Anyone else have a bored 5 year old? Tyrus just seems so "over" everything we're doing. His attitude is as if he's already looked through all of these books, and played with these toys, and gone to these places, and can we please do something else?! He keeps trying to test the limits and do things differently - like get water over the kitchen counter from the other side instead of in front of it - or climb on to things instead of walking around them. :tearhair:

I think he's really ready for the stimulation school will bring. I sure know I'm running out of ideas to occupy him!

Uhm, my kid is currently running laps through the living room, past the front door, down the hallway between the dining room and bathroom, past the kitchen and back through the living room. And has been for more than 20 minutes. She's going to hit a corner and give herself a concussion any time now....

I think Aidan is starting to get the 'back to school' itch. I've managed to keep him fairly occupied all summer, but he needs more stimulation than I can give him at times. Thankfully, he's great at self-entertaining, ususally.
He's been playing make-believe w/ his sister & brother, leading them in some, um, interesting storylines that are a little too wild for my tastes, though.

Joshua has been asking when school starts again for the past 2 weeks. :gah: I keep telling him that if he doesn't quit the attitude that he ISN'T going to make it to senior kindergarten

:oh_really Becky!

Ha! Yeah, I think school will help for sure. We're limited a bit with what we can do just because there are other kids in tow. I've been giving him lots of jobs to help out around here and just trying to keep him busy. When he's bored, it isn't pretty.

David has been bored for quite some time. Thank goodness school starts in 12 days! He has been getting in quite a bit of trouble at summer camp but things have seemed to level out here lately. I just hope we can hold on for the rest of the time. Luckily next week is a short week with Kindergarden orientation on Thursday. Come on school!!!

Christopher has been giving me an attitude for the past couple of weeks. I think that he is beyond ready to start kindergarten. He really needs the structure that school gives him.

Oy I'm so thankful it's not just my kid..last week I took Paige to two parks one of which was a splash pad where she played for atleast an hour each.. then I took her to Wendy's for a late lunch and we hadn't even left the parking lot when she proclaimed she was bored and that she never gets to do anything :violin:  this was after working a night shift and only getting 4hrs sleep so I wasn't in the best of moods when she said that...

Definitely, even my 3 yr old is ready to go back to "school" :giggle: This morning we went to take some papers to his "little school" (like he calls it) and he didn't want to leave  Ian starts on the 21st & Eliot starts on the 27th.

Two bored five year olds here! Connor wouldn't be bored if I let him play video games til his eyeballs fell out, but I'm not going for it. And Lilly is attached to my hip, hoping I'll do soemthing interesting, I think.

Actually, they've been pretty good, and we've kept fairly busy....but I'm about out of tricks right about now!

Eliot was sitting on the couch sighing :sigh::sigh: I asked him what was going on, if he felt okay and his answer was "I'm just bored and don't know what else to do besides watching TV"

He had a friend over all afternoon... I got the slip & slide for them, put up the dome screen house so they could have some shade while playing outside & in the sand box, they played with the Nascar cars, colored, jump around on their little trampoline, played Nascar playstation (while I kept an eye on the shuttle launch & fixed them pizza for dinner), they ate, watched the lift off, ran around the house with the walkie-talkies pretending to be out in space & finally decided to work on the book (4 pages) they had started earlier... and he has the nerve to tell me that he's bored 15 minutes after his friend left!!!! :tearhair:

Aidan hasn't professed to being bored but he wants to watch TV way more than we'll let him and he's grown a teenager-sized attitude that rears its ugly head every few days, and other days he's whining like a 2 year old. We're very ready for school to start. ;)

Oh yeah! Thankfully my stepson is still here, so he's keeping Jack occupied!

Janelle isn't quite 5 yet (1 month from today) but she so so so needs to get out of the house and away from her brother, she has day camp next week and I hope that helps, she spends all day coming up with new ways to annoy Caid it seems.

School starts on September 1 here so I have a few more weeks to deal with their climbing up the wall... 24/7...

Jackson isn't five yet, but he has recently added the word "bored" to his vocab. He also askes "what are we going to do that's fun for me?" all. the. time. It bugs me, especially when he asks that 5 minutes after doing somthing fun for him.

I'm getting ready for school to start ( :shuffle: and I wish he was going 5 days a week).

He doesn't start Kindergarten for 2 more years...I'm scared of how bored he'll be by then. :giggle:

Doesn't this just get you!
Hanna will do the same thing ... have the two girls down the street to play for an entire day (6 hours at least) and when they go home, she says that she's bored. AUGH!

We've found that this summer while at childcare (same situation as when she's in school), she's not getting enough physical stimulation ... we're going to have to find a daycamp that really works them through the day so that she comes home exhausted at night!

Carter is always bored. He even got his not quite 3 year old sister saying it. She says "Mommy, I'm boring!" It's so cute - well, not really - but her mistake is!

Mine is the same... TG school starts this week. :woo: And we haven't had TV or internet access for the past two weeks!!

One thing I did a while back that helped was have her make a list of all the things she wanted to do during the summer. When she said she was bored, I told her to look at her list.

And of course, putting toys away helps. My kids have been loving life in the past couple weeks because we got back all their toys that had been packed up in moving boxes all summer.
