As a spin-off to Nichole's thread
Do you have a theme in your kitchen? If so, what is it? And why did you choose it?

Ours doesn't really have a theme, per se. The walls are hot cocoa brown, cabinets are cream, counter is black. There are two cobalt blue pendant lights over the peninsula, so I have a lot of cobalt accent stuff (including our glasses and some of the plates.) That's about it, though. I haven't gotten around to hanging anything on the walls (aside from a watercolor my brother did, that has brown and cobalt in it), and now we're going to be moving so I'm not even going to bother. :blush1:

OUr kitchen is in the middle of a redoing  We are doing an Arkansas Razorback theme. Painting the walls red down to the wainscotting, which is brown, painting the cabinets a white/gray color and removing the centers, replacing with frosted plexi-glass to kind of open it up a bit. We are going to put in new countertops that will be dark silestone, more than likely (that is a ways down the road right now  ) and we are tiling the floor with black and white tile - think old diner-type tile

I am trying to start over with a theme of those little chef guys. Since we just moved, I haven't really accomplished this yet. I bought 2 pictures for the walls and my mom sent me some towels with the little guys on them. But, I still need to rip down the fugly wallpaper that is currently in the kitchen and pick a paint color!
I was debating between a Wine theme and the Chef theme but the Chefs won.
I think they are cute and fun.
This is not what I have... but it's similar.

I don't have a theme either. Our cabinets are cherry, our Corian is a grey speckle, and our walls are blue. We have cream wainscoting in our dining area that doesn't really go with the rest of the kitchen. :dunno:
I changed the knobs to nickle a few months ago and am in search of a pendant light for above our sink and a new ceiling fixture for above our table in nickle too.
I have nothing on the walls simply because I can't find anything I like. I am hugely pickey about that stuff. I have a brushed nickle clock and that's it. So boring. :boring:

The theme in my kitchen is sort of a "big mess" meets "trying to keep it clean." It tends more to the "big mess" side of the scale.

I want an Italian (Tuscan) themed kitchen - not too themey though. Yellow, with some blues and creams. I love the cabinets and counter top / backspash. However the floor has got to go at some point. The things on the country tend to be cobalt (or black) so I'll add very few more items as it's not a big kitchen at all.

That sounds about right to me!
If anything, the theme in my kitchen is "Survivor!"

we have an apple theme. The walls are white, countertops are green marble looking and then we have medium oak cabinets, we also have a wallpaper border across the top of the wall with an apple basket type design.

Same here! I was going to say that our theme is "Counter Clutter."

No theme. Right now, its red, khaki and white....with the walls in the kitchen being the khaki and the cabinets white and the walls in the adjoining hall areas the red. I bought matching cafe curtains from PB that match the colors exactly.
However, the cabinets need repainting, so I think we're going to do a whole new color scheme.
We're thinking of a soft green (sageish?) for the cabinets and then a cream for the walls.

Our walls are painted a light blue/gray and white marble, and the curtains and everything else are blue and white toile. Not really a theme, but a color scheme I guess :)

Our kitchen theme is "rental hell." Half the walls are textured wallpaper that's been painted over, waterstained in many places where the upstairs shower leaked through. The rest of the walls have large baby blue tiles. The look is complimented by two fluorescent ceiling lights, which nicely showcase the 1960s appliances. And of course the combo washer/dryer is part of the room as well.

Red walls, wood cabinets with a rooster theme.
Ditto!!! :giggle:
I'm going to be painting the cupboards an antique white and getting new nickle hardware for them as well. That will make my kitchen: red walls, white cabinets, nickle hardware and light fixtures with some black accents (pot rack, "home" hook wall thingy, plate rack) along with roosters.
:secret: I got the paint from Brook... she got the rooster theme from me!

Ours is more of a color scheme of cream/burgundy/green, with accents of green/burgundy grapes (curtains, towels, a picture Shel gave me for Christmas, etc.)

Yeah, I got a little sick when I typed that. I don't usually think about it in US dollars. But then, the 2 bedroom apt where we lived (in London) 5 years ago was the equivalent of $4600 a month. It was nice, but not all that.

I am in the "fugly wallpaper" category. It's dark charcoal gray and clearly left over from the early 90s redo. Counters are black and cabinets are light wood. I want to keep the cabinets and countertop and paint the walls yellowy/creamy and replace the white tile with a darker color. In time... At least we replaced the huge 80s space-age chandelier.

My walls are red/burgandy with oak cabinets, black counter and stainless steel appliances. I have two pictures on my walls. They are both chefs one is holding a bottle of wine and the other a lobster.

Add in "horrifying" and "wallpaper nightmare" and that's mine.
The only room we haven't redone....we don't know where to start.

Alysia, that's my theme, too. Red, black & white with minature chefs all over. I love it!

My theme is "tiny" My kitchen is WAY too small for a family of 5. Other than that, no theme.

I just like cobalt blue in a kitchen, so I have a bunch of touches that are this blue. :) Some bottles in the window....my kitchen towels.....the lighting. :)
I'll see if I have a decent pic on Shutterfly......

This is a very sad, old picture of our house. This is when we were finishing up the remodel, so the floor is done, but we were still unpacking boxes.....so there's crap everywhere. I need to take a better picture at some point and I'll post it if we do another "let's see your kitchen" thread. :awink:
In any case, you can see some of the blue touches - the pitcher above the fridge, etc.

Fugly wallpaper on mine too! And some of it is ripped off, thanks to me getting bored when talking on the phone!
Someday, I hope to have a French provencial look to it, bright yellow, green, blue and reds.
The mauve countertop that is here currently clashes with my ideas though. Not for long! Hello Alimony! :bliss:

Add me to those to don't really have a theme. I went to Cali for a week and came back and the kitchen was painted a sea green color. Not bad, but not something that really matched anything I had in the kitchen either.
One day I would love to go with the Feista colors for my kitchen ~ not really a theme, but colorful.

The walls are red except for this half wall in the nook. This is a really crappy pictures. Our cabinets are the same color as the table. We are looking for new cabinent hardware and I want to tile the floor. We have decorated with things we have brought back from Mexico.

I don't have a theme either. I guess you could call it "rental boring." The floor, cabinets, and appliances are white, and the counter tops are a stone color. I really didn't decorate in the kitchen when we moved in. The only decor (besides the clutter) is Jackson art. It is all over the pantry door. I also have a cobalt blue Kitchen Aid mixer on the cabinet and a couple cobalt blue bottles I got in Venice...I had more cobalt stuff at one point, but I don't think I ever unpacked it when we moved.

We haven't really had a 'theme' but now that we're moving into our house I'm having a hard time deciding. I have a rug and some towels that I really like from Crate & Barrell that are like a brown and light turquoise-ish blue with some cream color and a very little bit of a light green in them. I love them, but can't decide how to paint the walls... The cabinets are like an oak color... Any ideas?

I have had Sunflowers in my kitchen for 6 years. I am ready to change it. I just have no idea as to what. We have cherry wood cabinets and ugly counters. My appliances are black. I need something light and flowy. Ideas???
