Here's our journal, ladies :)

I know we've done this before.. but lets start by answering some questions and introducing ourselves:

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
2) How long have you been a SAHM?
3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
My name is Jen, 32... DH is Kristofer, 33... Babies are Zoe, 20 months and Ellie, 8 1/2 weeks
2) How long have you been a SAHM?
I've been truly JUST a SAHM since November when I decided I was just too tired to work anymore.
3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
I was (am, I suppose, heh) an early intervention speech language pathologist.
4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
Ahah! This is the kicker. As I said in my original post... my priorites are:
1) Zoe and Ellie
2) Me
3) Kris
4) Household stuff...

Seeing as how number 4 is LAST on the list... I admit... that is the last thing to get done  I must admit... it is driving me CRAZY not to be able to keep the house in order like I used to. My greatest desire is to hire a housekeeper to come clean once a week  ... but for right now it is NOT in our budget. Kris is definitely NOT for finding the money to pay for that expense... he thinks if I allocate my time better than I can get all the house stuff done each week without a problem. HA! Well... we shall see... since I haven't REALLY tried yet
5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?
SO... my goal for this journal is to outline what I want to do each day... set goals... and hopefully stick to them since I have you ladies to come be accountable to :)

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
I'm Sarah and am married to Brian. Katie (Kathleen Grace) is our baby and she is three months old.

2) How long have you been a SAHM?
Due to a rough pregnancy and a deteriorating job situation, I quit working midway through my pregnancy (so, in July of 2003.)

3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
I worked as an assistant director of admission at a college in New England.

4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
I don't want to make a list (because I tend to feel like a failure if I don't achieve everything on a list) but I do need to make myself more of a priority. Katie is a huge priority in my life and I tend to invest all of my time into making her happy...and each day it feels like I'm losing a bit more of myself. I need to make time to do the things that I love and that make me feel like myself.

5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?
Friendship and support from other women who are staying home with their babies.

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...) I'm Andrea (29) DH is John (33) and Gabrielle Carmella is our DD (14 months, 1-5-03)

2) How long have you been a SAHM? since Gabrielle was born (4 weeks early)

3) What did you do before this wonderful new job? I taught preschool for 4 years and subbed in elementary school before that

4) What are your priorities for each day? My only priority is Gabrielle. Everything else comes in second. Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day? Definately cleaning the house  I am a horrible house keeper. I just keep puttin it off b/c I have too much time.

5) What do you hope to get out of this journal? Not really sure. Maybe some ideas of how to balance my priorities.

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
I'm Anne, and I'm married to Phil. Our DD is Katie (Katie Gabrielle) and she'll be two on May 8th.
2) How long have you been a SAHM?
I became a SAHM in April 2002, but I was a WAHM from Sept. 2002 through Feb. 2003. I've been a full-time SAHM for about a year now.
3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
Before I had Katie, I was a paralegal for a large corporate law firm in Seattle. I was working on a Philip Morris lawsuit (as defendant's counsel) so I guess it's karma that I now have lung problems (not related to smoking - I've never been a smoker) and couldn't work, even if I wanted to.
4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
Well, right now, I'm getting treated for my lung disease and coping with the disease itself and the effects of the treatments, which are making me sick. Also, we're getting ready to move out of our house in less than two weeks, and move in with the ILs for a few months as we wait for our new house to be finished. Plus, I'm trying to help my DH apply for his Master's program, which starts next month. So, I'm really in survival mode right now.
5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?
Eventually, I'd like to get some accountability for every day type things, like working on cleaning one area of the house per day, and being more organized about the time I spend with my DD. However, right now, I could just use some moral support to make it through the next few months. I'm thinking things will be a little more calm by the end of June, or early July, but until then, life is going to be crazy!

Thanks Andrea. I'm going to survive, but it's not all that much fun right now. :( And poor DH has pretty much all of the household responsibilities, so I can focus on getting better. Sooo... getting better is my only *real* goal at this point. A good one, though, right? :)

Anne, I'm sorry to read about your lung problem as well :bighug: When was it diagnosed and how long do they predict recovery will be? It sounds like you have SO much going on right now. I can totally understand just being in survival mode. I hope you get the support you need here. I also hope your stay at your IL's won't be too stressful. I know that would drive me insane! I don't even like going on vacations all that much.. I am a major home body.

Andrea, Where are you in New Jersey?

Soo.... maybe we should set some goals to accomplish for ourselves. Set any goal you want. I think I'll do daily goals... that should keep me on track. And maybe I'll have bigger weekly goals too... Maybe. My goal for tomorrow is to: Get the house clean! I'll be happy if I can just run the vacuum cleaner around the downstairs tomorrow... and MAYBE mop the kitchen floor. That's the only goal I'll set for housework stuff. The rest I'll just feel out as I go along.

I did pretty good today... I discovered a wonderful device... I'd forgotten all about it! It's called a SWING  I put Ellie in the swing for the first time this morning and she was OUT like a light for 2 hours!!! I got SO much done! I picked up a bit downstairs... putting toys away and other things where they needed to go... then put Zoe on a video and jogged on the treadmill. I felt so productive :) I even got out to the grocery store this afternoon. That was about it for me. Zoe and I did a few art projects this morning... I played with her for about 20 minutes on the computer letting her learn her mouse skills with her Reader Rabbit software.. I spent quite a bit of time with Ellie... playing peek a boo.. giving her tummy time... and I made dinner. Overall, I feel good about the day... but now I'm exhausted!

Thanks Jen. :bighug: I was diagnosed after a lung biopsy last summer. I was *supposed* to be recovered back in September, when they started me on Prednisone, but things didn't exactly go according to plan. At this point, they don't know why my lungs are continuing to get worse, so they have no idea how to fix it, or how long it will take. They're basically just guessing about everything, now. So, it could be as soon as this weekend (when we'll know whether my current treatment worked), or as long as years from now, until I'm healed. And honestly, I might never be... but we're not going to think about that. :disbelief
Fortunately, my ILs are wonderful, and we get along great, so it shouldn't be TOO bad, but it will be interesting to be a SAHM in someone else's house, especially since my MIL is retired. Fortunately, we (DD and I) are going to visit my parents for two weeks during that time, and the ILs will be on vacations during part of the time as well. So it won't be as bad as it could be. We actually lived with them for 5 months before we bought this house (and we conceived our daughter there) so it's not TOO bad a place!

