Do you buy souvenirs when you travel to different places?

If so, who receives them? Family members, or just for yourself?

Depending on the length of the trip, I may buy a gift for the kids (if they don't come). Otherwise I generally don't buy souvenirs.

We buy Christmas ornaments and the kids get snowglobes. :) When DH travels for work, he brings random stuff back for the kids too.

If I buy a souvenier, it is usually a magnet.

I buy shot glasses.

I usually buy magnets and a book on the destination. Easier then trying to get great pictures of places.

We do shot glasses for us, and postcards for the kids scrapbooks. If we're gone for awhile, like when we went to Texas and Disney, we'll buy for BIL or ILs since they take care of our cat for us while we're gone

If I see something neat for the house, I'll buy it. And I always bring back something for my brother, since he comes over every day and feeds the cats and takes in the mail. I'll buy him several somethings if the cats have been a pain or he has to attempt to give them medication.

I bring back a magnet usually. And if it's a particular trip that means something to Keith and I (our honeymoon for example) I buy a Christmas ornament with the date on it.

I bring back something for the girls, but not really a souvenier of where I went. My last trip, I picked up some Beanie Babies in the airport to have something for them.

Nothing huge - like others have said, a magnet or maybe a t-shirt for Caroline.

Well, I usually take the pens from the hotel....

I used to buy shot glasses for my brother, until I was told by his girlfriend that I wasn't allowed to buy him anymore until I bought him something to showcase them. I have bought him shotglasses from France, NY, British Columbia... heck, I'm half tempted to steal his collection so I know where I've been.

Other than that, I don't get into the whole souvenir thing.

I haven't done too much travelling, but when I do it's neat stuff that catches my eye like hand made jewlery and it's for my immediate family and my close friends.

Not really. Occasionally a magnet or a t-shirt for the kids. Otherwise we're not big souvenir people.

Mary DK

Yep, they're usually t-shirts that we wear until they start to fall apart :giggle:

I get either a magnet or a christmas ornament...although on our last couple of trips, I forgot to do that. If it is a big trip, and my Dad isn't with us, I'll get him some golfballs...and usually I bring back liquor for my friend who watches my cats...

Not really. I have some stuff that I just had to buy - like Beatles souvenirs from Liverpool in England and Elvis stuff from Graceland  - but I don't buy something from everywhere. It's one of my regrets actually. When I lived and worked in Europe, there was so much stuff that I wanted to buy, like artwork and such and I always thought "I'll get it next time". Then eventually we decided to come back to Australia and there wasn't a next time.

Generally a Christmas ornament with the year on it. Brenna will get little things. An ornament or something small like that if my ILs get the mail or check the house.

I do the same that most of you do - usually either a magnet and/or a Yule ornament. :) Now that we have Alex, I might get a t-shirt for him....but usually only if he's with us. Paul and I really haven't taken a trip without him, so it hasn't really come up on what we'd do without him. Paul did take a business trip when Alex was a baby, and he bought him a little stuffed beaver (from Canada).

we do buy small cheap souvineers every place we go and keep them for ourselves just as a little keepsake of our trip, we normally try to find the tackiest one we can  When looking back at them it makes us laugh.

I'm a flat penny collector! I have two books - one of pennies we've flattened on trips and one for pennies other people have flattened and given to me. Then I've also started a collection for each of the kids. I love squashing those pennies!

Eh, no. I'm not big on clutter. It makes me twitch.

Rarely. We were buying "location" magnets for the fridge since we needed them anyway and it was fun to see that, but we travel enough between us that it was getting to be too much.

When Joe's gone abroad for working hockey, he'll usually get the kids something from that too.

And on work trips, I will sometimes bring something back for my team - like candy or something.

We actually just got back from 2 days in Ottawa where we took my BIL around sight-seeing. We went to the Parliament building where Kenny wanted to buy a maple candy, a CDN flag tattoo (he calls them Kid Canada's ) and a Parliament bookmark. We also went to the Canadian National War Museum (we were there for 3hrs and I took SOO many pictures!) where my BIL bought a lanyard and some other souveniers and Brad bought a poster of the Vimy Ridge Memorial which we'll frame. This weekend we're going to Toronto where we'll be going to the zoo so I can imagine that we'll be buying lots of souveniers from there too. I think between Brad and I we buy the same amount of souveniers where ever we go.

I don't usually buy souvenirs. I may buy postcards that I put in our travel box (where I dump all our travel litter when we get back). I figure it's so easy to buy something off the internet anyway. I'll buy stuff for the kids though but not as souvenirs.

I usually buy local food items. If there is a local wine, I'll get a few bottles. I'll buy local coffee, candy, bread, taffy, etc. I give to my family and coworkers. I also get a christmas ornament.

Magnets, as long as we don't already have one from that location.

If its someplace special, like WDW, we're likely to get an ornament for the tree.
