I have a dilema.

I have put in a transfer request for Rebekah to go to Linthicum elementary next year for child care reasons (she would ride the bus to school and home from my mom's house, her babysitter). However, we won't know until July if she can go to Linthicum.

Today I registered her for kindergarten at our home school - Overlook. We have to register her there during K registration and then transfer her to Linthicum if she gets in there. If she goes to Overlook, she would be a walker/car rider and we don't have a way to get her to and from school if I keep my current work schedule. My mom might be able to do it but she might have my sister's daughter and then she can't so I can't plan on her doing it.

While registering her, I was given info about Kindergarten open house and it's May 23. I won't know which school she is going to by then.

So I called Linthicum and their orientation is May 24. The secretary said we were welcome to come to that orientation (understanding, of course, that she may not get in).

I'm thinking we need to go to both orientations. What do you think? I don't think there will be another opportunity to see the Kindergarten rooms and the school before the first day if we miss orientation.

I would definitely go to both. Whichever one she gets in at least you have gotten info from each one of them
I hope she gets to go to the one that your Mom will be able to help you :crossfing

I agree with everyone, I would rather be over-prepared than under-prepared.

I would go to both as well. Also, does the home school have before/after school available? A lot of schools in our area have that. That way maybe you could drop her off early each morning and pick her up later since your work schedule is different. :) Just a thought.

Of course you should go to both.

Both. It can't hurt to find out as much as possible about either school.

I agree that it's not a dilemma at all for you and the natural decision would be to go to both, it wouldn't even occur to me not to go :dunno:. You want to see what they are both like because she will be going to one or the other. But I see by the end of your post you pretty much answered your own question so deep down you knew what was right.
