Is this the first year on the bus? Dylan is now riding the bus again to Jr. High. She hasn't rode a bus since 1st grade.
What time does the bus come to pick them up? 7:20am
How far from the house is the stop if it's not at the front door? About 2 blocks, it picks up in front of the elementary school.
Were/are they nervous about riding the bus? She was, but now she gets to oogle at Zach, an 8th grader that is 'so hot'.
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus? No, except if Zach starts oogling back.

Is this the first year on the bus? No, Jack took a bus to kindergarten too.
What time does the bus come to pick them up? 7:45
When do they get dropped off? 2:30
How far from the house is the stop if it's not at the front door? Front door.
Were/are they nervous about riding the bus? Nope, Jack has loved it from day 1.
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus? This year, it's a big school bus, more kids on it. Last year it was a small bus & I really loved the driver & the attendant. I guess I just have to get used to the change. Jack doesn't seem to mind.

Is this the first year on the bus? Riley's the only kid I have bussing this year. It's her first year.
What time does the bus come to pick them up? She's in afternoon K, and it's scheduled for 12:36pm
When do they get dropped off? It says 4:08, but it's usually 4:15
How far from the house is the stop if it's not at the front door? About 12-15 houses away on the corner. We are on a cul-de-sac. Luckily we are long time friends with the people on the corner (she and David worked together 18 years ago!) so we sit in her yard and talk with her while waiting for the bus.
Were/are they nervous about riding the bus? She was traumatized by the lack of seatbelts and came home the first day and said "I'm going to die on the school bus!"
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus? She had a little boy poke her hand with a pencil  but I called the school and the bus driver heard about it, apologized to us, and the boy has to ride in the front of the bus now. I really hate the no seat belt thing. In Indiana you have to be in a booster seat until you are EIGHT, unless you ride a bus, then you don't even have to wear seat belts????

Is this the first year on the bus? Yes
What time does the bus come to pick them up? It used to be 7:37 am, but starting tomorrow, it'll be 7:45 am. I'm thankful for the extra few minutes.
When do they get dropped off? 3:40ish
How far from the house is the stop if it's not at the front door? It's our driveway. :aok:
Were/are they nervous about riding the bus? No, she was excited.
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus? No, not really. As long as the driver seems capable, and the kids all seem to be behaving, I'm good. We only live a mile from the school, and there are four kids who get on at our bus stop. I think it's fine.

Is this the first year on the bus?-Nope, Paige has been going on the bus since pre kindergarden
What time does the bus come to pick them up? The bus is supposed to come at 10 after 8 in the morning..he came at 8:30 yesterday
When do they get dropped off? her drop off time is 4:50pm!
How far from the house is the stop if it's not at the front door? They used to pick her up at our driveway last year but this year it's a new company and it's supposed to pick her up infront of the house but the problem is the front of the house doesn'thave the drivewy so it's on a busy street! dh went to the school today to fill out forms(again!) to get the stop changed to our driveway :crossfing:
Were/are they nervous about riding the bus? She's not nervous about it..but this was the first year she goes on it alone, meaning without Cass who used to take this bus and then transfer to the highschool..
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus? My concern is that they can't seem to find bus drivers that are smart enough to know the route..we've had 5 different bus drivers last year when our reg driver quite 2 months before school ended..Cass called me last year from the bus at 9:30 am( they should have all been to school way before then!) to tell me the driver was lost and had circled a survey 4 times! that was the first and last time we had that one  now this bus driver doesn't seem to speak english!! :tearhair: I'm going to call the bus company tomorrow to find out wtf they are thinking!

From what I understand in safety tests they determinned that there is a greater risk of not getting all the kids off the bus fast enough if they are seatbelted in after an accident if there is fire than there is in kids being injured on a bus in an accident without a seatbelt...comforting, huh?

Is this the first year on the bus? Yes
What time does the bus come to pick them up? It's supposed to be 8-8:05. Today was 8:07 - which was 5 minutes earlier than Tuesday and 15 minutes earlier than last week.
When do they get dropped off? 3:35-3:40
How far from the house is the stop if it's not at the front door? It's our driveway.
Were/are they nervous about riding the bus? No, and it's become Aidan's favorite part of the day.
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus? I hate the lack of seatbelts and there's always the concern of an accident...but that's a constant concern. The bus did nearly forget to drop him off on day 2 (backed up 50 feet after our house) and completely forgot on day 3 (had to circle around the corner or something) but as she says, "We always bring 'em back." It's a small town, so that is less worrisome to me too. (Versus having him end up far away before they discovered something like that.)

