This is a strange question I know  but how do you wash autographed clothes without washing off the autograph?
Harry went to the car races on the weekend and met a couple of drivers who autographed his shirt. He hasn't taken that thing off since and it is filthy. Luckily he's going to school today so I can wash it, but I don't want to wash away the autographs.
Any suggestions?

Well I can only think of one thing the kids had autographed and it was autographed with perminant marker..SO it wasn't coming off. Could you hand wash it in cold water? :dunno:

The only autographed shirt that I have was signed with a sharpie and sharpie does not come out of clothes so I've never had a problem.
Was the shirt signed with permanent marker?

That's what I was gonna ask. Eliot has an autographed baseball cap that I have only had to wash once, I washed it in delicate & air dried.

O.T. Yesterday at the zoo, Eliot was wearing such baseball cap (signed by Tony Stewart, race car driver, #20 Home Depot Nascar car). A guy standing by us in one of the exhibits asked me if the hat was really signed by Tony, I said yes that we stood in line for 4 hrs to get it, his reply... I'll buy if from you! :screwy: I smirk & told him... sorry, it's NOT for sale :disbelief:

I wasn't there so I'm not sure what type of marker it was. I'm hoping that it was a permanent one.
I just spoke to a friend who's had this situation before. She said to iron the signed part to seal the marker and then handwash, so I'll try that :crossfing

 I thought about it later that I should've told him that if he had $500 cash right there & there he could have it... though I think Eliot would've something to say about it since it's his favorite baseball cap
I was telling Blair about it and he said... man, you should've told him that your husband had one that he would be willing to sell  Yeah, I guess he's not as attached to it as Eliot is to his... I'll have to remember that next time

I ironed it and handwashed it and it seemed to have worked :aok: Now he can wear it to school tomorrow for show and tell (and then I'll have to wash it again   )