My goals for tomorrow (Wednesday):
1. Survive my third treatment.
2. Take the blood test results in stride, whatever they are.
3. Call the options lady for our new house and arrange to drop off the check.
4. Drop off library books and pick up the ones I have on hold.

I think that is plenty for one day!

JenM
March 10th, 2004, 07:02 AM
I agree! Plenty for one day! Good luck today :bighug: Please check back in and let us know how everything went.

I am EXHAUSTED this morning :( I didn't get to bed until 11pm (bad me) and was up with Ellie at 1:30... 3:30... 5... and then Zoe was up at 6... and that was a wrap. Sigh. I've worked out Sat., Sun., Mon., and Tues... I think today I'll take a break :) I find it very hard to exercise when I'm tired. I'm hoping I get a nap this afternoon while the girls are down and maybe I'll have energy to get my vacuuming goal accomplished later in the day.

I'd like to join too, if that's okay.

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
I'm Sarah. DH is Eric. DD is Anna born 1-26-03. She is currently 13.5 months old.

2) How long have you been a SAHM?
Since Anna was born, although the first year was techincally mat. leave. In January, I started caring for a little boy down the street two days a week. His name is Daniel and he's now almost 7 months old.

3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
I worked for the YMCA. I mainly did jobs in the Preschool Dept. (Preschool teacher, program instructor, daycamp coordinator) but I also did some stuff with school aged children.

4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
Anna is top priority. I really need some motivation to get household stuff done. I find I'm more motivated in the evenings when DH is home, but at the same time I'm worn out by then. To be quite honest, I got into the habit of hopping on the computer when Anna was taking 30 min. naps. Now that she's often napping longer, I've got to get out of this habit and get something done.

5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?
I guess I like the accountability of it. I also would like to gain friendship and support from other women who have decided to stay home. It's not always easy (like yesterday, for instance) but I know that it's the best thing for us.

Anne ~ Good luck getting your list done!
Jen ~ What a rough night!! I think that a nap should be your #1 goal.

Okay, I'm going to jump right in with some goals. I'll make 'em easy ones.

1. Take Anna to playgym
2. Put away the laundry in the hallway
3. Pack away old light in Anna's room
4. Fold diapers and put away

Okay, that's the list for today. Ooo... I just got a wiff of Anna... maybe change her poopy diaper should be #1

Welcome to EVERYONE! :bighug: Man! Do we have some dirty houses! Looks like everyone has a housekeeping goal

Sarah.. your list is making me exhausted!!! I miss the days of only having ONE to drag around on errands with me like that. It's definitely not as easy as it used to be... but I guess I'll adjust to it, just like I did with DD#1

~Deborah~
March 10th, 2004, 04:10 PM
1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...) I have two wonderful sons named Joshua (January 15, 2002) and Kyle (October 25, 2003). I have been married to Jay since June 27, 1998

2) How long have you been a SAHM? I have been a SAHM since November 10,2001 when my company went under before I was to start my maternity leave.
3) What did you do before this wonderful new job? I was a flight attendant for a Canadian Charter Airline. When I found out I was pregnant I stopped flying and switched to working in the payroll department.
4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day? My priorities are making sure my boys are happy even if that means the house is a disaster. Jay doesn't care which I love but it drives me crazy that I can get the house tidy and then it looks like I did NOTHING by the time he gets home from work.
5) What do you hope to get out of this journal? Just knowing that I am not alone in the lack of clean house .

Well, I really only managed to get one thing done, but I'm okay with that. I survived my third treatment. They didn't end up doing the blood test today, which was fine. They'll do it on Friday, and we'll know for sure what's going on then. I didn't talk to the flooring lady, but I am going by tomorrow to drop of the check. (She left me a voicemail saying that would work, so that ALMOST counts, right?) And we didn't make it to the library, because we took Katie up for her first ski day instead. It was a gorgeous, sunny day, and she had a blast, so it was well worth it. :) The library can wait for Friday. :)

JenM
March 11th, 2004, 06:06 AM
Anne, I think a ski day is VERY worth blowing everything else off! I would do that in a heartbeat... Those special outings with kids are too rare not to take full benefit of them.

GROAN! Zoe woke up at 5:30 this morning. I am SO tired of her early rise times! Thank goodness I listened to my body and went to bed by 9 last night! DH stayed up to give Ellie a bottle so I could sleep... so I was only up at 1:30 and 4:30 last night... Not TOO bad :)

I got NOTHING done yesterday :( I am so bummed. I don't know what happened?! I swear... b/w nursings and feeding the baby... taking a nap... feeding Zoe... and just daily house maintenance stuff... Shrug. Oh well. I did play a LOT with the kids, which was good. I just never got around to vacuuming like I wanted to.

Sigh. Okay... goals for today:
Exercise and shower this morning... Take Zoe to a gymboree class... nap... Vacuum this afternoon... Bathe Ellie... 'Productive play' this afternoon with girls. The way I feel right now, though (Still VERY tired)... It'll be a miracle if I get any of it done

Its 5:46am and im up. Madison started crying a little so I jumped out of bed. I made her a bottle and me a PB&J sandwich. I had my gallbladder out when I was 17 so if my stomach is empty I get this really awful pain. Madison fell back a sleep so now Im up with a warm bottle and shes sleeping.

Today's goals:
finish laundry
fold and pick up ALL loads of laundry that are done
rearrange bedroom furniture
clean out Madison's closet to send things to goodwill

I managed to get 1 load of laundry done
I did fold and pick up all clothes that were freshly washed
I didnt get to rearrange furniture
I cleaned out my closet, my dresser and DD's closet to send things to goodwill. Who knows what today holds.

Yesterday's list:

1. Take Anna to playgym DONE
2. Put away the laundry in the hallway DONE
3. Pack away old light in Anna's room DONE
4. Fold diapers and put away DONE

Woo Hoo!

I have Daniel today and Anna slept in (before Jen and Harmonie get jealous... sleeping in is 7, and she was up at 5 yesterday, so I feel your pain), which hopefully means one nap and who knows if it will coincide with Daniel's napping, so the list will be short:

1. Call Julie re: pictures
2. Vacuum downstairs
3. pay ezboard subscriptions

That's it.

Carla
March 11th, 2004, 08:31 AM
1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)

My name is Carla and I've been married to Mark since August 2000. We have one son Ethan born May 6th, 2002 and another baby who's due early August.

