What do you do with your used candle jars?

I absolutely HATE to throw them away b/c they are pretty and useful, but I have some that I can't get all of the candle wax out of and some that have stuck-on black sooty-type stuff around the mouth. . . any advice?

I cleaned out about 15 of them today, put them in the oven on low to melt the wax, then took them out one at a time, poured cold water in to quick-harden the wax and then dig it out. . .but there is always some wax left and the jars never get really clean. . .

:gah:

Advice?

Freezer. I freeze mine, then the wax should all come out in one big clump.

Something funny about this. Rick's mother LOVES candles. Once Christmas, they gave all the family members a pretty, clean jar with red and green m&ms in them. We all thought it was a great way to recycle the jars. Wouldn't you know all of the candy tasted like candle wax? They must have absorbed some of the smell that remained in the jar once it was sealed with the candy inside. BLEH.

That's what I was going to ask - what would you reuse them for? :dunno:

I reuse them for storage for scrapping stuff and for my beads/jewelry stuff and the girls' hair stuff. . .all kinds of things :dunno:

I have chipboard letters, buttons, sewing supplies etc in some. I use them to set out silverware when we have company and do a buffet type meal.
