Question of the weekend :giggle:

If you could be doing ANYTHING you want this weekend what you you be doing?

What's the reality and what are you really doing?

MrsPeacefrog
April 12th, 2007, 06:38 PM
My dream: If I could be doing anything this weekend I would go to a tropical white sanded beachy island that has a fun amusement park on it and spend all day Saturday doing rollercoasters and rides then all day sunday lounging on the beach doing nothing but dipping in the water and soaking up the sun.

My reality: taking kids to swimming lessons, viewing some houses and wiping snot bubbles from jacobs nose.

Shel
April 12th, 2007, 06:48 PM
Well, it's not Friday here yet, but I can pretend.

My fantasy: Someone else cleaning my house while I'm being fed, pampered, massaged and manicured.

My reality: gynecologist tomorrow, cleaning my own house, doing my own laundry and feeding and pampering other people.

Well, I was planning on having a sushi dinner with Jess and then going to the scrapbooking store to scrap, but I have a horrible headcold and I don't want to give it to her. So I'll probably be sitting home sulking about how I feel and sucking down disgusting Cold-Eeze lozenges in an attempt to make this stupid thing go away.

MrsPeacefrog
April 12th, 2007, 07:14 PM
Heck, we will make it an honourary Friday for you guys! :heee:

Nichole
April 12th, 2007, 07:21 PM
I can get on board for Honorary Friday! :woot:

I'm voting for this as my fantasy, too  :

My fantasy: Someone else cleaning my house while I'm being fed, pampered, massaged and manicured.

Reality: Going to work, coming home in traffic, making dinner for everyone, maybe watching a movie, going to bed at an old person time.

Add in there somewhere (probably after the working and driving in traffic part ;)): drinking some wine to chase away these gawdawful cramps. :dead:

MrsPeacefrog
April 12th, 2007, 07:45 PM
Well I don't know if I would want it to be honourary Friday if that is your plans! :giggle:

(old person time :giggle: )

Fantasy: to go off to a place I've never been (San Francisco comes to mind) to relax and have a great time while a team cleans my house top to bottom and trains my husband to clean after himself!

Reality: Finishing my homework after hours agonizing over it, cleaning up after Katie and Reed, but at least there is no grocery shopping to do!!!!

April 12th, 2007, 08:50 PM
I honestly don't know what my fantasy weekend would entail.

My reality is that I have to work all day on Saturday. :dead: On Sunday, I'm debating if I want to go to church. I have started taking Alex to the Unitarian church near us. This Sunday, they're going to talk about the search for a new pastor. :boring: I guess the woman they have now is an interim pastor and the search has been going on for a while. Since I don't have anything invested with this group, I don't know if I want to sit through the discussion. In the afternoon, I'd like to take Alex to a nature walk sponsored by a preserve on Bainbridge Island. :aok:

Lately, we've had TONS of visitors, so I'm kinda looking forward to having our house back to ourselves. Not that I haven't enjoyed the visits.....I guess it's just the introvert in me coming out.
Tuesday night, my aunt and uncle from SLC came over and stayed until Wed. afternoon. About an hour after they left, my in-laws came over and they just left about an hour ago. Then tomorrow, one of Paul's aunts is coming over and leaving on Saturday. Whew!!

Clare
April 12th, 2007, 08:55 PM
Fantasy: Fly to Paris child-free (I guess Alex could come if he wants). Stay in a fancy hotel, sightsee, eat, drink coffee, shop...ahhh :)

Reality: housework, grocery shopping, maybe a bbq with some school friends on Sunday.

Lets see
Dream - Going to Hawaii sitting on the beach with just DH and I and just relaxing in all the beauty.

Reality -
Friday: Baby-sit from 7am - 5:30 pm (Yes..I work over 10 hour days every day of the week with someone else's child and my DH still has the balls to come home and ask me what I have done all day  - sorry..off track  )
Then go to my friends for Dinner and social evening.

Saturday: Kindergarden registration in the morning with Alyssa, Moving all the furniture back into Alyssa's room..converting it to Tylor's room. Then the kids go off with my parents while we go out to dinner with our friends Geoff and Stacy

Sunday: Sunday School, Bells, Church, Pot Luck at Church - THEN...hopefully home for a nice long needed nap.

TtownAnne
April 12th, 2007, 09:13 PM
Dream: A weekend fully exploring Westminster Abbey and then going for tea and scones. No rain, please!

Reality: Helping at school tomorrow, followed by grocery shopping. Saturday trying to figure out what I want to take on the scrap retreat, Sunday celebrating the last Sunday of tax season.

Mary DK
April 12th, 2007, 09:14 PM
Fantasy: To have Luxury suite tickets for the race weekend happening just a few miles from my house!

Reality: I'll be lucky to watch any races at all since I'll be working getting the expenses put together for my boss' taxes :sigh: I guess I should look at it as extra $$... but I don't want to :pout:

Fantasy:

On Friday night I'd fly by private jet (no other passengers) to my own private cabana on a tropical island. On the flight down I'd watch one of 100 recent movies I haven't gotten to see. A private manicure/pedicurist would beautify me while I watch my film and get beautified.

