View Full Version : How do you store your toothbrushes?

What's your set up for toothbrush storage? A pic of something similar to what you have would be cool if you can find it. :)
We have something like this
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00062L8XA.16._SCMZZZZZZZ_SS128_.jpg
but ours is just purple/amethyst colored glass and I have the top holey thing off (it's not attached like the pic above) because we have more than 4 toothbrushes in there. Sometimes I forget to clean it out and the inside bottom gets a little mungy. :shuffle:

I have one similar to that but the top doesn't come off. However, my toothbrush is the only one in there b/c no one else uses my bathroom  I just throw it in the dishwasher from time to time. Mine is cream colored and has a michelangelo angel rasied relief-type thing on it and an aging-type stain on it :dunno:

Paul and I use battery operated toothbrushes, so they just sit on the counter.
The kids have this

We have a fish that kind of looks like this, but cuter.

Ours is blue and has a big smile instead of the lips.

We just have a plain white toothbrush holder like the one you showed, Nichole. "cept the top doesnt come off. I run it through the dishwasher quite often to keep it clean.
In Genavieve's bathroom, I have her toothbrush and toothpaste in a Welch's Jelly Jar that has a Curious George scene on it.

Mine is battery powered so it sits inside the medicine cabinet on its side. Keith's sits in a cup that I run through the dishwasher. Aaron's has little suction cups on the bottom of it so it sits on a shelf in our medicine cabinet.

Hmm, Kohl's online doesn't seem to have the one the kids have in their bathroom... it's a little green kitty. We have the whole kitties & doggies bathroom set.
In the master bathroom we have one that is black with gold specs... though I have been wanting to redo that bathroom since the stuff we have right now is from the last house.

Dude, why didn't I think of running it through the dishwasher?! :duh: I usually just clean it out by hand.

We used to have a toothbrush holder, but lately the toothbrushes we've been getting from the dentist don't fit in there. The handle is too wide. So mine just sits on the counter. Phil has a battery-powered one.

Nichole
We have a stainless steel tumbler (i think it was meant as a bathroom drinking cup) that sits on the shelf in the linen closet. We've got too many toothbrushes and tongue scrapers to have one w/ the holes in it. I run it through the dishwasher every week when I clean the bathroom b/c the goop on the bottom freaks me out.

This is sort of like ours. The bottom of ours is white ceramic, but you get the idea. It works.

Stacey, I've been thinking of getting one like that. Do you like it? Is it tippy?
Stacey
February 8th, 2007, 02:39 PM
I do like it. Ours isn't especially tippy. We do have to put the kids' toothbrushes in upside-down though b/c the handles are too fat to fit through the holes. So they sort of hang. The heads don't touch the bottom.
I like that it's all exposed, so there's no grossness lurking anywhere.

 That's why I've been considering one like that. I'm glad to hear that you like it. :aok:

never mind, Stacey deleted

That didn't work. I was just going to say that the kids use the Oral-B Stages toothbrushes, not any electric ones or anything. But the hanging kid brushes doesn't bother me.

I know. How nutty was that?

Ah, so here is your total gross out of the day. Make sure you keep your toothbrush holder far away from your toilet. I read an article once that said over 70% of toothbrushes contained fecal bacteria because when you flush it can spray icky stuff up and it can land on your toothbrushes.
It was a very scientific article. I should dig to find it online so I don't sound like such a putz trying to explain it

That's a nice concept. I wish the makers of those things weren't prejeduced against families of more than 4.

Our new one is similar. I like the wider base on this one though.
Ours collects gunk and I was going to look for a new one LOL.
Nichole, I always scrubbed mine out too, never thought of the dishwasher either!:silly:

We just keep ours in a dawer with the toothpaste and floss.

I have one the same general shape as Nichole's but in a random checkered pattern. The only problem with using it is that the top doesn't come out, so our huge battery-powered toothbrushes won't fit in. So they just sit on the side of each of our sinks.

We have something very similar to this in both bathrooms, DH and Paddy have electric toothbrushes so they sit on the cabinet.

We have one similiar to what Nichole posted. But it's from the set that I've had forever and I want to get a new set of stuff for the bathroom. And I want to get one where the toothbrushes are covered due to the toilet-flushing stories.

We have a cabinet in the bathroom that has frosted glass that holds extra washclothes, toilet paper, canisters of cotton balls and q tips. Since hearing of the disgusting bacteria floating through the air and since the kids toothbrushes are all in the main hall bathroom and I don't like the look or idea of them sitting out for the whole world to touch anyway, theres are in a similiar 4 holed holder like most of you showed but in the cabinet so they won't be out in sight or for ickys to get on them. :)

We both have electric toothbrushes and they have their own little stands that recharge.

Most of the time I leave mine on the edge of the sink to dry :shuffle: dh puts his in the drawer. I've had a million toothbrush holders but I got so grossed out from cleaning them ( and other peoples when I cleaned homes :dead: ) I tossed them and just used a regular glass..the girls toothbrushes are in the second bathroom in a glass.

yup those creepy germy articles got me too so mine is in the closet in the hall.
though DH constantly tells me that when Mythbusters did the episode, they found there was no difference how far away you stored it the yuck got on there...skeeves me out so I choose not to believe him
