I wasn't sure where to put this. If it would go better someplace else, please move it.

Yesterday, I had to take Daniel to the ped's office because he was sick (more ear infections). While I was there, I asked the physician's assistant about him pooping 4+ times a day and if that was normal. I also mentioned that he seems to have a very sensitive and irregular system.

She gave me an "elimination diet" to try with him to determine if he has any food sensitivities, like wheat, etc. It has a list of things he can have and a very long list of foods to eliminate. Then one by one we add them back in.

Has anyone had to do this to determine if your child has food sensitivites? What diet did you use? Is there a book I can read? The papers she gave me were just photocopies. Anyone have any tips or hints?

We're going to wait a few weeks to try this because he's on antibiotics right now. So I have time to do a little research.

I had to follow an elimination diet before as well as my brother.
The first two weeks I could only eat the least allergenic foods. Not sure if I remember all of them, but it was mainly everything rice (rice, rice pasta, rice drink)potatoes and lean turkey/lamb. Vegetables I can't remember much: yellow squash and zucchini I think.

The third week, my mother added other food items back starting with not so commonly allergic items (like salmon, carrots, oats), but only one extra food at a time.
Can't quite remember in which order, but wheat, nut products came pretty late, egg as well, dairy/soy was last.

I forgot: citrus fruits are pretty late in the diet, too.
