Our washing machine stinks! Our clothes come out of the dryer ok smelling, but inside the washer is just vile. Anyone know how to get rid of that smell?

I don't, but have you washed it out with a bleach/water mixture or maybe vinegar/water mixture? Then maybe run a cycle of vinegar through it? :dunno:

Definatley try a white vinegar and water express cycle and then another one just water. That should do the trick.

What is the stink of? is it that damp smell, or is it like something has crawled in and died? I ask because maybe something is caught in there and until you get rid of it, the smell won't go away.

I would clean out all the filters and in where the softner goes too before doing a vinegar rinse to make sure it's all cleaned out.

Good luck!

Thanks! It smells like poop. I think that when someone put a pair of poopy pants in there they weren't rinsed out all of the way. i've done a couple of loads since then and it doesn't seem any better.

I will definitely try the vinegar this weekend! Thanks for the suggestions!

Mary - have you cleaned under the fabric softener cup? Stuff can get trapped in there and it can get nasty.

I mention it because I had my washer for almost a year before I knew it came out.

 Sheila! I have to remove my softner lid to put my detergent in the tube, and I didn't know that for a while either, I just put the liquid around the clothes until I realised that's what it's for! Maybe I should have read the manual :giggle:

Good luck, Mary. Hope the poop smell goes away
