Time for lucky #13. Should we all re-introduce ourselves or do we all know each other so well that it isn't necessary???

I'll start.
My name's Amanda. I'm about to turn 36. My husband is Tom and he's 38. We have female-factor infertility (that just means it's my fault  ). I have a variant of PCOS. I don't ovulate on my own. Even so we've managed to produce 2 lovely children: Nathaniel, age 3.5, product of IVF and Jessica, age 19 months, product of injectibles + IUI. I've done a grand total of 9 cycles of clomid, 5 cycles of injectibles + IUI, 1 IVF, and 1 FET. I've also had 2 chemical pregnancies (early m/c) and I lost a vanishing twin.
I'm CD 13 on menopur - an injectible. I had an u/s today and have a 17mm follicle on the right side. I'm waiting for my estrogen results but I'll probably trigger tonight for an IUI on Sunday (I might trigger tomorrow and IUI on Monday).
I hope this new thread brings happiness and healthy babies!

I can't believe I'm still here for another round of this thead. :disbelief Oh well....it is what it is! :)

I'm Shannon and I just turned 40. My DH is Paul and we've been married for 7 years. We have a gorgeously perfect ( :awink: ) son named Alex, who will be 4 next month. We've been trying for another child since May, 2005....with limited success.
I've actually been pg 3x since we started trying, and lost all of them. The first loss was 10/05 at 6 weeks; the second was 11/06 at 10 weeks; the last one was 7/07 at 4 weeks (prob. chemical).
I saw an perinatologist (high-risk pg doc) with a boat-load of blood test results ordered by my OB in August. The results? There's no medical reason why I don't have another baby right now. Everything was perfect. The most likely reason why I keep losing my babies is because both DH and I are quite advanced, reproductively. Eggs are getting fertilized, but there's stuff wrong with them and they don't go on to be healthy babies. At least I have living proof that I *can* produce a healthy child! :aok: That gives me hope. :)

After 2.5 years, however, I'm getting tired. :( Paul and I have done a lot of talking about the possibility of Alex being an only. That breaks our hearts....but we also have to face reality. Paul's on board with whatever I want to do. I've decided that having an end date makes me feel better emotionally....like there's a light on the horizon and I won't have to stare at baby stuff that I can't use indefinitely. So, I've decided that if I'm not pg by Alex's 5th bday (I'll be 41 then), I quit. I'll wait until my MOM's Club consignment sale to get rid of everything the next spring. That'll make 4 years of TTC and I'll be almost 42. To me, that seems like a fair shot.....esp. since there's nothing I can do except pray every month, KWIM?

Anyhoo.....that was probably A LOT more involved than anyone wanted to read, but there you are! :) For now.....release the swimmers!! :cheer:

Okay....let the madness begin!

I'm only 5dpo, so this is probably something else causing this. But....I have a MAD craving for......vienna sausages!! :heee: I bought a can on my break today, and I want another one. :shuffle: They're horrible for you though, so I'm not giving in....but still! I can't even remember the last time I ate one of these things!

Deb - Vienna sausages are these little hot dog-type meat sticks that come in a little can. They're really awful for you....and lots of people hate them....but for some reason I had an insane craving for them yesterday. :dunno:

Of course, I asked my psychic 3yo this morning if there was a baby in tummy.....nope. He's been right every time so far! We'll see if his streak continues.... It's still early though....I'll ask again in a few days. :heee:

Jackie, congratulations!

And Amanda, yay for the sore butt! I have a feeling everything will line up perfectly for you this cycle.

I'm not up to much. I had to check here to see what day I am! FF wouldn't tell me! :snob:

Not much to my story, but I'll do a short intro anyway:

I am 33, my fiance is 34, and I am trying for my #3. This will be his first. I had my first two young (21 and 23), and I having been trying this time since March. I think. I am a bit impatient and I thought it would have happened before now. I *think* I am just dealing with declined fertility issues, but not sure. I went to an RE for a work up and my numbers were perfect. We'll see. I am currently TAB for family reasons, but still here to track my cycle and cheer my friends on.

Alyson

Well, after a horrible night of crying and confusion I went today and filled the clomid prescription. Not sure if it is ok to take it a day late or not, but I'm just gonna do it. CD1 was kinda just iffy and spotty anyway, not full AF so I'm hoping that this will be ok as CD5 or whatever.

