Not sure where to put this...
For the parents of kids who are special needs, have you gone to a SPED PAC meeting?
Tonight is the first meeting for the SPED PAC in my town and I am going to go and check it out. I am not really sure what they do, but figured it would be good to go to one....

I am not 100% sure what they do. Hopefully after tonight I will have more information.

I just got back from our informal SPED PAC meeting. It was at someone's house and included alcohol... always a good thing.
Some of the things that our SPED PAC is doing are different workshops. We had one in October that was all about organizing all of the IEP, doctors notes, etc... We had it done through the Family Ties program in Massachusetts. They actually gave us the binders, forms, etc... and we discussed the best way to put together our binders. I have one all set for Cameron that has his latest evaluations done by the school, his new IEP, his medical records, etc... It is so nice to have it all in one spot.
Our next program that we are putting together is a concert that will be done by the schools OT, who is awesome. She is going to also talk to parents about sensory issues and over stimulation.
We are having a parents basic rights one done in January and March we are having a school psychologist come in and talk about some topic (we haven't picked it yet).
I really like our SPED PAC. There aren't that many parents involved and the ones that I have met I really like. It is nice to have a group of parents to talk to who understand what you are going through.