After arriving I'd enjoy a long hot bath, then have a massage, read and go to sleep in a bed with the finest of European linens. Saturday morning I'd sleep late and no one would rumple up the bed, pee on it or vomit on me.

I'd spend all day at the beach reading and watching the waves. Saturday night I'd watch some more films and enjoy some shaken, not stirred extra dirty martinis by Rico, my manservant. :brows:

Sunday I'd have breakfast on my deck and soak up the morning with another massage and facial. That afternoon I'd do some shopping and then hop my flight back to reality land. My private jet has a king sized bed and I'd sleep all the way back home.

:heee: Hey you didn't specify a SHORT fantasy.

Reality: Take my kids to my mom's on Saturday to make up for the weekend that got wrecked last week when Ahna was sick. Sunday, do a bunch of work around the house. Do laundry. Clean up around this messy sty. Yech.

Dennis
April 12th, 2007, 11:17 PM
We're probably going to get our dream - the kids are staying at a friend's house Saturday night so we can sleep :)

MrsPeacefrog

April 13th, 2007, 12:00 AM
Dream - to be somewhere warm (not hot) with a beach and an unlimited amount of money to spend on things like clothes, food, drinks, spa treatments and whatever else I want.

Reality - teach Kindermusik class on Saturday (no other plans) and then church stuff on Sunday. I think we are actually going to try to clean out some of the crap in our house this weekend. That sounds like a lot of fun, doesn't it?

pam

Reality: The in-laws are in town. They just got in today & are staying at a hotel. I'm really wishing they would leave already. FIL is self focused & can't just say he doesn't know the answer to a question. MIL changes stories & gets into Amelia's face when they haven't seen each other since October. I'm probably more bothered by it than Amelia. I'm thinking that a little vino might help. I actually might try to take a break at some point during the weekend & go do something away from everyone (like picking up some final items for the retreat or ordering some photos). Looking forward to Tuesday.

Fantasy: Bridget's sounds really nice! If I were working I wouldn't even mind doing that this weekend

MrsPeacefrog

well, it looks like my weekend is going to be filled with lots of sickies. Jacob has had a nasty cough and snotty situation for a few days now, but he is getting worse, tonight he has a raging temp and his eyes are red rimmed and he can barely keep his eyes open. :blue:

We have to do swimming lessons tomorrow for the older two, then we have an appointment with the real estate at 2pm to go look at some houses so we can make a final decision to whether we are going to buy another house or extend the one we are in. Then we need to go visit our ex neighbours who just had baby number 5 this morning (a girl after having 4 boys) I am hoping Sunday is going to be more mellow, we want to go take Aiden down to the park to get good practice with his new bike with no training wheels, and I want to get a soaking bubbly bath and a good book for a while, so maybe I can do that while the boys do the park :aok:

Clare
April 13th, 2007, 07:51 AM
Poor Jacob :hug99: I hope he starts to feel better soon.

Sam is sick too :( His throat is red and swollen but it's not tonsillitis, just a virus. So not a lot we can do other then panadol and fluids.

Our only plans this weekend is a bbq on Sunday afternoon but it's supposed to start raining on Sunday and continue all week so I'm not sure if that's going to happen.

Bridget's sounds nice  So does Clare's and Shel's.

My actual weekend is going to be fabulous, though, so I shouldn't bitch :heee: I am leaving in about 1 hr to go to Austin (where Chris already is) for the weekend. On Saturday we're meeting up with Stacey, Ami, and Jen and their husbands and are going to have a helluva lot of fun. We don't come home till Sunday night :)

I'm going to start my fantasy weekend by being super lazy and stealing Bridget's.

My reality is that Maggie & Katie are going to a birthday party tomorrow afternoon, and then I'm meeting some people I consult for on Sunday-- social thing, not work. It should be a pretty good weekend, I think.

What I really want to do this weekend is clean the garage. Sad, isn't it?

I suppose I can come up with a fantasy weekend, though. I think I want to buy a new digi. SLR, go to Greece for the weekend and take as many photographs as I can, and then come home to a clean garage. :)

The reality... I'll be thrilled if I get a chance to clean the garage... and take our new Chariot out for a spin - walking and biking!

Eliot is suppose to have a game today but the way the weather is looking over here, we pretty much are planning on being cancelled. My sinuses & allergies are bothering me & I had to give Eliot medicine for a pretty stuffy nose.
Tomorrow we're just gonna relax, even Eliot said that was ALL he wanted to do, he didn't want to go anywhere or have to get up early :giggle:

Oh, we went to the circus last night & the boys got their pic taken with a real snake! Ian was the one that wanted to go & get his pic taken but then when the snake was near him he just had this stunned look on his face :giggle: I'll have to scan the pic & share.

April 13th, 2007, 10:12 AM
my reality doesn't seem that bad...Brad is off work early today so I'll have all the housework done by tonight :crossfing: and then tomorrow is shopping day (just a few groceries and some extras for when Uncle Ryan comes to visit) and a nice lunch in town. Sunday Brad booked me into the spa so I can (finally!) use my gc from valentines day. I'm pretty excited since I've never been to a spa or had a manicure/pedicure/massage! I guess the only thing that could make it better would be if we didn't have all this friggin SNOW!! I wish it was nice out so we could have a play day outside!!!

Happy Friday the 13th! :woo:

Dream: To be somewhere warm on a beach having someone take care of my every wish while I just lie there and soak up the sun. Massages and drinks are a must, as is sleeping in past 7.

Reality: Taking the kids to the library, cleaning the house, watching the snow melt, doing grocery shopping, and having a farewell dinner with my brother before he leaves for Boston again.

April 13th, 2007, 10:36 AM
Fantasy: sleep, read, scrap when I wanted.

Reality: Clean, clean and clean some more. Have a dinner party ready to go by sunday night, so lots of cooking thrown in with the cleaning. And because of all this, I get to miss the scrapping at church tonight.

Shel
April 13th, 2007, 11:35 AM

Oh, man, Shel. Stop. I am getting so jealous I can't take it anymore!

I went to garage sales with Katie this morning. She was oddly excited. Eventually, she mentioned that there was a Caillou where he went to a garage sale, so that made more sense to me. She managed to score a bunch of barbies for $1 (of her own money) and then people gave her a stack of little books and a little bear purse. So, I think her overall GS experience was a good one.

Dream weekend: Sleeping in until 10 with breakfast in bed. ( :lol2: ) And then spending the day at the beach in the sun.

Reality: Hmmm tomorrow I think we will be shopping for big girl bedding, a new dining room set since we got screwed with the other one we ordered, and LAUNDRY.

Wow Shel! that was tops on my list of things to do! LOL!

Dream would be some SPRING weather around here. I would take even 50s! and some SUN!!! I'd really prefer 80s and the beach with a fruity drink in my hands.

Reality is I need to clean all weekend, house AND garage for a dinner I am hosting on Monday night. I have relatives coming in and I offered my grandma to have it here so the kids could play outside, originally it was supposed to be 49 on Monday, now they are calling for 36! So that means everyone INSIDE.

Friends are coming over tonight to SIL's for dinner, drinks, and cards. Hopefully the kids will get along, some aren't feeling so hot today.

Tomorrow Josh might have a baseball practice if the fields are dry enough, I don't think they will be. I think he will want to go shopping with his birthday loot. I might take him to see the local high school play Saturday night, they are doing High School Musical.

Sunday all the guys/kids are going to see a Pirates game. The girls might hit the mall and Sams Club then home to clean.

I think we might go to a garage sale specifically for kids under 6 tomorrow. It's being held by a day care center, and I'm hoping that the kids will be amused there for a while. :) Anna LOVES garage sales, so one just for kids should really make her happy.

Reality: We are going to the mountains with another family this weekend to attend the Spring Splash a.k.a. last day of skiing and riding on the mountain. My daughter is taking a snowboard lesson, my son will sled and swim and Chris and I will be the parents paying for it all.

Karri, hope you trip was safe and you have a tonne of fun with the gals. (me slightly jealous)

Poor Sam :blue: I hope he gets better fast.

Well all my boys (including Tony) have what Jacob has now, coughing, spluttering, sneezing snot bubbles, pouring snot and temps. So my 1 sick has turned into 4 sick boys! can anyone say NIGHTMARE!!! I seem to be completely fine, but everyone else is sick and of course it's the end of the world for Tony cause apparantly having a cough and a runny nose is the worst thing that can happen to anybody NOT being pregnant and nursing 4 sick people  and not to mention that if I DO get this eventually I still have to continue looking after everyone and not be allowed to take any kind of medication for it. Oh but by all means, he has it tougher! (ok bitchfest over)

So swimming lessons are cancelled, and most probably real estate house viewing, if I can't get enough soup into him and medication to snap him out of it

I don't think we have any big plans. Michael is working until 8am tomorrow. And he goes back in for 24 on 8am on Sun. So that leaves us a grand total of abotu 24 hours of weekend time together.

MrsPeacefrog

You don't even know the half of it. He's a firefighter so his normal schedule is 24 on followed by 24 off every other day as it is. But in the last 3 weeks he's worked 142 hours of OT. :faint: It's insane. So the kids and I haven't seen him hardly at all in the last month. :(

The plus side is we decided to go ahead and do a last minute (well for us) trip to Disneyland since we're going to have so much extra $$ thanks to all that OT. That in about 3 weeks. I just booked the suite this morning. :bliss:

Thanks Mandi & Deb... the crazy weather passed by pretty fast but not without leaving some damage, thankfully not in our house but Blair said that we missed the worse by very little. A tornado hit a town about 10 miles from us! :errr: We got hail the size of golf balls & strong winds, one of our neighbors got a window on his car shattered by the hail. Other parts of the metroplex got baseball size hail & 100mph winds :errr:

My head is hurting again today & the boys are not helping either b/c they're just getting on each other's nerves, whinning & tattle telling :tearhair: Not sure if it's sinus, stress or AF causing the dang headache but I hope it goes away soon b/c I really want to go out with my MOPS group today. They're having a little fashion show/beauty tips/pampering session at Nordstroms, sounds fun & I really need some "Mommy" time
