Are you happy that reputation is gone?

Yes and no. I'm happy that people's feelings won't be hurt anymore. It seems like there were a couple of attacks just to be cruel, and that's not cool. At the same time, it was fun as long as everyone was using it in the way that it was intended to be used.

It is nice to see it gone but I honestly think that some hostility will still stay around. Alot of people's feelings got hurt over the past few months.
It definatley brought people's true colors out that is for sure. Not sure if that was on purpose or not.

Meh. I don't care one way or the other. I think its good because some of the negative reps for stupid things led to whole other problems, but I also think some peoples' reactions to getting negatives was way over the top for just a silly "game".

I think the reason why it's gone is pretty sad. We should all just act like adults here and be courteous to one another. We may not always agree with what others do with their lives or of their opinions but that's no reason to question people or say negative things towards them.
To me, it doesn't really make much of a difference that it's gone. I didn't use it much and when I did it was just to say something positive or funny or offer my support. Honestly, most of the time I forgot to sign off on it but I never sent anything negative. There's no point to that.

eh! I never really used it much but was happy to see when I got some rep. Although in the end I think it was causing more trouble than it was worth. During the Nov posting party it was a lot of fun. :)

I liked the positive rep in November too. I think negatives felt personal whether or not they were meant to be, so they didn't serve any constructive purpose. Glad that's gone. No reason for anyone to have hurt feelings over such a small vague thing.

YES!!! YES!!! and a thousand times YES!!! In just the past couple of weeks 2 of my friends feelings have been VERY hurt because of rep. To me it didn't make sense in the first place. I mean, if you don't agree with what someone has to say, either keep your trap shut or say something to them in person... Don't hide behind a bad rep!!! It's very easy for something written out over a message board to be taken the wrong way. It might have been nothing more than a misunderstanding of the actual meaning of what was "said".
To Sheila and the mod's: Thank you for taking this situation under deep consideration and removing the rep feature.
Now, on a side note... wasn't there some mention awhile back of the "giving gifts" or "points" feature? I know that the gifts can be closely related to the rep and we just got rid of that but the gifts, really, can only be given for the good, right? What was the reasoning for not doing that? I kind of missed the end of the thread it was mentioned in before.

With the hurt feelings the rep caused, I will not consider adding the gifts/points system at all.

I liked being able to let people know I was thinking of them or that I agreed with them. I think it would've been better if there wasn't an option for the negative. But I kinda forgot about it once the November posting party was over.

Having missed out on the November thing, I didn't really get to participate, but after learning it would probably be going away, I went and repped everyone I could
I agree with Anne and Karri that people went way over the top with their responses to negatives and I think it is sad that it was taken away because of that.
On other boards I am on (and one that I admin) we have a karma system - no comments, you just give someone a +1 or -1, depending on the post - or you can not do either, it is stricly voluntary.
I read through that whole thread about "what comments did you get" and I was really amazed at how some people did use the feature as a way to be snarky behind people's backs. That is really immature and stupid. I think that people should behave as adults and if you have something to say, just say it rather than trying to be all sneaky. Thats just immature, rude and serves no constructive purpose. :loser:

After all the stir-up it caused, yes, but I did like reading those funny comments. The hiding behind the annonymous neg comments were low-shots/immature...call it whateva.

I thought it was fun to spread rep during the November party but I haven't really used it much since then.
I'm more than a little surprised by how the whole thing turned into a big negative. :blue:

It was fun during the November Posting party. Then it got ugly and very immature. I did not care for the way it was being used (negative) and honestly am glad that it's gone.

Like others have said, I thought it was fun at first, but it spiraled into something ugly, so I'm glad it is gone now.

I'm glad it's gone because of how it was set up. If it automatically posted your name when you gave rep, I'd be all for it. Too many people used it to hide behind to be just plain nasty.

I like monkeys.

Wait, you mean the QOTD isn't about monkeys? I hate it when I get behind on here.
The good thing about no rep is that now I can be EVEN MORE annoying and you all can't zap me with your rep zappers. :vibes:
http://www.smileypad.com/v202/Cache/Misc/Typing.gif The bad thing is that I had fun giving it. Not always fun receiving it ;) but fun giving it.

I don't care either way. I liked the November party stuff that happened and loved giving rep.
However, the negatives lately have been more than just "Your post sucked" and got ugly and malicious. So I'm glad the negative rep stuff is gone.

Tells you how much attention I paid to it: I didn't even know it was gone until I read this thread.
I don't care either way. Even in November I didn't really take much notice of it since I had just had a baby and wasn't really participating in the Posting party. I am sad though that things got ugly though :(

I didn't use it so really don't care that it's gone, but the reactions to it were way over the top IMO.

Don't really care. I see however, that several people have mentioned reactions were over the top - I have to wonder if those same people realize just how ugly and FOUL some of the reputation remarks were? :dunno: Unfortunately, something that was supposed to be fun was turned into something people used as a means to anonymously (and immaturely) attack people. How sad.

I do, I was attacked very harshly in the rep by an anon person, but I did not make a fuss about it in the open at all because to be brutally honest, I don't give two shits what some random anon person thinks of me. I only take into account what a person says when I know who that person is and even then I decide whether I am going to care or not based on my relationship with that person, the rest I shrug off! But that is me, it's obvious not everyone uses these same tactics in life and that was apparent by the reactions that happened.
I am another one who doesn't really care either way if it was here or not. I am happy to see it gone only because it will mean we don't have the constant on going thread about the problems it caused.
I am just PMing people now when I agree with what they are saying  these people know who they are :awink:
I also don't think this is an issue with the board as a whole and using this as an example for the board is the wrong thing to do, I believe this happens EVERYWHERE not only online but IRL too.

Oh Deb, I don't disagree! I was attacked by MANY people (given the limitations of giving out reputation it was by more than a handful of members) yet I never said a word about it. Their opinion - since they were so cowardly as to not leave their names, but I have a very good idea who they are - means very little to me as I find them trite and insignificant.
But I am not fool enough to think that I was the only one it happened to and I KNOW that the comments I got would have been enough to hurt others' feelings - quite badly, I might add. I honestly can't imagine (although I haven't seen any of it) that ANY stink about it would have been too much. JMHO! :aok:

I have to admit how interesting I find it that so many people who are so upset about anonymous negative feedback also left anonymous negative feedback.

Wow...that would be kind of surprising! I guess at the end of the day, it all boils down to each individual being content with how they treat people, doesn't it? It's just sad that some people's standards are so much lower than others'. :(

I thought that it was fun in November. It's too bad that some people used it as a way to express their negative thoughts about other people & their thoughts without acknowledging their own identity.
I have to admit how interesting I find it that so many people who are so upset about anonymous negative feedback also left anonymous negative feedback.
Interesting. I guess I would think that people easily upset by negatives wouldn't pass them on themselves. Guess I'm wrong :dunno:

And it's for these reasons that I found the whole uproar amusing. I can't believe the gall of some people who are willing to dish it out but can't take it in return!

There were some people who never dished out and still got negative feedback simply because some people didn't like them.
I feel so so about the rep thing. I liked it during the November posting party. It was fun giving positive rep. I never gave negative rep. But I am not shedding tears over the fact that it is over.
