So today I was taking Alyssa to school and thinking about the fact that we registered her for K on Saturday and I am driving the same car I got the year she was born.

So..My questions..

How long have you had your Current Vehicle and what is it?

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles?

How long have you had your Current Vehicle and what is it? I drive a Toyota Sienna that we bought used in October. We got an awesome deal, and I put very few miles on it. We traded in our Hyundai Santa Fe to get the Sienna. Phil drives a Hyundai Accent that we bought in January.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? We had my Chevrolet Cavalier that I bought the week after Phil and I started dating, but then Phil got into the accident the day before Thanksgiving this past year and it was toast. We had that car for 7 years, and that was my baby. :blue: I bought the car brand-new and was so proud of it.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? Considering we bought two cars within three months, we don't have any plans to buy again for a long time. I'm hoping to pay both our cars off early and not have a car payment for a long time. Now that Phil takes the train to and from work, he doesn't put a ton of miles on his car either.

How long have you had your Current Vehicle and what is it? My car is way older than my kids- I drive a 1999 VW Passat.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? This car is the one I've kept the longest. I originally leased it, then bought it at a rock bottom price at the end of my lease, and will finish payments on it in September.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? Though it's a 1999, I don't drive much so the car just broke 30,000 miles. It will be paid off, and it's in great condition, so I don't plan on buying one anytime soon. My next car will either be a Volvo sedan or a Mini. The Mini is perfect for the city. :nod:

How long have you had your Current Vehicle and what is it? we bought this car the week after 9/11 - so it's a 2001 Toyota Echo (my ex took my Pacifica from me when we split). I am not crazy about it, but it's paid for.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? This one is currently the oldest one I've had.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? I'm really not looking to buy anything soon. I'd also love a Mini. After the fuel efficiency of having a small car versus a bigger one, I don't think I could ever go back to a gas guzzler.

How long have you had your Current Vehicle and what is it? I drive a 1992 Mitsubishi Verada. We bought it 8 years ago, when I was pregnant with Emily.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? This is the only car I have ever owned, so it's also the longest I've kept a car :)

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? I would like a Honda Odyssey but Alex has different ideas. I desperately need a new car as this one is close to dying a natural death, but it's just not on the cards right now.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? Stagg's car is a 1997 Honda Civic, and he'll probably drive it another year or so. The car the van replaced was also 10 years old.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles?
This is the second car that I've purchased, I got my parents car as a hand me down in college, that one was 10 years old when I got that, I kept it for three years and traded it for a Saturn SL-1 in 1999. Reed took over that car when we got the Endeavor and we kept it until we bought his subaru in 2005, so 6 years. We sold that to my parents.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when?
Hopefully nothing for a long long time!

I have a 2005 Ford taurus. I will keep it until it is paid for then probably pass it on to dh and get a new car. He just bought his brothers 1997 Nissan Altima and we gave his sister his 1996 saturn sl2. He does the most driving and we don't want two car payments so he takes the older car. Our hope is the Altima and taurus hold out until the taurus is paid for and we have enough saved up to pay cash for a mini van when the time comes. We never buy new. We always buy used. He used to be a mechanic so he does most of the work on our cars and we don't really see the need to buy a new car. Our motto is to run them until they die and should just go to the junk yard.

We did just get rid of his 1960 Ford truck a couple of months ago. It was taking up space and needed to be completely redone. We will look at buying a third car when we can pay cash for it. We want a third one so that we can loan it out to church members in need and have it available for missionaries when they visit.

We drive two old, paid for, cars. Josh drives a 1999 Kia that we bought brand new, and I drive a 1993 Prism, that my IL's gave us. Neither are great, both are a tight fit for our family, but we're driving them because we have them and, did I mention, they are paid off?

When we do buy again, we will pay cash for a mini van. Hopefully sometime within the year we'll be able to do this. I don't ever want to have a car payment again. No thank you.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? My previous car was probably the longest - I bought a Toyota Corolla in 1994 and sold it in 2002 when I bought my Subaru....so 8 years.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? I don't plan on buying another car for a LONG time. :) My car now is in GREAT shape and it's paid for, so I'm gonna run it into the ground. :lol: I'd love to buy a hybrid/non-gas car if they have any wagon/family options when the time is right.
I do have a lot of miles on my car though.....about 73,000. Paul has a 1994, and we have just about the same mileage because I get better gas efficiency and so we take my car on all the road trips.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? My 1994 Altima was the vehicle I had the longest, I bought it from my parents in 1996, and sold it in 2001.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? Our Jeep is leased, so we have to give it back in March of 2008 - right now we only have one car but we're going to need 2 at that point. I'm hoping to lease another car for myself, and buy Scott a commuter car at that point. Hopefully we can make it until next March before having to buy Scott a car.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? Longest I've ever had a car was 6 years.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? Don't have any intentions of buying a new vehicle soon since both ours are newer and in great shape.

We won't be purchasing anything for atleast 4 years (knock on wood!) My husband just got a Toyota Corolla this year and the Envoy isn't that old.

My husband wants to buy a pickup truck to use to haul things and whatnot. :rolleyes: I think it's a stupid waste of money but whatever, as long as I don't have to spend much time riding in it. We said in early 2008 but I don't know if he can stand waiting that long.

How long have you had your Current Vehicle and what is it? I drive an 04 Honda Accord that James bought new in 2004 and was just paid off last month.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? The gold 1997 Chevy Malibu that we bought just before we got married. We still have it and James uses it on days he has to go visit clients in the city; just recently passed 100K miles!

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? James said he absolutely plans on another Accord when the time comes. Probably not for a good 2 years or so, though.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? DH just got rid of his truck - had been a new 97 F150 - this fall, so 9 years. My cars, longest I kept one was 4-5 years.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? Don't plan on any vehicles for a while.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? We had our 1999 Corolla for 5 years, and Brendon's had his '94 Bronco for almost 5 years now.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? Brendon is probably going to be getting a work truck soon, but that doesn't count since we won't be paying for it. Other than that, we don't have imminent car buying plans.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? Ugh. I never keep cars long....I think my first car must be the longest I have ever kept one. 89-94. Other than that my Jeep has been the car I have kept the longest.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? Hopefully not soon. Car payments are on my nerves so since mine is just about paid off I want to take care of that and then pay off DH. At that point maybe I get what I want. I am tired of having an SUV. I am ready to go back to a sedan and my stick. I have my eyes on a BMW 3 series or maybe another Audi.

How long have you had your Current Vehicle and what is it? I have had my car since January 2002 and it is a 2002 Ford Focus. DH has a 1994 Ford Ranger and has had it since June 1998.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? 5 years for my car and almost 9 years for DH's truck. That's the longest either of us has kept the same vehicle.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? DH will get a new vehicle before I do; We will probably wait another year before we get him a new car.

How long have you had your Current Vehicle and what is it? I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport that we bought in May 02 when Olivia was 3 months old. I just paid my last payment on it this month!! :bliss: George has a 1997 Toyota Tacoma that's paid for!!!

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? I got a 1989 Nissan Pulsar when I graduated high school in 1991 and we traded it in on my 1998 Chrysler Sebring in 1998. So, 7 years

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? We have no plans on purchasing a new vehicle any time soon. We just want to be free from car payments. We plan to drive these two vehicles until the wheels fall off. :lol:

How long have you had your Current Vehicle and what is it? I have a 2000 Ford Focus ZX3 that we bought in July of 2002. I will pay my last payment June 1!!!! Dan has a 1994 Ford Ranger that he bought his Jr. Year of High School. So 96.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? I guess that would be Dan's truck that we have had for 11 years

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? I really want a Van. Even if for some reason we can not have any more children I feel it is a necessity. I am a Nanny. I always have a bunch of children and the focus is just not a good match for that. We hope to save a year and put a nice down payment on one!

How long have you had your Current Vehicle and what is it? 2005 Saturn View. So I have had it for 2 years. Before that I had a 2002 Chevy Tracker

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? Probably my 1st car a 1987 Chrysler Lebaron. I got it in '89 and sold it in '96.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? Nothing new for a while. Gary just got a 2007 Hyundai Elantra. My car litterally goes 5 miles round trip from home to work so there won't be that much mileage for quite some time.

How long have you had your Current Vehicle and what is it? We have a 2002 1.7 Acura EL. We have had it coming up to 5 years.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? The longest I had a car was probably about 5 years. I sold it when I moved here. Prior to our car, DH had an Acura Integra which he had for 10 years. Unforunately it got totalled in an accident. :(

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? We are thinking of getting something bigger soon like an SUV or Mini van. Right now we only have the one car so if I can convince DH I would love to keep the acura and then get a bigger car. Our present car hardly fits anything in the trunk and now with 2 kids we can never have out of town guests or they won't fit into the car with the 2 car seats.

Probably my first car - it was a Ford Mustang. And I LOVED it! I think I had it for about 4 years before my Mom (technically, she owned it! :lol: ) traded it in. Does that count?

Likely another van, or something equally as large! :lol: Although this will be around until it dies.

I had my 1st car, Chevy Z24, for about 2 1/2 years, then my Eclipse for 4 years. . .then I had about 6 cars in the next 4 years :lol: John's truck, we bought brand new in March, '01, so it's 6 years old. It's a bright-yellow Nissan Frontier 4-door truck.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when?
We'll have to get John a new vehicle at some point, probably next year. I'm sure it will be another pickup truck.

We have a 2003 Honda Odyssey that we got in April '03 and a 2001 Toyota Camry that we got in July '01.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles?
The Camry. We've had it for about 5.5 years now and its paid off. We both hate it. Its not pretty, its not fun, but its reliable and its paid for, so its not going anywhere anytime soon!

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when?
My lease on the van is up soon, so we'll have to get something. Probably either another Odyssey, a Sienna, or an MPV.

How long have you had your current vehicle and what is it? I have a '98 Honda Civic, and Keith has a '03 Hyundai Sonata.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? I bought my Honda brand new in '98, so that one. Keith drives it to work (68 miles round trip :dead: ) because it's paid for and old. I drive the Sonata mainly around town and to visit my dad.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? Although Keith wants a truck I don't so we're not getting one. :hehe: We'll probably buy a Honda Accord when it's time. Most likely used. :nod:

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? I drove my first car, a Toyota Tercel, for 7 years. The last two years, it didn't have reverse. Chris had a Dodge Neon that he drove for about 7 years too. We donated it when it was about 8 years old.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? We won't be getting anything new for a while. Hubby drives a 2000 Toyota 4-runner and Toyota's last forever. I love that car. When the lease is up on the BMW, we'll get something else.

How long have you had your Current Vehicle and what is it? 2006 Land Rover Freelander. We got it April 19 last year so almost exactly a year ago. It's a 3 year lease through DH's company.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? I had a 1984 Chevy Cavalier convertible that I got in 1987 when I started college. I thought I was so cool! I sold it for $1500 in 1993.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? When we go back to the US, I'm getting a Toyota Sienna. DH will get something for him because he hasn't had a new car ever and had his last (used) car for about 12 years. It's a horrible old piece of crap that I've always hoped would be stolen or the victim of a minor accident. It's still sitting in a garage in the US, awaiting his return. :dead:

I usually drive our 2003 Ford F-150. We got it in May 2003, so almost four years. DH drives a 98 Ford Escort ZX2. He got it in August or September 97. We both drive both vehicles, but I usually drive the truck and he takes the car.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles?
I had a 96 Civic I bought in 2000 and I sold it to my parents in 2003 (my youngest brother drives it now). I've only owned that and our current vehicles now. Well, technically I don't own either. DH's name is on both titles. His dad bought him the car for college, and transfered the title to DH when it was paid off, and we bought the truck with an employee discount. We were told it's not a good idea to title a car in both of our names because if there is an accident, somebody could go after our house because we both own that too. :dunno:

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when?
Not sure. DH has been toying with getting rid of both vehicles next May when the truck is paid off and getting a Mazda 3 for me and something impractical (family-wise) for him. :dunno: He's convinced that the truck's size is too much for me to drive since I've been in some accidents. I told him the majority of them were not due to the truck's size, but he thinks otherwise. :rolleyes:

This is my first brand spanking new vehicle the one I had before that lasted roughly a year and half it was a clunker and a half..till I met dh I took busses.

