Swallowed a loose tooth!

Caroline's bottom right tooth finally gave way today - unfortunately it happened while at lunch, which means she SWALLOWED it. Is this a problem? I would think that the edges are slightly sharp, but that if it didn't hurt initially it probably won't be a problem at this point. DH is freaked out because he found a website that says it is a dental emergency and the doctor should be alerted right away, but I think if it was so urgent the pediatrician would have called me back immediately!

(and we already reassured her that we can write a note to the Tooth Fairy to explain what happened!)

Tylor swalled one once and the dentist told me that it was fine. He would be fine and may pass it :lol: He too wrote a letter to the tooth fairy and still got his money :lol:

Okay, I have answers, just in case anyone should happen to search on this topic. My best effort to be helpful! :)

Dr. L reports that yes, as long as the kid didn't choke on the tooth, and as long as it didn't hurt going down (i.e., damage to the esophagus) then it should pass through without incident. She said I could prove my parenting mettle if I wanted by "searching" for it - I said :errr: I"ll happily take her word for it!

She was INCONSOLABLE. Floods of tears. "How will the Tooth Fairy know that it really happened?" So we wrote the Tooth Fairy a note explaining what happened, and TF wrote back that hey, accidents happen, no big deal - she'll be back for the next one. :giggle:

This is what probably happened to Carter. It was his second tooth that he lost. We really have no clue where it went. We just wrote the tooth fairy (who btw, is really a tooth DUDE) a letter and it was no problem.