Amanda.. I'm glad you have a sore butt!!;) For a good reason:) I'll be praying for you:)

schwanda
September 16th, 2007, 04:52 PM
Kika - I'm thinking of you and everything your family is going through right now.
Alyson - You can definitely start the clomid a day late. Some doctors give it starting CD 5 and others CD 3. There's a range!

I'm feeling crampy and pre-O.

Yeah Amanda, that is good to hear:) Thanks for telling me.
Our sermon in church this morning was on the first chapter of the book of Luke. It was sooo hard to sit through beacause our pastor was talking about being 'baren' and women who struggle with getting pregnant. Of course I could TOTALLY relate and thought of all of you. He prayed at the end for all of us who are struggling with it. It was such a great sermon, I think I may buy the cd at our church, just to listen to and remind me! I had to really hold back tears the whole time though. I didn't stay after to talk to some friends either, I went straight to the car and broke down completely, while Matt went to get Brookelyn.

I have felt iffy at times today. Of course, with my history, that means nothing. Oh, and I asked Alex yesterday (and just now) if there was a baby in my tummy....and he said yes!! :heee: Man, I'll grasp at just about anything, won't I?

stop in quick to sub :)

and do a intro

Hey I'm Rachel (32) married 6 years in Oct
finally after 5 long years and 3 m/c and the s/b of our daughter Katy to NTD anecephaly we gave birth to the most perfect incredible ( a little biased I think) little man who will be 1 next tuesday :faint: where this year has gone I do not know
anyway we have been TTC since Dec 06 9 cycles and this cycle we have decided to give clomid ago

my first m/c was a natural conception as was Katy the other 2 m/c were 3rd cycle each of 50mg clomid Jack was 2nd cycle clomid :) so hoping clomid does its trick

Alyson - I'm glad the sermon was good. One of the readings for Rosh Hashanah is about Hannah who was barren and finally gave birth to Samuel who was an important figure in the Old Testament. It always makes me cry, too!
Shannon - I hope Alex is right! And :giggle: about the hot dog...
Deb - You're trouble!!!
Haydee - Thanks! How are you feeling?
Rachel - Hopefully the 1st cycle of clomid will be the magic one this time!

My IUI is in a few hours. I'm running conference this morning which is from 7-10am so then I'll run off to my IUI.

Good luck with the IUI Amanda.

My Intro:
I just turned 35 in July. DH is 37. We have been married 7 years this November. We TTC our ds January 2001 and got our first bfp in April 2001. Fast forward to October 2003. We decided to TTC for our second. Late March early April I got a bfp that ended with an eptopic pregnancy and resulted with a d&c and removal of my right tube on May 8, 2004 at 9 weeks. We waited until July to start TTC again. November 2006 I started clomid 50mg and tried that for 6 months with nothing. My doctor has recommended IUI but due to no money that's not an option for us. We are currently OTL. Not really trying but not preventing. It's been a long 4 years but I know that when the time is right it will happen. I don't know when we will throw in the towel...it just doesn't feel right at this time so we will continue.

I know that 13 is my lucky number so hopefully this is the thread that I will be able to post my bfp in. Good luck to everyone!!! It's definitely been a long journey!

What in the heck is my chart doing??? :wtf: Up, down, up, down......what does it all mean??? I want it to just go way up...and stay up there! :heee:

I've been having lots of dreams about my mom lately. :) I figured if she came to visit me, it would be us talking about spiritual stuff on a garden bench, kwim? Nope. Last night, we were in an office with cubicles. I was kinda new and cleaning up my cubicle, and I noticed my mom in another cubicle at the end of another row (she was yelling at me to get my attention). I went over and talked with her and she told me about all the adjustments she had to make and all the new things to get used to in that company. It was nice and relaxed and there were lots of smiles. :) Alex says she comes to visit him a lot..... :)

Anyhoo.....still praying those are wacky, vivid pg dreams.........

haydee

I just have to say that it's unbelievable to see so many sad stories of women ttc. Not one intro has gone without stating some kind of problem.... no one seemed to have had a free ride....

My mom said to me the other day that she's pretty sure that "fertility problems" weren't as bad in her youth as it is now. We're wondering if it could be with all the technological changes, kwim.... fast food, processed food, earth not being replenished, crops being sprayed with chemicals, exposure to toxins in the air etc... When I went to see the dietician for pregnancy diet she gave me a list of stuff to avoid. I was stunned at how many products contained the stuff that could be potentially harmful. We had to give almost 75% of our entire grocery cupboard away!

I tend to think that decades ago, people weren't expose to all the junk we are....

Amanda good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

Haydee one of the reason people think fertility issues is new thing or more common now adays is we are not scared to talk about it, I know my MIL had problems conceiving my SIL, but its all :shhh: hush hush we dont talk about that sought of stuff:rolleyes:

even now she gets all uncomfortable if I talk about seeing my RE and clomid :loser:

I also have a aunt who is like that its all brushed under the carpet, so anyway my mine point was more people do talk about the fertility issues which is why the rate seems higher same with m/c its not some big shame now, (not that it was but...........)

WTG Tom :rahrah: I bet that made him feel very manly :giggle:

I have to agree with Rachel, I think it was more hush hush back then. I know my mother had trouble conceiving me. It took them 3 years after getting pregnant straight away with my sister. They found my father had a varicose cell and the month other he was operated on I was conceived. This is not common knowledge to everyone, just something my mother has told me about how I came about.

Rach :hug99: I've been through that too. :) It's been moreso on Paul's part though.....if he has a big project....or a migraine....or whatever, he's much less in the mood. I have to work pretty hard if one of those circumstances falls during our "magic week".

So....lots of AF cramps yesterday...accompanied by a big drop in temp. Plus....I have been having the weirdest dreams! All of them memorable too! Last night, I dreamt that we bought a new house and moved in. The weird thing is that this house was one I dreamt about months and months ago! In that previous dream, we were thinking of buying it; in this dream last night, we took the plunge! I was trying to get stuff unpacked, but I had to go to work and I was very resentful of having to leave my house to do something I didn't want to do. :( Then, at the end, I looked down and I had a little tummy! And then a voice told me that it would keep getting bigger.

Then, last night, Alex and I were looking through his baby pictures cuz I need to bring one for his preschool class today. :) He saw the pictures of me pg with him and the u/s pics of him. I told him that's how he looked when he still lived inside my tummy. I then asked if that's how the baby inside my tummy now would look, and he said yes. :heee:

We'll see what happens. Amanda...I hope you'll join me on the wait-to-test boat. :awink:

Thanks so much Sandy.

Ok.. I think that last night I had the first side effects of clomid.. Holy cow! I was at a friends and everyone was freezing and I started literally sweating!! I was sooo hot, then it went away, then it came back and so on. Yuck, weird! I could do without that!!

I also found out yesterday that Matt's cousin was taking clomid when she got pregnant with her twins!!..ahhhh!! And, she said that almost every woman in her 'twins momsgroup' was taking clomid when they got pg with their twins too!! Yikes!

MrsPeacefrog
September 19th, 2007, 07:42 PM
I wouldn't worry too much about the twin thing, it's only a 10% chance, I wouldn't start worrying unless it was a 50/50 thing. I used to get hot flushes with clomid too, I hated it! But it was well worth it cause it gave me my first two children!

Yeah, I think I'm going to wait and take it before bed from now on. The hot flashes were horrible!

I'm really not worried about the twins thing. I actually don't think I'd even mind. I also read that it's like a 5-10% chance.. but it just seems that over half of the people that I've talked to now all have twins after being on clomid lol. :)

Not as antsy as usual. I may not even test until the morning of my beta (I refuse to wait for that fateful phone call without knowing what to expect). I reserve the right to change my mind. :giggle:
My progesterone was only 8.3. Nobody actually knows what a progesterone should be at 3 DPO but that seems a little low so I'm starting progesterone suppositories.

Amanda, i read in the IVF thread about you not testing and had to re-read-I thought my eyes were failing me lol... I guess in the end, do what feels right for you-we, the hormonal women, are all about the emotions at hand... so if you want to wait and not POAS, do that.... I know i probably wouldn't be able to hold out, but i'm just not very patient....

Lena - I'll probably cave, to be honest. I have a couple of HPTs in the house but they aren't the super-sensitive kind so I'm not tempted to test very early with them. For some reason I'm feeling a little less optimistic than usual so that may be why I'm not psyching myself out too much (yet!).

I did not temp today. Nikita is on his own time schedule, was up at 4 am again, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.... so we've been playing downstairs for 2.5 hours..... Either way, we'll probably start BDing around CD14-15 and go for at least a week to make sure we don't miss O..

Thanks, Haydee. :) That's pretty encouraging!!

I've been having the weirdest dreams..... In the past week, I've had 2 dreams where I've re-visited another dream I've had, and I've recognized that the dream people, house, etc. are from an earlier dream while I'm dreaming! In fact, last night, it happened where I was in one of these dreams....and then the woman in my dream showed me something....that I recognized from yet another dream. Freaky.....

