For those whose kids have already lost teeth, have you noticed any pattern between getting teeth and losing them? Like if they get teeth early then they lose them early?
Emily was an early teether (first one at 5 months and a full mouth by a year old) and she also started losing teeth early at 5 years old. Now at 7 she has lost 10 teeth.
However, Harry was a late teether, he didn't get his first tooth till 8 months old and the dentist has told us it will be at least another year if not two before he starts to lose teeth!
So I'm wondering if it's just coincidence or not :dunno:

My Dentist actually told me that would happen. Tylor got his first tooth at 14 months. He lost his first tooth around 7 or 8 and at 12 has lost a total of 4.
Alyssa got her first tooth around 11 months and doesn't have any loose yet at all at around 5.5.

Yep, it's true - not in ALL cases, but in most. Caroline got her first teeth around eight months, and now has her first one ready to fall out (we're hoping today, it's starting to be painful for her to eat!)

Isabelle was 4 months with her first tooth, and lost her first 2 at 5 1/2.

Riley was 18 months when she got her first tooth, and she doesn't have anything even remotely wiggly yet :(

David got his first tooth around 6 months I think? Crap I can't remember. Any way he has lost 2 teeth and he won't be 6 until December.

Victoria cut her first tooth around 4 or 5 months old and lost 2 teeth this past May. She has a top front one that's loose too but she won't let me touch it to see how close it is to falling out.

Carter got his first tooth at around 4-5 months. He lost his first days after he turned 5.

Interesting. So it does seem like the earlier they get them, the earlier they lose them.
Poor Harry is desperate to start losing teeth but the dentist says there isn't any imminent sign of that happening!

Both Eliot & Ian were late getting their teeth. Most of Eliot's friends who are younger than him have lost at least 2 teeth, Eliot (6 1/2) doesn't have any loose teeth at all yet... we'll see how it goes with Ian.

Isabelle was 4 months with her first tooth, and lost her first 2 at 5 1/2.Ditto for Aidan, although he was even just a little earlier with the loss - 5ys, 4mos.

Jack got his first tooth at 5 1/2 months but still no loose teeth at almost 6.

Same as Connie's Jack...Aidan teethed early. Around 4 months, IIRC. None of his teeth are anywhere near loose. He's quite disappointed, especially after seeing how many other kids have lost.

Yep, especially since he's been hearing about the tooth fairy!

None of my kids had a tooth before they were 10 months old, and so far, no one's lost any (though C&L just turned 5 in May). The dentist says Lilly will lose her top front teeth earlier than expected though, because her roots are deteriorating, most likely because Connor knocked her in the mouth accidently about a year ago. Still, the dentist says she'd be surprised if she lost them before her sixth birthday. I was a late tooth loser -- I had my top eyeteeth pulled at 15! My wisdom teeth came in my late 20s.

Caroline saw that I posted in this thread about her teeth being super-loose, so she demanded that I come back and say that her first tooth came out last night! ("Go tell your friends on the computer, Mom - you told them it was loose, they want to know that it's out!" :giggle: )

That's funny, Anne :giggle:
Eliot had a dentist checkup yesterday, no loose teeth at all yet. He is getting some permanent first molars.

Yay Caroline :woo:
Okay I'm really annoyed that I made a spelling mistake in the title of this thread :tantrum: But in my defense, I'm going to point out that obviously I was subconciously making a pun on "loose teeth" and "losing teeth" :snob:

What spelling mistake :awink: (all fixed)
It took me 2 months to realise I spelt "choose" as "chose" in my baby name thread title, no one told me  Nothing a bit of editing won't fix :giggle:

Maia also teethed early and started losing them early. She's lost four, and two more are loose.

Thanks Deb :) I only noticed the spelling mistake today which surprised me cause the misuse of lose/loose is one of my pet peeves. When I saw my thread I was thinking "ugh, who spelt losing wrong" :giggle:

I'm going to have to dig through my old journals to see when Rory started teething. My best guess would be around 8-10 months though. She'll be 6 in about 10 weeks, and shows no sign of having any loose teeth.

Saxon lost his first tooth 5 years after he got his first tooth. Like almost the same day! Weird.(his first tooth came in at exactly 6 mo) He has another loose one but he won't try to get it out. I just let the last one fall out on its own. His adult teeth are already coming in behind them. Looks a bit weird.

All my girls got their first tooth at exactly 5 months, so I wonder if they'll all lose them around the same time too? Caroline does not have any that are loose, and she turned 5 in June.

Wow, Stacey! that is weird!!
Aiden still does not have a single loose tooth. I keep waiting for it to happen, but it hasn't yet, he got his first tooth on christmas eve, so I would think if he is going to loose one based on that pattern then it should be happening in the next 6ish weeks

I went in and pulled it in his sleep Saturday night. It was just barely attached I basically just had to pick it out with my nail. He didn't even notice. Tooth fairy came last night.:aok: 18 more to go.

I was wondering about this myself -- I can't remember when Hanna started teething as a baby but at 6, there's no sign of any loose teeth yet but the dentist said that they're all in place and ready.
(I don't want her to start losing teeth ... that will mean my baby is growing up) :(