Yesterday we missed our bus(we were driving her to school anyway) and when we dropped Paige off we went to find our bus to talk to the driver( he showed up after we left..that's how late he was!) but anyway as we were looking for our bus we came across a bus that had a child on it that no one could figure out where he was supposed to go..he wouldn't talk and didn't want to get off :errr: My big fear is them dropping her off somewhere random..I've told her if you don't see our house DO NOT get off!

Our school district is not allowed to drop off kindergarteners unless there is a parent at the bus stop.

Our buses won't let the kids from the elementary school off the bus without someone being there to meet the child. There was two times last year I didn't see it coming so the driver honked the horn so I could come out.
Is this the first year on the bus? No, it's Victoria's second year.
What time does the bus come to pick them up? around 8:55am
When do they get dropped off? She is supposed to be dropped off around 3:45pm but it's been more like 4pm when she gets there. The first day of school she didn't get off the bus until 4:15. She had been on the bus for an hour and 25 minutes (they get on at 2:50). They've changed the order of who gets picked up (elementary then middle) and it's pushed up the drop off times. It could be worse. One school district near us reconfigured the schools and some of the poor kids there didn't get home until 4 HOURS after school got out.
How far from the house is the stop if it's not at the front door? her stop is the end of our driveway.
Were/are they nervous about riding the bus? Not at all. She wasn't last year either.
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus? Not really. Our bus company has one of the best safety records for our state so I feel comfortable putting her on the bus. The only concerns we have is making sure we don't miss the bus in the morning or missing drop off and having to drive to the school to get her.

Is this the first year on the bus? Yes
What time does the bus come to pick them up? Christopher gets picked up at 7:49 am. The bus has been very prompt so far!
When do they get dropped off? He gets home around 3:25.
How far from the house is the stop if it's not at the front door? At the corner which is literally right across the street from our house.
Were/are they nervous about riding the bus? Nope, he loves it! I could drive him to school on M-W-F when Patrick has preschool but he prefers to ride the bus with his friend Sam.
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus? The only concern that I initially had was that he has to take an alternate bus to the sitter's house on Tuesday and Thursday. I was afraid that he would get on the wrong bus. So far this has not been a problem for him.

Is this the first year on the bus? Yes
What time does the bus come to pick them up? 7:16
When do they get dropped off? 2:42
How far from the house is the stop if it's not at the front door? We walk about a minute away to a neighbor's house. There is a street to cross, so someone has to walk with her.
Were/are they nervous about riding the bus? Nope.
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus? Another one who isn't a fan of the no seat belts, but I know that our driver makes them sit in their seats. There was an accident between my house and Maggie's bus stop the year before last, which was scary to see.

Jack's bus actually does have seatbelts, which is great. And they are not allowed to drop him off without seeing me. Last year, when Patrick was in the hospital, my dad was at my house waiting for Jack to be dropped off. The attendant asked to see my dad's I.D. and wrote his driver's license # down in their log.

Is this the first year on the bus? YES! Heather is in preschool - she's only 3!
What time does the bus come to pick them up? about 8:15/20
When do they get dropped off? about 11:55 (school gets out at 11:35)
How far from the house is the stop if it's not at the front door? She gets picked up at our front door and dropped off at a neighbor's house because I am not always home at the time she gets dropped off.
Were/are they nervous about riding the bus? She was so excited! Then, when she saw the bus, she freaked out! She likes it now - she's such a big girl!
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus? Not really I guess. You always worry about them when they aren't with you though. They are very strict about drop off, so that doesn't bother me. They also have seat belts on our bus AND an aid that helps the kids. This bus is JUST for the preschool kids.

What time does the bus come to pick them up? 8:15
When do they get dropped off? 3:42
How far from the house is the stop if it's not at the front door? It's at the end of the driveway (so might as well be the front door)
Were/are they nervous about riding the bus? No..he is an old pro
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus? not really. He is a good kid. Just the normal..what if's but if you what if's yourself you will go crazy.

Were/are they nervous about riding the bus? She was so excited. I was a bit nervous about her getting on and off at the right stop since she is on longer then Tylor but Tylor set her up with a friend of his little brother and things worked perfect.
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus? Alyssa was not happy about there being no seatbelts. That was the first thing she said when she got home but I think I am ok with the kids on the bus. I road the same busses growing up. They don't ride very far and our town is very small and there is little traffic. I am pretty secure in her riding!