Temps still up....fingers still crossed. I haven't had any burning desire to test yet, so I'm waiting. :heee: My temps are the highest they've ever been, so I'd expect them to start plummeting tomorrow in prep for AF's arrival on Monday......if that's what's going to happen.

Shannon, I always have terrible cramps before a bfp. I always thought AF was coming, but no......I hope yours stays away.

How is everyone else feeling?

I think I have some sinus thing. My head hurt so bad last night that I could not get comfortable enough to sleep. I was nauseated beyond belief, and then I vomited and felt better. I fell asleep right away then. I feel 100% better today. I think stress and feeling sick has thrown off my cycle a bit. AF was due yesterday. I think. But since I didn't chart this month, I really don't know.

Girlo
September 23rd, 2007, 01:17 PM
Kika... :hug99: I can't even fathom the amount of stress you're under these days. :hug99: I'm always praying for it all to get better soon. Hey - I still need your address so I can send Kareem a postcard from here! :)

I had another weird dream last night. :heee: I dreamt that I saw Pam Anderson. She was wearing a blue suit and said she had a business degree and she was on her way to Boston for a business meeting. Of course, she wasn't Pam Anderson in my dream....she just looked like her.
Anyhoo.....she asked me what I really wanted from life. I started telling her about my goals from when I was in college and then about wanting to get an MLS. Then, I thought for a moment and told her that what I appreciated most about my work situation now was that it allowed me to leave work at work and focus on my family, and what I really wanted most of all was another baby.
After that it all got weird - I followed her to her house, which was actually a commune. Her daughter was helping another woman sew. There's more weird stuff after that, but it wouldn't make much sense if I wrote it here. :giggle:

I took my temp this morning....and it went up!! :heee: I convinced myself that it was a good sign (although I was tempted to wait until tomorrow, just in case). I did the deed....and........

No blood test. If this baby's going to stick and grow, it'll do so whether I know if my #'s are doubling or not, KWIM? I know the things to watch out for with a m/c, so I'll be keeing an obsessive look on those and waiting for the magical u/s that will tell me my baby passed into the fetus realm okay. :)

Plus, I'll be calling my midwife again for care, so I don't want my OB thinking she's "got the job" by going to her for blood tests.

If there's one thing the past 2.5 years have taught me - this process is mostly out of my hands. All I (we) can do is put all the components in the right place at the right time. What happens next (and continues to happen) has almost nothing to do with me (providing I lay off the H  ). All I can do is sit back, take good care of myself, and hopefully I'll be meeting my little ball of sunshine in late spring. :)

I'm here. I'm CD15 today and we started BDing today.. I'm still a bit sick... and can't seem to temp b/c either i wake up at 5:30 and can't go back to sleep, or Nikita does. Doesn't really matter, I guess, since I know roughly when I should O...

I was really weak and in bed all day on Sat. On Sunday, we had ppl come over for family support about my Dad...and i was on my feet all day but felt ok. Yesterday and today still feeling unglued...it comes and goes..i'm fine, then i get the worst headache or nausea, feel weak...then i'm ok again..... not sure if it's just leftovers, or really coming down with flu or smth....... but the action is on!

I have to admit... sometimes I miss the craziness of ttc...it was nice to know exactly what's going on in your body and where you're at. Now I live from 4week u/s to the next 4week u/s, hoping and praying that everything inside is going like clockwork.

And I have to admit.... our sex life is not close to what it used to be when we were trying! But it doesn't seem to bother DH too much, probably 'cause he's been working his butt off.

The other morning I took my temp just for fun... Yeah, I know, I'm loosing it!

Amanda: That is great that you haven't been tempted to test yet. I say if you are going to test do it Monday. ;)

Kika: Sorry af showed up...meanie!

I think that about covers everyone. As for me..I am hanging in there. Just waiting until af shows up on my doorstep. Something like 5 days. :dunno: It's been really nice not temping or charting just taking it easy and making sweet love to my man! :woo:It's a wonderful change of pace!!

Thanks, Deb.

I'm feeling totally lousy today, but not because I'm sick... I was feeling so empty and depressed last night, I had a bit too much wine while watching a movie with DH...It did its' job and took my mind off my Dad. Throwing up after too much alcohol has actually never happened to me before, and man was i feeling horrible. I didn't wake up once after i went to bed, but at 5:30-DING! I'm up. Stupid time change... i've been up at 5:30 or earlier every day since we got back...sheesh.

