Could anybody recommend a good one?
We have two, one is older (paid $40) and needs a new filter, the other one is more recent and has a internal filter (or whatever it's called, you can wash it), but I'm not happy with it, it goes through a tank of water in one night and is very noisy...does keep the room cool, though... that one was $50 at Target and i'm returning it.

Am I just not spending enough on these puppies? I would love to have one powerful enough for the whole second floor, and I have seen some at Target that are supposedly for the whole house or very large areas (i think $99),but i wonder if that would work with three separate bedrooms?

I think trying to have one humidifier for three bedrooms is going to be tough because it will be hard to get it to circulate into all the rooms. You'll definitely need to spend a bit more for one that strong.

that's what i was thinking, Dennis.. all those walls will prolly make it difficult.

Any good brand recommendations?

I like my Vick's Humidifier. It has the washable filter as well as a cleaning thing to keep the water *clean* inside the water compartment.

I think it was about $65 or so

I think the only true way to get a humidifier that will cover all rooms is to get one of those Aprilaire humidifiers added to your furnace. Otherwise you'll need to get one for each room. And you need to change the water daily if its not used up, anyway, or its going to get gross.