2) How long have you been a SAHM?

Officially since Ethan was born, but I left work in Feb. 2002 because of troubles I was having.

3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?

I was a Customer Service rep at Zellers, a Canadian retail store.

4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?

Basically getting through the day making sure we are all clothed, fed, sane and clean . My motivation is if I don't do it, it probably won't get done :rotflmao: . I need mega help in cleaning as I just don't feel like spending all my time cleaning. Plus, when I do, it's torn apart as soon as DH or DS come in the room.

5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?

A chance to interact with other SAHM's, more motivation to do the things I have to do, a place to put down what might be mundane to non-SAHM but is a daily part of life for those who are.

My to do list today:

Go grocery shopping
Bring some stuff to the Salvation Army (I currently have about 7 garbage bags and some boxes in the living room which I recently cleaned out. I've just been putting off bringing them)
Clean living room and start bedroom.....again for the tenth time this month
Finish dishes and tidy kitchen

harmonielyn
March 11th, 2004, 08:36 AM
 Madison didnt wake up until 6:30! leaving me up 45 minutes before I needed to be up. Its ok though, shes sleeping again.

Im trying not to think about today's list but I guess I have to!
Today's list
Finish putting things back into Madison's closet.
Call Aunt about the humidifier
find a place to put cradle until it finds its way to SIL's house

Find something to cook for dinner
pay electric bill
clean computer desk
do dishes
make bottles
Added:
put chest in place since DH didnt do it
gather all extra blankets to put in there
oh yeah and take another shot at rearranging the bedroom furniture. Yesterday I only moved the night stand and moved the cradle out of our room

:tearhair:

put chest in place since DH didnt do it - DONE
gather all extra blankets to put in there - DONE
Call Aunt about the humidifier - DONE

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
I'm Jillian and am 24, DH is Ryan and is also 24, DD is Janelle Ashlynn and she is 18 months. I'm 36 weeks pregnant today :jump2: with a boy, Kincaid Chance.
2) How long have you been a SAHM?
Since Janelle was born, I was at home for about a year before that as well though.
3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
College
4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?

Right now my top priorities are Janelle and myself...though much less myself now that I've actually made it to full term (or at least close enough). After that comes laundry and picking up the living room.

Jillian
March 11th, 2004, 09:30 AM
Today I'm having a ton of contractions...so I haven't done much. Janelle woke up at 8:30, but she had nightmares every 30-45 minutes from 4am till 8:30am, so I've been up for awhile. We need to finish sorting through her clothes and packing away the to small ones if these contractions will give me a break...if not, hopefully we can have a baby today instead.

Yay, Jillian!! How exciting that you've made it this far!!

Kris, you've got loads of support from me. As I was crying in bed last night (yet again) the thought of PPD crossed my mind (again) and I had myself talked into finally calling my OB about it...but in the light of day I always chicken out of calling him.

I highly recommend it, Harmonie! Katie loves going for walks (as long as the sun isn't in her eyes) and it's a good way to get away from whatever is bogging you down at home.

Thanks guys, I'm extremely excited, after being hospitalized at 27 and 31 weeks no one thought I'd make it this far. Janelle was born at 36 weeks and she is perfect (well, at least in my opinion), so I'm very proud of myself for getting this far!

I definitely think you should call your OB sarah, I never had ppd after Janelle, but a couple of friends of ours had it and both of them wished they wouldn't of waited so long to finally call!

Kris, I really hope you start feeling better to, call your doctor, just like I told Sarah!

I got 1 of the 4 baskets of Janelle's clothes sorted through...I wish she would grow at a normal rate (right now she is at the 40th percentile for height and not even close to being on the charts for weight (about -10th to -15th%), so pants just don't fit at all...and it's just weird.) so sorting clothes didn't also mean trying a zillion outfits on her, she doesn't especially enjoy putting on fashion shows.

:bighug: Im sorry that you are feeling down! Dont feel bad about seeing your Dr. Its his/her job to take care of you and make you feel better!

Lately I've been trying to go for walks. Im not used to having that in my schedule so im trying to go 2 times a week. Plus it gives Madison some outside time. Last week a cool front came through though so we didnt get to walk. But today we did!

List for Thursday:
1. Call Julie re: pictures DONE
2. Vacuum downstairs Deferred until the weekend.
3. pay ezboard subscriptions DONE

Okay, vacuuming was just a stupid one to put on the list at all. I had both babes, they napped at different times, and there was no way that I was ever getting all the toys off the floor so that I could vacuum. I also had a headache for the better part of the day, and Anna went to bed early, and the vacuum wakes her up, so I'm out of time now.

List for Friday:
1. Order "leash" for Anna... oops, I meant to say "toddler harness"
2. Order Moby Wrap
3. Finalize price list
4. Wash fleece for diaper liners
5. pack up clothes for donation
6. pack away Anna's clothes that are too small
7. pack away Sam's clothes in Anna's closet

Okay, that should be enough for one day :)

Okay, my list for today is short:
1. Sign the paperwork and pay the flooring lady for the new house. DONE
2. Go to Target and buy bedding for Full-size bed. DONE
3. Mail some packages. Not done
4. Find the missing wet bag... Not done

I really wound up overdoing it today. :( We got the options stuff all taken care of (MIL came along to help with Katie, and to see what all we picked!) and then MIL, Katie and I went to Target. We were there for SO long. We ended up having lunch there, and I got a really bad case of the shakes. By the time we left, I was extremely nauseaous, and I wound up having to have MIL drive me home and take my car back to her house. She's going to watch Katie tomorrow while I get my blood drawn, so she'll just drive back in the morning and pick me up, and take me to that. But... ugh. We got home, and Katie and I took a nap for about 1.5 hours, and I'm STILL really feeling sick. I have that *wanting to :puke: * feeling, but I know I'm not actually going to do it.

However, I do feel good about getting the options stuff taken care of, and I'm happy with the sheets we bought at Target, so at least the day wasn't a total waste!

If it's easier to go to your regular GP and talk about PPD with him or her, do that instead. It doesn't have to be your OB, unless you want it to be. I ended up talking (initially) with the nurse practitioner at my GP's office. I swear... it was one of the best things I EVER did for myself. It was over a year after Katie was born, because I procrastinated THAT long about doing it. And honestly... if you really think about it, I robbed Katie of having a mommy who wasn't dealing with PPD for over a year of her life. I'm not trying to make you feel guilty AT ALL, but if you think it would help, I'd HIGHLY recommend talking to your doctor about PPD.

