care less but I wish I could control my emotions :lol: I swear I should never play poker 'cause I'd lose everytime..no poker face here :lol:
WWYD in that situation? should I have said something about her cutting? told her to stop or mind my own beez wax?

I think your reaction was normal - most people's first reaction wouldn't be "oh, she must have done it herself!" because that's just not an expected thing, at least in my world. However, now that your awareness is out there, it's not your place to talk to her about it or the like; you're a coworker, not a mental health professional.

Yeah, my reaction would have been probably the same as yours. I'm not used to being around cutters...so, it would've taken me a minute to "digest" too.

ITA with Anne too, I wouldn't say anything...unless she specifically spills her heart out to you. Then, and only then, I would say something to human resources about getting counseling for her. Maybe.

I wouldn't give it a second thought, she has done it to herself and if she doesn't want to deal with reactions like that then she shouldn't have shown you her tattoo where it would expose it all.

Thanks for the replies..dh laughed at me when I told him how I reacted ..he said he would have just looked and ignored it..that's just me..not that I'm nosey it's just the way I am..I've put my foot in my mouth many a times :blush:
