ARGH! I've been meaning to ask this question for 2 years now.
If you use crib bumpers, how the heck do you change the sheets without having a big wrestling match??
Do you actually take the bumper off each time? :owow:
The way they make the mattresses so tight in the cribs now, it's so hard for me to get mine on without taking the whole mattress OUT!
Am I just overlooking something really easy?

DD's bumper is only tied at the top so when I remove the sheet I just lift that part of it up. :dunno: Its pretty easy for me.

I don't use bumpers and it STILL takes me and Darren to change the crib sheet. If I have to do it myself, I end up taking the mattress out and putting it on the floor.
I HATE changing crib sheets.

Matthew's bumpers just tied at the top as well. I'd just scoot them up and then lift up one side of the mattress at a time to put it on. His crib easily rolled around so I could pull it out from the wall to get to the back side easier.

We don't use a bumper, so I don't have that problem

I don't use bumpers and it's still hard to change the crib sheet. I always just pull the mattress out and put it on the floor.

Wow! This looks like our answer! I'm going to BRU today to see if they have any!
Thanks Kaari!
ps... I'm so glad to see I'm not alone. :)

When my daughter was in a crib I would just put it in with the bumper still in there. The bumper tied at the top anyway so it didn't matter.

We never used a bumper but still changing crib sheets isn't fun. I used to put on layers - a crib sheet, then a mattress pad, then a crib sheet then another mattress pad then a crib sheet...so in the middle of the night if there was a leak I could just peel off one layer!

That Ultimate crib sheet looks perfect. Going to have to shop for one as well! What a life saver! I have the SAME problem. its a HUGE project just to change the sheets... wasnt this bad with the first baby, they must be makine the mattress's bigger or cribs smaller or something

When I had bumpers in the crib, I just slid them up the rails and took the mattress out. Now I just take the mattress out. I have a little stool I keep next to the bed to aid in this :)

I didn't find changing the sheet to be a problem (just a pain) until the mattress was lowered - and now it's a freaking PRODUCTION. I get DH to do it  and that's my solution! :)

You can tell Katie doesn't spend much time in her crib yet...she's almost four months old and I've never changed the sheet! She's still sleeping in her Moses basket at night and just recently started taking naps in her crib.

I have my cleaning lady do it.
If I do it myself then I just slide the bumper up and pull the mattress up a little bit. Our bumper is still on and Peyton is 21 months old. The bumper is really thin though, and I usually pull it down inbetween the mattress and the crib.

I use the Ultimate Crib sheet!
I just want to say thanks so much Kaari! I got one at Toys R Us (had a $10 coupon! :supergrin ) and it works great! Only problem is hubby was so excited to use it, he stripped Ben's crib and didn't put a sheet on under it! So the bare mattress shows through on the sides. :disbelief MEN!
You know... I SWEAR the cribs are smaller too! I CAN'T pull up the bumpers on either of Lexie or Ben's crib without having a big wrestling match. I too used hubby as my solution, but I got sick of his whining.
Gotta go get another one of these this week!

Lette,
I'm glad to see that it's working out for you. I have 2 sets of Ultimate Crib sheets for both girls. I have never had to take Isabelle's bottom sheet off to wash it. (I did have to laugh about Jim taking off the bottom sheet, though! )

I just had my weekly wrestling match last night!!! I just try to change the sheets as little as possible since it is such a task.
I also cover part of the sheet with a thin receiving blanket tucked around the sides that way I just change the spit soaked blanket every few nights and I don't have to change the sheet until encounters a serious puking!