What they'll do is, they'll have you fill out a questionnaire, where you evaluate certain statements.
For example, it will say:
I enjoy being around attractive people of the opposite sex. (I think this question sticks with me because it is so bizarre!)
And you'll evaluate the truth of that statement by circling one of the following:
Most or all of the time; A lot of the time; Some of the Time; Little to none of the time.

There's a standard list of questions, and your answers get scored according to a chart, and they tell you where you fall in the spectrum of anxiety and/or depression. And from there, you can talk about meds, or counseling, or both. And if you decide to decline meds and counseling, that's fine, too.

Anyway, I wound up going on Celexa in August, and I was seriously a new person after starting it. It has made such a difference for me, and if you think it might help you at ALL, I highly recommend going in to see your doctor about it. The hardest part is making that appointment. It took me over a year to do, but it was so worth it once I did it. :bighug:

My to do list today:

Go grocery shopping Done

Bring some stuff to the Salvation Army: I didn't do this as we were in a rush doing the groceries and the weather was calling for freezing rain

Clean living room and start bedroom: Done

Finish dishes and tidy kitchenDone (for the most part  )

I also got some laundry done (including some fabric pre-washing, which I almost never do), diapers sorted/put away and I got the main floors done. I got so much done today there shouldn't be too much to do tommorow

Kris, I hear you on the PPD. I made the mistake of going to a really crappy counsellor when I had it after Ethan (I was referred to her and it's a long story, but did way more harm than good). I've struggled with depression all my life, right now it's mostly situational and we can't afford for me to go on meds. Hopefully you can find the help you're looking for, but here's a :hug1: for you!

I went on Zoloft and it has taken the edge off I guess but not completely. I don't have health insurance anymore so once I am done with this bottle I am done with the meds. Until I can afford it again.

Sorry I'm very late!

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
I'm Celeste, married to Bill. Kalynn is 19 months old.

2) How long have you been a SAHM?
I have been a SAHM since last June.

3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
I was a Teacher's Assistant for Special Ed. I worked with the Severe and Profound. It was very challenging, but I loved it!

4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
I am a full time student, so getting homework done, I need motivation to clean!! I get so frustrated that I can only keep the house clean for, oh, an hour. And when Kalynn's awake, for about 10 minutes!

5) What do you hope to get out of this journal? Tips from other SAHM's, adult interaction

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...) James, 34; Anne, 31; Caroline, approaching 2 1/2.
2) How long have you been a SAHM? Since Day 1 - I guess technically since March 2002 when I told them I wasn't coming back to work.
3) What did you do before this wonderful new job? a legal secretary specializing in labor, employment and harassment law.
4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day? I think the most help I need is in getting things done around the house - I tend to take too much time "just checking the computer for a sec" and three hours later I haven't emptied the dishwasher!
5) What do you hope to get out of this journal? Hanging out with people who can appreciate the fact that even if we don't go OUT to work every day, it's still not a day of eating bonbons and sleeping until noon.

Anne (Ttowne):.. Your comment about how much time just checking the computer for a sec adds up to 3 hours later! LOL. TOOO funny!

Anne (AahRee):.. let us know how the results come back

Sarah and Lexie... nothing like having company to put the ants in your pants for cleaning the house, huh? Sometimes I think we should invite over company every weekend just to get me motivated

Sarah... I'd love to see the pics you had taken!

Harmonie... a "lost" day every now and then isn't a bad thing. Especially when you do a weeks worth of stuff in ONE day!

I hope you girls do follow up with your Dr.s about the PPD... it is NOT something to be trifled with. Your mental health is imperative for you AND for your babies.

As for me  Haven't been by here for two days... but that's because I've been getting SO much done :)

My house is CLEAN... and I do mean CLEAN with a capital 'C'... Woo hoo! I got so much done the past two days... Cleaned all the clutter stuff up and found a home for everything... dusted.. vacuumed... mopped... got some laundry done... PLUS I got out with Zoe both days to classes and to play outside... Got lots of Ellie cuddle time in... working on getting that baby to really LAUGH for me still... got my exercise on the treadmill in both days and did pretty good organizing dinner (though we ordered take out sushi tonight.. heh)... So I feel GOOD.

My only goal for this weekend is to exercise and spend time with the girls... Since my house is clean I get to take a break :) Though I do think I want to make a weekly list to make it easier to keep up the housework... I'm thinking:
Mondays'... laundry day... change sheets on beds and vacuum bedrooms
Tuesdays... bathroom days
Wednesdays... Vacuum downstairs and dust
Thursdays... clean kitchen day
Fridays... do anything that I DIDN'T get done during the week.

Does anyone else have a "schedule" sort of thing like that? I'm wondering if that will help me?

I hope everyone has a FABULOUS weekend!

harmonielyn
March 12th, 2004, 10:44 PM
I dont have any kind of schedule. I just do what needs to be done. If something doesnt need to be cleaned just yet I surely am not doing it! My house is a total wreck now, its my fault though. It stayed clean all day today but about 2 hours ago I dragged my queen size matress out from our room to the middle of the living room. I guess I just felt like having one of those nights.

Ethan just kept me so busy yesterday that it was hard to get done. When he finally had a nap, I was too tired to do much. I have really bad pregnancy fatigue and everything wears me out. I can't wait until it's nice enough to get outside as I think I have a bit of the winter blues.

My list is short today. I just want to get the house good and clean for Sunday since I don't do any cleaning that day (it's our Sabbath).

Before this, I was a Web Manager for an international Consumer Electronics company.

4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?

Thanks for the good thoughts yesterday. The nurse who gave me my test results said that they were good, but in my opinion, they were the worst possible results.

I did this treatment a couple of weeks ago, and did only one dose. My sed rate (the thing they're trying to get down) was 38 before the first treatment, and went down to 26 after it, which is a drop of 12. So, they decided to do a full series of three treatments. Right before the first of the three treatments, my sed rate was 35. After the three treatments, it was down to 23 (which was the result I was waiting on yesterday). So, a difference of 12 again... only, this time, they used three times the medicine to get the exact same result. And my sed rate STILL isn't in the normal range (which is 0-20). So, I really don't get how that is supposed to be good news! Anyway, I now have to go BACK to get another blood test next Wednesday, and see if my sed rate has gone down further, stayed the same, or started to go back up. So, basically... my test results came back as a gigantic MAYBE, and what I really wanted was a yes or no. :(

So, anyway... other than getting my test results, I didn't get anything done. And my list for today is really just to mail a couple of packages and then attempt to relax. The house is just going to have to stay messy for a few more days!

Anne, let your house be messy! You deserve it. It's too bad they couldn't get your sed rate lower :(

My house is messy and I keep telling myself I deserve it  . I decided to go to mom's for the day because I'm so tired of being in the house and it's nice to have someone else cook supper and other people to entertain Ethan. I've been having a lot of cramping so I should be taking it easy anyway. I have to prepare two lessons for church tommorow (one is just in case as I teach a Young Women's class if any show up, and I have to be prepared just in case. Otherwise I'm teaching the women. I like teaching the girls better).

I'll probably tidy up a bit before going to bed as it's not that bad since we weren't home all day. Oh, DH and I did something we've been wanting to do for ages....we took the frame off the bed and just put the mattress and box spring on the floor with our old futon mattress on top. It matches the level of the crib next to it and it is way more comfy. Plus the frame was old and loose, which was ruining the box spring. I also managed to clean off the crib, so that's something from yesterday I did :) . I'm going to see if I can talk DH into doing the dishes.

Carla, I'm glad you're taking it easy (well, relatively easy!) today--I can't believe you do as much as you do...and you're PG *and* you have a toddler! Wow!

Carla
March 13th, 2004, 08:05 PM
Well, someone has to do it :) . The fatigue isn't as bad as first tri, but it's just so tiring chasing a busy toddler around all day and trying to take care of everything around the house. I try not to feel bad when things slip, but I see other mothers with more on their plate with spotless houses so it's hard not to feel a little guilty. It's hard not to compare myself to other moms sometimes.

Every time I see mom, she asks what I'm going to do with two. Probably what every other mother with two does, manage ;)

JenM
March 13th, 2004, 08:26 PM
Ah yes! The days of just managing are here fore me now.. and sometimes I really FEEL it. Totally OFF topic.. but Ellie has been SOOOO fussy today :( There are seriously days when I feel like I spend 90% of my time just holding Ellie and the rest of the time either feeling guilty about what I'm not getting done or recouperating from the emotions of feeling exhausted from dealing with a crying baby. Today wasn't too bad except she did a LOT of crying all morning.. .then she finally had a huge pooplosion in the afternoon and she seemed to settle a lot after that.. for the afternoon.. then she ended up having a tough evening. Sigh. I'll be glad when the infant phase is over.

Anne, as everyone else said, I'm sorry the results weren't definitive for you. I sure hope they come back nice and low on Wednesday.

Sarah, what IS shredding anyway? I've been wondering that.

I didn't get anything useful done today beyond clipping coupons and running the dishwasher because we spent a good part of the day traveling to a mall about 70 miles away to see ELMO! So we saw Elmo, mosied around the mall, had a nice lunch, and then came home. However, tonight I will be productive - for myself! - because I'm going to the late-night sale at Kohls and treating myself to some spring clothes.

I'm kinda late joining in, but I'm here too!

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
I'm Jill, 28, DH is Chuck, 30, and our daughter is Emily - 9 months.
2) How long have you been a SAHM?
Since February 2003.
3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
I was a mortgage underwriter.
4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
Survival is my main priority! Actually my main priority has been making sure Emily is getting enough daytime sleep, trying to stick to a general routine since that's what she thrives on, and just letting her have lots of fun exploring the world around her!
5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?
Just chatting with all the other SAHM's out there!

This is what we have right now...we did it so it would match the level of the crib (which I think Janelle *might* sleep in maybe once a month...dh however ends up in there one or two times a week), but it turned out to be much more comfy!

Carla
March 14th, 2004, 05:59 PM
Ours weren't level and sometimes Ethan would get stuck in the crack (I've been worried about the baby and that space. Ethan was older and quite mobile when we moved the crib next to the bed). Now it's just one big sleeping area, which is nice. I think I spent half the night in the crib and didn't even mind, lol! Ethan almost never slept on or in the crib but I'm hoping the baby will so we'll all fit  . Ethan sometimes sleeps in his own bed, but rarely for the full night.

Well, I hardly did a thing at home today. I washed some diapers this morning (they're still sitting in the rinse though so I can finish them tommorow) but other than that, not much. Mondays are good cleaning days though. I'll have to come up with a list because I want to be more organized.

DH has been hogging the computer lately in the evenings, and I am trying my hardest not to get on it as often during the day....

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
I'm Mandy (27), DH is Jeremy (32), and Aiden (8 months).

2) How long have you been a SAHM?
Since the day Aiden was born!

3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
I was a SAHW.... a real far jump, wasn't it? :rotflmao:

4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?

My number one priority is back preservation. I herniated a disc during Aiden's delivery, and it happens to be the absolute last disc in my lumbar spine above the tailbone. It also is pinching my sciatic nerve and shoots pain down my leg every now and then. It's so bad that I can't walk. Fortunately, I have been able to gain relief through conservative treatment.

My second priority is Aiden. I don't like that I'm putting my back first, but honestly, I put him first for many months, and now he's more mobile on his own. I also suffered for about 5 months before I finally had ANY type of pain relief with the back pain.

My third priority is the rest of me....
After that, it's DH, then the dog, then the house.

My biggest problem is over-exerting my back. I also need to lose some weight, eat healthier, and I am NOT good at this at all. I have had horrible eating habits and all sorts of issues in the past.
Oddly enough, I do not have any problems keeping the housework up, so you can all hate me there. I am very anal and extremely routine. I did have a cleaning company come a few weeks ago and they did a thorough scrub down. It has been easy staying on top of things now. I'd REALLY like to get Aiden into more activities, as I feel he's not getting challenged enough. Basically, it's my own procrastination that holds me back from some things.
Like Anne, I get on the computer to "just check my email real quick" and the next thing I know, I've wasted a day staring at the screen. So, I've *really* been trying to just limit computer usage to the evenings, after Aiden goes to bed. But, DH is now hogging the computer at night. Guess I can't complain too much... I am getting more accomplished.

5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?
To learn more about the rest of you.... to hold myself MORE accountable for my own priorities. I signed up for flylady.com a few weeks ago, and I have found if I don't have anyone to "talk" with about it, I'm more likely to just let things slide.

Okay gals, I'm facing a serious SAH dilemma and it's frustrating me to the limits and DH is no help, so I have to put it out there for someone to hear. Caroline is desperately attached to me. Don't get me wrong, most kids prefer their mother to their father, at least in these early years, but I think it's reaching dangerous proportions now. For instance, I recently made an appointment to get a haircut while DH took Caroline shopping for a new carseat. Lo and behold, halfway through my haircut the door opens up with a shrieking toddler and there is James, who tells me that she was screaming so badly for Mommy throughout the stores that he was afraid to stay there before someone thought he was hurting her. Attachment is one thing, and stranger anxiety is one thing, but when Caroline can't even handle going out with her FATHER, I think we're reaching dangerous proportions. I can count on one hand the number of times James and I have been out alone in two years, because he refuses to use a babysitter that isn't family (considering that his family is in NY and my parents live 80 miles away, you see the inherent problem in that)

Before anyone suggest that she need socialization, we have done all sorts of stuff since she was a little baby. We do Gymboree every week, storytime every week, playtime with her little friends, the whole shebang. But it's the day to day existence that I can't even cook dinner alone because she refuses to just stay with my husband that is making me INSANE.

So, I don't know what I want any of you to say. :dunno: I don't know if there are suggestions to be made, or ideas, or the fact that my husband is paranoid, or I just have to gut it out until she goes to kindergarten. I just needed to get it out before DH and I have a drag-out fight this evening! (after the Sopranos, of course, because that is soooo important. )

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
I'm Cortney, married to Josh, Morgan is dd (born 11 Dec. 2001)

2) How long have you been a SAHM? I was one for 9 months right after Morgan was born, then went back to school for a year (including the summer) and this fall I took back off again!!!

3) What did you do before this wonderful new job? Before the FIRST time I worked as an estimator in construction and before this current time I went to school full time.

4) What are your priorities for each day? Having fun with Morgan, keeping the house clean, cooking dinner.

Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day? Laundry- ick!!! (and I *HATE* to mop the floors)

5) What do you hope to get out of this journal? Support and encouragement.

A few things...what does your husband have against any babysitter that's not family? How do you feel about other babysitters? I DEFINITELY think you need to get out away from her- you can do all the things you want WITH her, but it's really not going to help when it comes time for you to leave. PLUS she need that independence right now and it will never happen if you don't let her gain it.

But definitely something- even if it's just one day a week preschool or something.

Also- why did James bring her to you when you were getting your haircut? I'm really not trying to step on your toes, but I'm sure she wasn't hurt or anything, just missing you and for her to cry and then get you keeps the situation going.

AahRee
March 14th, 2004, 10:03 PM
Anne, I agree with Cortney. It's hard on Caroline because she's never had to be away from you. I think a day a week of preschool (or even a half day) would do wonders for your situation. Of course, it's totally none of my business, and you have to do what you and James are comfortable with. But I don't think you should have to have Caroline chained to your ankles until she starts Kindergarten... :bighug:

Well, I haven't gotten a whole lot done this weekend at all. On Thursday afternoon, I started getting nauseaous (and grinding my teeth...), and I thought it was nerves about my test results. When it persisted on Friday, I thought it was nerves about having to wait until this coming Wednesday to see if my sed rate goes back up. But Friday night, the nausea turned into full-fledged stomach cramps and...other stuff... and last night was more of the same, only worse. It was so bad that we ended up calling the on-call doctor, and almost went to the E.R. :( Fortunately, the on-call doctor said that it was probably a side-effect of the steroids (which I feel like a major idiot for not thinking of myself...) and that I needed to start chewing Tums like they were candy. I ate about 5 Tums last night, and drank a bunch of water, and felt a little better this morning. However, I was not going to chance going to church and having to make a run to the bathroom. :owow: So, Phil and Katie went by themselves and I stayed home. I did get some Tagamet and took a double dose (per the on-call doctor's instructions) and I'm feeling a LOT better now. But I managed to get exactly NOTHING done all weekend. Well, that's not true. I read a good book (Kate White's A Body To Die For) and I drove past our new house today and saw that they've finally painted it. :) But my DH has done all the cooking, cleaning, packing, etc. all weekend. :(

My list for tomorrow has only ONE really important item on it:
1. Call the title company and straighten out our title! (Apparantly, they have a loan against our title that we paid off in our refinance last summer. :tearhair: )

Anything else I get done will just be a bonus! :)

UGH! Maybe the best place to start is to get Caroline to just be comfortable alone with Daddy for a while. Maybe if your DH takes her to the park when the weather starts to get nicer... She'd hopefully be happy enough b/c there would be so many things to do. If he can do this with her... twice a week to start... If she'll get comfortable with that.... Then you can start thinking of other things. We actually found a nanny who is a mom herself.. to a special needs child... She is WONDERFUL! I wonder if your DH is uncomfortable leaving her with someone b/c he thinks of a babysitter as a "kid"? If you found an ADULT who is also a parent... maybe that would help? And have her come in just once a week for a few hours... You could just go grocery shopping. This just to help Caroline start to ease up a little with her attachment to you? You could even just have the person come play with her in the beginning with you still IN the house... just not right in the room to help her? Babysteps... you know? Of course, you have to get your DH on board first, I suppose.

Anne... just want to give you a :bighug: I'm glad you are feeling better, at least :)

:bighug: Anne. I'm sorry you aren't feeling well.

Madelynn was a lot like Caroline for awhile! What helped her be more relaxed around DH was when I took a night class and they were home alone together for a few hours at a time. She started daycare at the same time though, so that could have made a difference too. But, from reading what you posted it sounds like your DH was out with her. Any chance he could just stay home alone with her sometimes? That might help. :crossfing

Anne, I don't have any advise that's better than what's given, just a few :hug99:'s . Ethan's super attached too but he'll tolerate a few people (dad and grandparents, who fortunately live close). That must be really hard on you.

Today, I just want to clean the wreckage from the weekend  . It's not too bad actually, mostly laundry, dishes, tidying, normal everyday things.

We're going out for supper with my family as it's my Father's birthday. I'm also going to make him a gift, probably a t-shirt with either his buisness logo or of Ethan that says "Grampy's Boy". I haven't decided yet.