So totally and absolutely no :brow: for me this morning  , but hopefully tonight.....

Veronica: Welcome!

Lena, I am sorry you are not feeling well. I bet it is probably stress (and your body reacting to everything that is going on). Let's have a virtual Starbucks date...I am going to go pick one up and reminisce...You do the same, K?

Shannon, I am still praying!

Amanda, you have more strength than I do...I think I would be testing by now...

I am totally NOT sad about getting AF. She was 1-2 days late, and after I got the sinus infection and threw up, I panicked. I always get a respiratory infection (either sinus or pneumonia) when I am newly pregnant. No idea why. And vomiting was the icing on the cake. I was not ready to be pregnant, and a little worried about negotiating m/s and taking care of Kareem during his chemo and upcoming radiation. His radiation starts in 3-4 weeks, and it will be daily for 7 weeks.

I just wasn't sure I could handle all that.

And because I always get pg when I am not ready to be, I was sure I was in trouble....

So I actually exhaled when she showed up.

I may chart every other month just to make sure my insides still work. But I am holding off on ttc until things settle down a bit.

Deb, how are you holding up?

Haydee, I totally understand you missing ttc. We just moved into our new house, but I still check the real estate listing. I have no idea why! I guess I miss the rush...

Hi Melissa, Alyson, and Rachel. I hope all is well...

Deb - I can't believe your baby will be here so soon!
Lena - I'm sorry. I know that sometimes a good drink (or 3 or 4) can really help get your mind off things.
Alyson - I totally understand the "required" BDing.
Haydee - You're too funny.
Kika - I understand. I'm sorry you're dealing with this.

Would the hcg shot still be in your system at this point??

It's possible but not likely. Last cycle I was using the super-sensitive tests (I got a :bfp: even when my beta was only 7!) and the hcg shot was gone by 7 DPIUI. These tests are not very sensitive (I'm not sure if they're 25 or 50) so I doubt they could pick up traces of hcg left over. I'll probably test again Saturday....

We haven't BDed in 2 days... i just haven't felt ok physically...and emotionally. I should still be ok for O, but have no idea as i haven't tempted this month. Today is our 4 year anniversary, so i'm sure that after yummy romantic dinner i'm making, there will be some :brow: so hopefully we catch O!

I've been very slack about the whole baby thing this month.. obviously, with my Dad's death, i just can't think about normal things in life right now.... and if it happens this month, ok then.. if not, i'd probably prefer it that way, as I'd like to lose another 10 lbs or so (well, i'd like to lose 30, but not realistic unless it takes us a long time to get pg, which it probably won't...this is a third cycle already, with N, it was 5, and 2 out of them i was sick) before the next cycle...i feel like such a cow for gaining 6 lbs in Russia.

Alex looked at the baby and told his friend that he had a little brother. Soph said "No you don't!" and Alex told her "Yes I do, he's in my mommy's tummy!". Of course, Soph countered with the obvious fact that the baby doesn't go into the mommy's tummy until it starts getting bigger. Touche!

Nope. I used the same brand from the same box. Of course sensitivities can vary for stick to stick. And a beta of 37 on 11 DPIUI is perfectly normal. I'm just obsessing because I just had a chemical pregnancy so I'm convinced this is another one....

Ok..this is what's going on with me. I have been having very vivid sexual dreams..I mean I can "feel" what is going on. However, with that said today I am slightly cramping...so I don't know if my dreams just mean that I need to get some (or if I need to stop looking at pictures of Nikki Sixx :giggle: ) The last time I had dreams this realistic I was pg. Soo trying not to get my hopes up...but it has to be my turn soon right???

Good luck today Amanda!!! I just know that you are going to get your bfp!

As for me af is still away..but I feel extra bitchy today so she's probably on her way.

Let me vent for one second. I hardly ever where perfume. Today I sprintz a little on me and come to work. Now I sit in a row where most of the girls are smokers so I have to endure the stale cigarette smoke that reeks off them every day (and don't say a word). However, today I come in and this old heifer next to me complains that my perfume is strong and stinks. I wanted to beat the shit out of her. I am still pissed!!! No matter how smelly my perfume may be it smells 1000% better than her stale stank ass cigarette stank!!! :furious: Not a good way to start my day!!!!

haydee
October 1st, 2007, 07:44 AM
I can't believe it Melissa!!

You know what I would do?? I would go back to work the following day without perfume, terrible garlic breath, clothes smelling like sweat... stand at her desk and ask her if it's better?

Seriously...I would do that...

MamaGoofy
