I've read from several of you that you're reading chapter books with your kids. We're just starting this. Aidan's asked that we read the Magic Treehouse series, because they're reading them at school. (We're reading the later numbers to try to avoid repeats.)
I had suggested Stuart Little or a Junie B. June book, but this is what he wanted.
What chapter books are you reading/have you read with your kids?

We've done Charlotte's Web, all the Fudge books, Sheila the Great and now we're working on some Barbie chapter books she found at our neighbors yard sale. After his, we're going to either start Junie B Jones or Amelia Bedelia

We are reading the American Girl books, Little House books, and will be reading Charlottes Web. We are actually going to use the American Girl and Little House for a bit of American history next year for homeschool.

We've done all the Junie B. Jones and Captain Underpants books (I did think of your boys when I read those, Alyssa!) and we just started the Rainbow Fairies. Caroline is not quite ready for the Little House books yet - I have to explain too many things, so the story isn't easy enough for her to follow yet.

I vaguely heard of Captain Underpants...I do have a feeling those would be a hit! :giggle:
And Shel, glad to hear Fudge books are age appropriate. I love them, but wasn't sure how long I'd need to wait on those.

Riley loves Fudge, because he's just about as annoying as Owen is to her

I loved the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books when I was little. I'm not sure they're age appropriate or not. It's about a woman who helps kids learn to behave themselves in some crazy ways. Like, there's the "never want to go to bedders cure" where she tells the parents to let the kids stay up as late as they want. The kids learn pretty quickly that staying up too late makes them miss stuff during the day. Like they miss a birthday party because they slept too late to go, and they fell alseep during a movie and an usher had to let them out because they didn't wake up when it was over.
ETA: Amazon puts these as ages 8-12, so maybe not.
I liked the Ramona books when I was his age. I remember reading Ramona the Pest at his age with some help.

I tried chapter books...we did Charlotte's Web, but he hated every moment of it. So we're laying off for a bit so its not a negative thing for him.
I think my kid is a freak

We've read a couple from the Little House series, which Lilly adored and Connor claimed he hated....but then would ask a billion questions and retell the stories to grandparents, etc. We've also done The Secret Garden, Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little and Scott read them The Hobbit (which I totally didn't agree with -- too scary -- but they fell asleep nearly every time he read it to them!). He's tried to read Harry Potter to them, but they both claim it's too scary.
We have one of the Boxcar Children books, but haven't broken into it. And those Magic Treehouse books seem like they'd be a hit. Maybe this summer.

Janelle and I read the disney faries series...though I think there are a couple new ones now I need to buy.
We also have read a few American Girl books, the chapter books by the same author who writes Charlie and Lola, otherwise known as sheila the great (but she wasn't a big fan, some I'm saving the rest of the "fudge" series for later...I think superfudge would be fun for a little boy though)...
I just ordered a pack of romona books from her latest book order.
