In Alysaa's thread, a lot of us confessed to being very particular about the loading of the dishwasher. Spill details - what does the family do that drives you crazy.

We have a dish drawer, and DH still hasn't learned to load it propertly (but has gotten a bit better). He never puts the large bowls where they are "supposed" to be to take up less space. He also doesn't sit the plates up straight, but tips them forward :gah: And he leaves spaces between plates.

I'm very particular about loading the dishwasher. Keith'll put a large, square Rubbermaid food storage container on the top shelf. It takes the space of about 5 bowls and/or glasses. :gah:
Also, our silverware basket has 6 different openings, but if you look at Keith's loading capabilities, you'd think we had just one spot. All of the silverware is crammed in there all willy nilly. :errr:

He faces the bowls perpendicular to the little spaces made just for bowls. It takes up more room and just doesn't make any sense! :screwy:

I have to separate silverware according to utensil tye (forks go with forks, etc.) and nothing else can go in that basket.
John will run the dishwasher when it's just half full :gah: That *KILLS* me!

Glasses on the right hand top side, bowls on the left. And he will lay the bowls down flat instead of angling them against each other so that you can only get 3-4 bowls in the row instead of 8. Also, silverware is separated by size AND item in the silverware rack - so all the dessert forks go together in one section, and the dinner forks go in another section.

That's chris! :gah:
On the bottom, the big plates go in the immediate front, smaller plates in the back. He just sticks shit in willy-nilly and bowls all over the place.
You have to strategically load to get a day's worth of dishes in for our family of 5. If I let him load for the day, we'd be running the damn thing twice and half the shit that's in there wouldn't be clean.

The other thing he does is overlap shit so that there's no way it will get clean. :gah:

I thought I was the only one but I can see now that I'm in good company
I can't stand the way Blair loads the dishwasher especially the sippy cups & big cooking utensils. We have a little basket for the sippy cups vents but he just lays them on the top shelf like they're not going to fly off when washing, is it so hard to open the little basket? And the long cooking utensils he'll put them in the bottom silverwear basket so when you try to open the top one it gets stuck :gah:
He doesn't seem to understand that if things are arranged in there neatly instead of just thrown in there more will fit & we will only had to run it once with all the dishes of the day.

I also line up the sippy cups and lids on one side of the top rack and Tim will just put them wherever.

Lee does a lot of the things already mentioned: puts the big Rubbermaid that makes no sense if you want to maximize space, loads bowls sideways, puts giant bowls in that should just get hand washed b/c they take up too much space, puts sippies in willy nilly, etc. My way is very particular, but very efficient and everything gets clean. He'll also put the little bowls (the smallest Tupperwares or baby bowls) in the bottom when they need to go on top.

It's nice to see I am not the only one crazy about dishwasher loading! Chris has done all of the things mentioned - loading bowls flat, plates leaning, etc. I also have to have silverware loaded handle down and spread out (not all of one type together, opposite of others!). My dishwasher is backwards of every dishwasher I've ever had where the tall stuff goes on the TOP rather than the bottom...that kinda makes me nuts but I can't change that without buying a new dishwasher!

What really gets me is we still use sippy cups, DH will not take the rubber stopper out of the sippy lid and put it in the basket that is there specifically for the sippy stoppers!!!! :gah: That and with our bowl holder, we have three smaller Katie sized bowls and then regular adult bowls. If we used the small bowls I'll put them in the bowl holder first then add the adult bowls. He'll put them in mishmash. Lastly, I hand wash my cutting boards because we use them more often than the dishwasher is run. He insists on putting them into the dishwasher every time.

Karri - that's what my DH would say about me!!
Neither Paul or I likes the way the other loads the dishwasher. :heee: If one of us starts it, we let that person finish because it's just too frustrating otherwise.
My problem with Paul is that he tries to pile too much stuff in the top rack. Bowls can go down below instead of being crammed all on the top rack and I like to arrange the plates in an certain order instead of just cramming them in wherever they'll fit.
He also piles stuff layers deep on the top shelf and just throws the silverware in the rack instead of making sure that each piece is fitting into the space. Everytime Paul loads, there's 1-2 things that need to go through again.
One thing I am happy about, though, is that neither one of us will run the washer unless it's totally full....it's just more full when Paul does it.

Seth just refuses to scrub the dishes before loading them. I hate food particles. :gah:

The way I look at it is - if he's willing to load it, I'm willing to shut my mouth about how he does it!

I agree Karly..actually it's DH who is anal about how the dishwasher is loaded :shuffle: he constantly goes behind me and fixes it