I also have some booties I started making yesterday that I want to finish. I want to have a matching outfit for the baby coming home, so I'm making booties, bib, hat and possibly a little gown to match the adorable diaper I made  . I'm so hoping it's a girl, but yellow isn't too bad for a boy, right ;)

Anne ~ Anna is quite attatched to me as well, but she doesn't have the same problem with DH. She has a problem with everyone else, though. Then again, she started 'making strange' at 8 weeks old! One thing that DH does with Anna is "Daddy-daughter time" where they might go to a hardware store on Sat. morning, or just play together while I have a bit of alone time. Maybe if they have a special time together it would help. :dunno: Eric also bathes her 99% of the time, so they have that time for just the two of them too. I hope that things improve soon. It must be hard on everyone!

Hahahahaha - I win this contest. I had a dr. appointment on 12/6, where he told me I was 2cm, 80%. But he said I could go like that for weeks. However, because I had severe swelling in my feet and legs, he gave me a note to get out of work until my due date (12/28). I went in to work, turned in my note, got some things from my desk, and went home. Caroline was born at 8:04 the next morning!

I'm late too, but I wanted to join in.

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
My name is Michele (27) DH is Scott (28 on Thursday) and Jackson is 4.5 months

2) How long have you been a SAHM?
Since the day Jackson was born. He was 5 weeks early, so I went into work on Friday (10/24/03), and decided I needed to get all the stuff done that I had been putting off, just in case the baby was early. I went home that night, went out to dinner with a friend, went to bed and woke up at 6am on Saturday (10/25/03) b/c my water broke. Jackson was born at 1:58pm that day...

3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
I was an assistant project manager at an architecture firm. I am not an architect, so I handled all the non-design aspects of a job, contracts, budgets, invoicing etc. Not very exciting!

4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
My priorities are Jackson, the housework and mayself (meaning eating better and exercising. I have been eating junk and sitting on my butt since October). I too tend to hop on the computer for just a second and end up being on for an hour. We are in the process of selling our condo, so I have to keep it clean for showings. I also feel that Jackson needs more playtime, but I don't know exactly how to play with him. He has a very short attention span at the moment.

5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?
Support, accountability, to talk to people who know what it is like to SAH, and to get to know people better.

Tommorow's list:
Put away clothes
Finish dishes
Tidy bedrooms
Try packing up more junk to give away!!
Ultrasound at 2:20

Again, I don't care if I get much done. We might be going to the IL's for supper, so between that, going to the hospital and any other things that may pop up, I might not be home much. Dh just found a moldy strawberry in Ethan's room, so I guess I should check his room out tommorow for other treasures :tongue2:

I know it's foolish and pathetic that I feel the need to impress these people.... but hey, it motivates me.

I also have already completed most of my "reminder list". I still need to call insurance and get info about dentists..... ugh. And I really can't put that one off... I have braces and I have to keep my teeth cleaned. :order:

Hope everyone has a great day! We are also having a snow day, so any errands that were to be run I've cancelled. Not for fear of the snow... I don't mind driving in it, it's just too much a hassle getting Aiden ready, and all that crap!

I'm so proud of my productivity today! During Emily's morning nap I took a shower, got dressed, and then folded and put away two loads of laundry. While she was in her highchair eating her veggie chunks, I put away the clean dishes and loaded the dishwasher with the dirty dishes. I woke up and realized that the house was pretty much under control. I don't feel like cleaning the bedroom, but later, I'll probably put some stuff away. I got a load of cloth diapers today, so those were my laundry priority :D . I didn't have enough for a load of anything else anyway for a change. MIL is taking Ethan for the afternoon tommorow, so I'll probably get some stuff done then.

Life is good. I'm so impressed by how well and how much everyone is getting done here!

Goal for tomorrow:

We are mostly snowed in.. so I most likely won't be going anywhere... so I'll plan to:
- exercise
- do an art project with Zoe
- bathe Ellie
- organize Zoe's books into the living room
- finish the laundry I started on Monday

I signed up too (about a week or so ago). What I did was create a "rule" so anything coming in from them goes straight to a seperate folder. Some I read and some I delete right away.

Carla, it looks like they did a good job in taking those pictures of making sure that you can't tell. :( I have absolutely no clue, based on those pictures. Is that a liability thing? They're afraid you'll sue if they turn out to be wrong? :dunno:

I didn't get a single thing on my list done today. However, Katie is going to MIL's tomorrow at 3p.m., and staying the night, so I should be able to get a bit more done tomorrow, and Thursday morning.

Eventhough I didn't get anything on my list done, I *did* watch Sesame Street with Katie, and we took the scenic route home from the bookstore, which means driving past the *horsies*, *moo cows* and *butt-lo* (buffalo). And hey, that's way more important than paperwork and packages, right? ;)

Ooops. I totally forgot a list for tomorrow. Okay, it's going to have to be everything on my list from today, PLUS getting my blood drawn tomorrow morning. :dead: Oh, and making brownies for Bible study tomorrow night. (BTW... does this sound yummy, or gross? I have some black raspberry syrup I was thinking of drizzling over the brownies... )

Today's To-Do List: (it's pretty lame today)

*Go to the MOMs club Erin G'brough today
*check on the cable bill that came yesterday that said it was overdue
*do some laundry
*change the sheets on the beds
*finish sewing the summer pjs sitting on my kitchen counter for Morgan
*think of something to make for dinner

I'm assuming so, but I'm sure most people would sign a waiver stating they knew they weren't 100%. I mean, is anything in life? BTW, those brownies sound delish!

We got snowed on again, so I'll probably just be home again all day. I really, really hate snow. Pretty bad since I live in Canada and get a lot of it  . I think MIL is still taking Ethan for the afternoon, so I'll tackle the bedrooms then.

My List:
*Bedroom
*Finish diapers and wash another load
*Get some clothes from basement put away
*Dishes
*Figure out some green food for supper. (We're having a pot roast so maybe green salad, green beans and "green" mashed potato? Oh, and green jello for dessert with green tinted whipped cream  ) ok, that one was easy!!

I was completely useless yesterday... well, other than playing with Anna all day, but I was useless during her nap. I didn't have a list, and nothing got done :blue: So, today, a list :) I have Daniel today, so I'll work away on it the best I can.

1. fold and put away diapers
2. wash Anna's towels, fold and put away
3. cut liners for diapers
4. dishes!!!!!

