I saw this thread at UB.
I plan on staying home at least until youngest kid is in school. Then maybe get a PT job so I can be here when they get home from school. Or maybe volunteer at school etc.
We also may homeschool so it would be a lot longer than.

I plan on staying home until Madison is about a year old if things go well. If she doesnt take well to me not being around I might stay home longer. I plan on going to school around that time.

As of now, I plan on staying home indefinitely. I want to be able to be here when my children come home from school and I want to be active in their schools, too.
Maybe I'd get a parttime job at some point, but I don't know. :dunno: I should, simply because even though I've contributed to Social Security through all my paychecks, I'm not quite vested in the system--so if the system continues to exist, I'll never be able to get benefits from it unless I work a little bit more.

Like others, our ideal plan is for me to stay home until the youngest child goes to school (since we're not even TTC #2 yet, that's a while away!) and then get a part time job so I can be home when they get home from school.

I plan to stay home as long as we can afford it. I would like to be home with Lane until he is in school but only time will tell.

I hope to stay at home until our youngest is in school... not that we have a youngest yet
Eventually, I would like to start a scrapbooking business from my home, so that will give me the flexiblilty I need to be with them after school, and also to be active in their schools and classrooms.

I work about 5 hours a week with my own business but Alex's meme keeps her at our home for us. I plan on staying home with our kids and not working much more than 5 hours a week until they are in school. Once our kids are in school, I would like to increase my hours to about 15 a week but still be available to take the kids to and from school and help out with field trips and room mom stuff. :)

We also have the plan for me to stay home until our youngest is in school (I'd like our kids to be 3-4 years apart, so that's still a while off!) and then think about something part-time.

My husband likes me at home, and I love being here. DH says I never have to work if I don't want to. I want to also be able to be home when Aiden comes home from school and be active in his activities (our PTA in our district is supposedly the largest in Ohio).
I would like to do some sewing on the side, as I've become a pretty talented seamstress... but that's more to help pay for my fabric purchases than anything.

:dunno: I haven't thought about it too much. I want to finish school first. I only need 3 more classes and an internship, so that isn't too much longer. I would think that I would go to work after that so I can get a bit of experience in.

Indefinately. I want to be able to be home in the morning and after school and be involved in my kids' school, as well. If I have extra time on my hands, I would love to do some volunteering. No more corporate america, though. Its not for me.

Hopefully, I'm here for the duration. Ideally, our business will get more busy, and I will start doing more work while I am home. I, too, am done with corporate america (if I can help it!)

I too am done with corporate America, if I can help it. I am contemplating getting my teaching certificate and teaching once my kids are school-age, hopefully part-time. But that would be it for me...no more cubicles or office politics!

I'll be here at least until Katie is in school, and then I'd like to work part-time from home while she's in school. I'd like to be able to be active in her school, and to be here in the mornings and after school, but I'd like to have a little something of my own as well. I'm thinking of trying to do some freelance writing, and seeing where that takes me. :)

At least until our youngest is in school full-time, and if I do go back then, it will be something part-time. I'd like to be able to be around when the kids come home from school, and to help out at their schools. My Dh is pretty supportive of me being at home, so as long as we can continue to afford it, I'm here for awhile yet!

OK I want to change my answer. Since Im kind of wanting another baby sooner than before, I'd really love to stay home until they go to school. Thats my dream but who knows if we will be able to afford it.

Like others have said, until the youngest is in school. And then it would only be a part time thing. I want to be here for my kids as much as possible!

Looks like we all pretty much have the same plans/views on this. :)
I plan to be a SAHM minimally until the kids start school. I may find a very, very part-time job...so it will also give me the time to be involved in my kid's school (yes, a PTA mom! ) and anything like that...and to be home when they get home from school. OR I may not even do that at all and it will be indefinately for me and will never return to work....and I will go in the direction of maybe starting something up that I enjoy doing (calligraphy, start to scrapbook, poems, art, etc.) AND also being a PTA mom too. :)
Either way....I want to be there lots for my kids! :)

For right now my plan is to stay home until our youngest is in school full time. Then my plan (and we'll see how that goes) is to go back to school to get my nursing degree. I *may* look at doing something part time in the mean time...it will depend on how things go.