I'm looking into getting a truck like this (http://www.autofieldguide.com/articles/110302.html) maybe next year(fall) if Cass gets her drivers licence I'll be giving her my car, not worth anything on a trade in unfortunately..

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? The longest I have kept a car is about 4 years, I tend to upgrade every 4 years. But obviously I have owned cars that are older than 4 years, my first car was a 1986 Toyota liteace and that thing was a heap when I was driving it around :lol:

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? Well I would have held onto the acclaim as it serves it's purpose and I love the boot size, but we need to upgrade to a 7 seater due to the impending birth of baby number 4. So we are tossing up between a Chrysler Voyager, Toyota Torago or the Hyundai Santa Fe. Decisions Decisions.

I have a 2006 Honda Odyssey and I've had it since February 2006, so 1 year and 3 months.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles?

Probably my 2001 GMC Jimmy and that's only because we leased it and were stuck with it for 3 years. I don't normally keep a vehicle for longer than 2 years.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when?

No clue since my van is so new and I still love it. DH will need a car before me so we'll get whatever he wants, within reason, probably in the next 3-4 years.

We have a 2004 Ford Focus wagon. Love it! We also have a 2000 Mazda truck that i love too.

I had a Geo Metro for 10 years and drove it into the ground.

No plans for another car but i love wagons.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles? I had my last car, a Mazda Protege, for about 11 years.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when? We don't have any plans right now. Erik's car is a Geo Prism with something like 250,000 miles on it, so he will probably be getting the next car. Knowing him it will be something fairly practical that gets great mileage.

How long have you had your Current Vehicle and what is it?

We have a 2004 Saturn Vue that we bought new right after Brookelyn was born. We love it and the gas mileage is decent. We also have a 1999 Ford F150 extended cab. The engine is rebuilt so it's only technically got like 30000 miles on it. I bought that car before Matt and I even met.

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles?

Five years. My parents bought me a 95 Corolla in 1994 and I drove that until 1999. Matt also had an eclipse for almost five years.. that got sold when we got the Vue.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when?

We plan to keep the Saturn for another 2-3 years. We're almost done paying on it, but until we have another toddler we don't really need something bigger quite yet. The truck will be paid off in Dec (LONG term!.. like 7 years!! I was stupid! and young!) and we'll keep that until we move out of state. Once we move out of state in a couple of years, we'll buy a new truck similar to the F150 I'm sure. My Saturn will be replaced with a Lexus GX, we're just hoping that by the time we buy they'll make it in hybrid!

How long have you had your Current Vehicle and what is it?

I drive a Mazda Miata to work. I think it's a 1992 with close to 160,000 miles on it. I bought it at the end of last summer so I haven't even had it a year. "My" car is the one our au pair drives. It's a 2005 Toyota Sienna which we bought new almost 2 years ago. It has about 25,000 miles on it already!

What is the longest you kept any of your vehicles?

I had my Volkswagen Beetle for 6 years. I bought it when I finished med school and traded it in when I finished residency.

What Vehicle do you plan to purchase next and when?

Not sure yet. I'm going to sell the Mazda when I finish in Baltimore because I don't trust it on the highway. I'll need a "work" car but we won't have much money. I'll probably just buy something small and used for the short-term. I want something fuel efficient and reliable in the long-term. I was looking at the SmartCar which is coming to the U.S. next year or maybe something like a Cooper Mini. :dunno: Maybe a hybrid? I'll look into it more when I get back to NY and see how we're doing financially.

I have no plans to purchase anything anytime soon but if I had to, I'd probably go with another Mini. I love mine now and the gas mileage is great.
