What song (or songs) immediately remind you of a certain time or place?

yikes, Sheila!
There are a gazillion!
I have songs that remind me of every boyfriend I have had. Every baby I have had, our wedding, our honeymoon, highschool dances, even songs that remind me of hanging out the front of the local 7/11 store
Let me sleep on it and I will try to pick a few significant ones.
well maybe I should leave you with one or two that immediatley pop to mind.
Jeff Buckley "Last Goodbye" reminds me of a time in my life just before Tony and I started dating and my best friend was pregnant with her first and I watched her give birth.
Red Hot Chili Peppers "Rollercoaster" reminds me of our wedding as it was the song we walked into the reception hall too mainly because we are die hard fans and the song is so damn funky and the complete opposite to the traditional songs all our relatives had walked out to at their weddings.

A few come to mind right off the bat:
Rosalia by Better than Ezra reminds me of my girlfriend and I working on design projects until all hours of the morning the week of finals. I Wanna Be Sedated by the Ramones has the same scenario attached to it. Every time I hear those 2 songs I smile.
I have more but I'll have to think about them.

I also have a bazillion, but what comes to mind right away is "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic always makes me think of when my dad died. I can't listen to it for that reason.
"Cruel Summer" makes me think of high school. Not sure why that one in particular, but there you go.

I'm in the "lots of songs" camp, too. The first two that came to mind are: 1) Philadelphia Freedom by Elton John reminds me of buying Pepsi (which my mom didn't let us have) at the cool "new looking" Vons supermarket with my stepmom back in the 70s, & 2) Whip it reminds me of high school, specifically a pep rally where one of the dance teams did a routine to it. I'm sure that I'll think of many more

Hearing any song I danced to in a previous recital takes me back to that time. We danced to "Love Shack" in the 6th grade and I still think I remember parts of that dance and I go through it in my head when I hear the song.
Ace of Base "The Sign" or really anything from that album takes me back to high school.
I know there are more, but that's what I can think of for now.

I have way too many, too. So many, that I can't think of any. I have to hear them for them to trigger something.
Off the top of my head:
"Shook Me All Night Long" reminds me of getting ready to go out at a friend's house in high school.
"Gin and Juice" reminds me of walking around to keg parties my freshman (or maybe it was sophomore) year of college.
"Hey Ya" reminds me of driving my baby boys around the first hot summer we had our minivan.

"More than a Feeling" by Boston reminds me of Yakima, Washington and the time I finally got over my one exboyfriend.
I have tons of song associations though.

Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass ~ the Whipped Cream & Other Delights album reminds me of my paternal Grandfather... he LOVED Herb & this was his favorite album so we got to hear it everytime we visited his home.

Another I just thought of:
Love Shack by the B-52s. 1998, I lived in a sweet high rise apartment and my crew used to come over for 'Surfers on acid' shots before painting the town red!

I shudder when I hear love shack by the B52's. In 1992 for our rock eisteddfod against all the schools in Sydney our routine consisted of Enigma, Love Shack and party like it's 1999. My entrance into the peice was to Love Shack and I had to learn every little beat of it so I had perfect timing, after practice for 6 months straight that song was drilled into my brain and now I fear it. I hear it and have to turn it off immediatley or else I wind up in the fetal position rocking back and forth in a catatonic state :giggle:

It was my first year of High School... sometimes songs that are big here do take a bit to get to Mexico so probably that's what it is

I have way to many to mention too. The ones that come to mind immediately are:
Young Guns by Wham - reminds me of my first job. My two best friends and I were paid to clean the school in the summer holidays (1982 I think). We took a ghetto blaster from room to room with us and every time that song came on we stopped to dance
The Day You Went Away by Wendy Matthews - reminds me of sitting in the hospital with my Dad when he died :(
Anything Oasis, Blur or Alanis Morrisette reminds me of my time living in London and travelling Europe 1994-1996.
Weather with You by Crowded House - reminds me the night my friend and I missed the curfew at the youth hostel in Inverness, Scotland and ended up sleeping in the back of a van with the band we met that night
