Well, I almost won $5,000,000 today!! I went and checked a lottery ticket that was sitting in my wallet for a few weeks and it turns out I had 5 out of 6 numbers!!! If I had gotten that last number I would have been 5 million dollars richer, because I didn't I am only $1,118.40 richer. OK, I am not scoffing at the thousand dollars but my heart skipped a beat when the reality that if I just got the number 35 on my ticket instead of 13 I would have hit the jackpot!!
So what have you been close to doing? Have you almost won a contest or prize. Or even almost been in a car accident if you were a few minutes earlier? What have you "almost" done?

We had the same situation a couple of years ago. Alex checked the ticket and thought that we had 6 numbers. He calmly passed me the ticket and asked me to check, but we only had 5 numbers. For 5 minutes he thought we were millionaires  We still ended up with a couple of thousand dollars out of it, but not nearly as exciting as the big one would have been
Congrats on the win! :woo:

Yeah I know, it has come at a great time of year, the funny thing is, it's almost the exact amount we paid for Jacob's surgery on Monday, no word of a lie, the surgery cost $1,111.25, I do get about $500 back from my health insurance and medicare on that amount, but I will be out of pocket about that amount for the anaethesist (spelling) so the winnings literally made the surgery look like it didn't even happen in our bank book!!!!!

ACK! that would have been way worse, to think you were millionares then for that to come crashing down would suck! Atleast I was non the wiser. Just walking around with a $1000 ticket in my wallet and acting like it was a simple piece of paper

Deb, well at least that you aren't "paying for the surgery" the lotto is. Yeah, surgeries are so farking expensive. I saw the bill from mine, :woa: TG for medical insurance. The brace for my leg was $1100. :faint:

Yeah it's unbelievable isn't it. Thankfully health insurance pays for 100% of the hospital stay, that was the bill just for the surgeon!

About 6 years ago I ate a KFC and received a scratch ticket with the meal. I randomly scratched 3 numbers and won nothing so I scratched them all just to see what was behind the others. 3 were for $100,000. All you needed was 3 of the same, so I also was close to winning big, it kind of sucked for a bit then I got over it

I have never almost won anything. I've never won anything either  Congratulations Deb, what a lucky thing that the surgery was paid for by the lottery!!