My new bus driver/route is pissing me off :grr: he's supposed to be here at 8:15 in the morning..he got here at 7 after..what if we missed it? oh and then yesterday he dropped Paige off at 4:50 that's 20 minutes early! we just happened to look out the front door and there's the girl up the street and Paige walking!! I never would have let P cross that road alone let alone with the help of an 8 yr old!! :tearhair: we have put in an application to have the stop moved so they get picked up at our driveway...:crossfing:

Mine too Lisa! Yesterday, Jack got dropped off at 3:30, the day before 2:30!! I was freaking out wondering what could have happened, we live less than 10 blocks from the school! Then the aide got super defensive and freaked out on me when I asked what happened. I kept trying to calm her down (I guess they had gottwn a few phone calls by then), telling her I knew it wasn't her fault. I found out, they are picking up & dropping off kids from 3 different schools! I'm starting to re-think the bus. But I asked Jack if he minded being on the bus so long, he said he likes the bus & his friends are on it, so I don't know. I've started keeping a log of the pick up & drop off times and see if they get better by next week.

Actually, my driver can be in serious shit for letting her off the bus in the first place! he can't leave custody of a 5 yr old to a frigging 8 yr old? :grr: if he's that early again today (i'll be out there just incase) I'm calling the bus company and freaking out! if the time has changed then they are supposed to let us know.

Is this the first year on the bus? yes
What time does the bus come to pick them up? 8:38am-ish
When do they get dropped off? 3:28pm-ish
How far from the house is the stop if it's not at the front door? approx. 2 blocks away. But she has to cross a street to get there.
Were/are they nervous about riding the bus? Micayla was lost on the first day of school... she was put on an overflow bus & no one knew where she was she was at for over an hour. It was terrifying. So I had some seriously misgivings about letting her ride the school bus again. But since then it's been smooth sailing. (knock on wood!!!)
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus? Not too many. There are a few 6 grade boys that seem to be pretty rowdy, but they don't appear to pick on or bother the younger kids. They are just extremely loud.

Is this the first year on the bus? No, for Rory I think it's the third, but for Teagan it's the first.
What time does the bus come to pick them up? Ugh...7:20 IN THE MORNING?! WTF?!
When do they get dropped off? About 2:50.
How far from the house is the stop if it's not at the front door? Well, the stop for the girls is closer to their babysitter's, just because she'll have to get them after school, as well as put Teagan on the bus for the afternoon j/k class. There is a stop just up the street from the house that, in a pinch, Rory could use.
Were/are they nervous about riding the bus? Rory was at first, but now is quite happy to go...she has a ton of friends at her bus stop/on her bus, so she's good! Teagan I imagine is a bit nervous about her first time on the bus, but she's the girl who will be good no matter what, and I know she'll love it! She'll also have Rory with her on her way home, which makes me feel better.
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus? Not really, the bus driver is great, so I know he'll watch out for them (and the rest of the kids), and the school has the system down pat, so, really...they're in good hands!
~Jenn

Our school district is not allowed to drop off kindergarteners unless there is a parent at the bus stop.
Same here - they'll take the child back to the school.
I should add the right now, Rory's bus is very sporadic. It's shown up at 7:15, and as late as 7:35. Technically, it's supposed to be 7:23. It's still early!

Ours isn't supposed to either( it happened to me with Cass once, I had to go pick her up at the school) but last week he let Paige off the bus with the girl down the street and took off  he's just so f'n lucky we were home! I mean Chantal is a good kid and would know to stay on our porch or take P over to her house( waaaay down the road) but non the less he wasn't supposed to let her off the bus without seeing one of us! and today he was on time..grrr..last week he was roughly 20 minutes early so I had to stand out there for a half an hour "just incase" I came off a night shift and didn't want to chance missing the bus and having to drive them to school..I was waaaaay to tired to do that..I sure miss Cass waiting at the stop with her

:badwords: :bash: :wtf:
The frigging bus driver let her off the bus again early without me there :grr: he let her cross a frigging busy intersection with an 8 yr old! he isn't supposed to get there until 4:52 and Paige walked into my front door at 4:30! I called the bus district incharge of the bus company to complain..she took notes and said she would have someone look into it..I asked her if the request to have the stop moved around the corner had gone through yet but she didn't know..it frigging better go through! Uggggh what an IDIOT! why would he let a 5 yr old off the bus?? why bother sending home a letter asking who can take your child off the bus when they just let her go?!
I need to calm down....need a smoke..too bad I don't smoke anymore...

Is this the first year on the bus?
Riding to school yes. While he was in preschool he rode the bus to fieldtrips.
What time does the bus come to pick them up?
Dave drops him off at preschool at 7am and they leave at 7:15.
When do they get dropped off?
They are dropped off at school by 7:30am
How far from the house is the stop if it's not at the front door?
We take him to the bus stop at the preschool he attended. They offer after school care.
Were/are they nervous about riding the bus?
Absolutely not! He was very excited!
Do you have any concerns about your child on the bus?
None at all. The bus driver is actually the principle at the preschool and I completely trust her. He has to wear his seat belt and he does pretty good at following directions while on the bus.