Daniel's here. That list will have to do :)

I'm really late as well!

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
My name is Jenn, and I have two daughters: Rory is 2 and Teagan is 11 months.
2) How long have you been a SAHM?
Almost 2.5 years, I guess...since October 26, 2001.
3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
I worked for our Federal Government, dealing with disability pensions.
4) What are your priorities for each day?
My girls, myself, my Dh and the house.
Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
Definetly the house stuff! I could 'forget' about that stuff all day!
5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?
Some accountability for me, some new friends and maybe some ideas on what to do with our days (not that they're boring, just some different stuff!)

~Jenn

I thought I'd quickly post my list for tomorrow...we're going out in the afternoon for the rest of the day, so it's not going to be a terribly productive list, but, well...

1) Do the load of laundry that's ready to be done...wash, dry, fold AND put away!
2) Get the girls and I ready to leave for when Dh has to leave so that we can drive in together, without forgetting anything!
3) Have a good, enjoyable day out (I've been finding that hard lately with a 2 year old! )!

I wish I had found this earlier...I was SO productive today, it almost scared me!

I'm not always good at checking in, so doubt I'll do it everyday, but I hope to at least post a list a couple of times a week, because I need the accoutability...it helps me SO much!

Well... I got three out of five things done... I exercised... bathed Ellie and did THREE art projects with Zoe :) Somehow, organizing the books and finishing the laundry that I started on MONDAY got moved to tomorrow  How is it it takes me ALL week sometimes just to get laundry done? Sigh. Oh well. I am getting lots of other things done around the house that I'm not actually making lists for... so that's good at least :)

Tomorrow... hmmm... Dare I say I'll finish the laundry again? And the books get moved there as well. I'll need to exercise again... And... lets see... I think that's all I'll put down and we'll see if I get that stuff done.

I did pretty good! We didn't bring all our stuff to the salvation army, about 7 garbage bags. I've been getting rid of a lot of stuff. We live in so much clutter and I'm tired of it!!! I'm going to finish tidying up when Ethan goes to bed, if he ever does (it's 11:30pm and he's still wired :tearhair: ).

I'm not really planning anything for tommorow since we're going away, same for Saturday. I'm just going to try and leave the house semi-clean.

Lexie, now that we have a big screen I don't think we could ever go back to a regular size!

Cortney... so you go to the MOMs groups??? How IS that? There is a group relatively close to me... but I'm not sure I could actually ADD MORE commitments to my schedule unless it was really worth it.

Well.... I did NOT get my laundry or those books done. Looking back on the day... I don't know WHAT I got accomplished! Not much, that's for sure. I did exercise and make dinner  AND took my nap. I almost feel guilty about napping these days... But I sort of figure until Ellie is sleeping through the night, it's my right :) Zoe had me up by 5:30 this morning... Groan. I am SUPPOSED to go see a client today... (I've decided to take on 3 clients again... all on Friday mornings... we'll see how that goes)... BUT.... we are supposed to have snow again this morning and schools around here are already closing. SO, I may not have a baby sitter to run out and do it. We'll see what happens with that now.

Our big screen was so old! The color was off and it was just old! That is all I can say. The new set up looks so much better! My DH even likes it! I didn't think he would because it is a smaller TV, his exact words were "This looks fresh!" He went back to the 80's I think.:supergrin I am not soing anything today.... Watching my soaps and keeping the house picked up! I haven't watched AMC in a week!

I copied your idea and did the same thing. I really like some of her ideas, but some aren't for me. I can't stand wearing shoes at home, so I definitely don't follow that one. I have started a bedtime routine, and a morning routine I like that. Especially the morning routine. For a while I was going back to bed after DH left for work, now I get up and unload the dishwasher, exercise, shower, check emails, and eat breakfast. It gives me more "me" time and makes me feel like less of a slug...

This is what I did! I started to REALLY commit myself to exercising as my morning routine. In fact, I exercise in my pajama pants and a cami top. I will NOT brush my teeth or get dressed until I have done my exercises! (Yeah, god forbid someone appears at the door before I'm ready for them. :rotflmao: )

And I am proud that I have STUCK with my two goals I made for myself this week
1) To not eat in the evenings after dinner (A HUGE downfall)
and
2) To exercise every day during the week, atleast. :woo:

I cleaned on Wednesday, and just picked up more stuff yesterday. Aside from my coffee table being a mess, I am completely on top of everything this week! :rahrah: I try to do all I need to during the week so we can lounge around and have fun during the weekend.
In fact, I think I'm going to take DS out and we'll go window shopping (one of my most favorite pasttimes...) It's not a bad day, kind of chilly, but I'm going to take advantage of some of this sunshine!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Ok.....I finally get a chance to "check in". Again, I posted all this yesterday but lost it all! Sorry I came here so late girls, I'm here on and off. Oh, and I also wanted to be sure I read every post in here, too. :)

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
My name is Dawn (will be 31 in April), DH is James (31), 1 daughter Alexia Marie (2 yr. old in 5 days :tear: )

2) How long have you been a SAHM?
1 month before Alexia was born so a little over 2 yrs.

3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
I was an Exec. Asst. for the nation's largest waste industry company.

4) What are your priorities for each day?
Alexia, Dh, the house

Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
~I definately must put more of an effort in doing things for myself more. Even if it means taking out the time in sitting down, doing nothing and just reading a magazine! I sometimes put my own needs last, and I know that's not good. I just always put DH and Alexia before me.
~I also need more motivation to stop procrastinating with anything that has to be done concerning paper (like filing,), and phonecalls. I'm a real bad procrastinator when it comes to those things...and it usually winds up that it builds up which gives me more to do. Then when that happens, I start feeling too overwhelmed and i don't do any of it! Not good!
5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?
To hang with my fellow SAHM friends and to meet new ones. :) Oh, and for adult interaction too.

Just a couple things I wanted to add. .....

I wanted to give a :bighug: to Ann (AahRee) and also to Anne (TtownAnne). Anne: I also agree with Hilary....maybe try having DH watch her at the house first several times. It will be an easier environment to start getting use to "just her and Daddy" time. :)

Jen ~ Yes.....I do have a scedule sort of. About 2 mos. ago I decided to have a "better" schedule for my days (if anyone else is also interested in reading what I've recently started doing for myself....go ahead. :) ). I got myself a steno notebook and this is where I write and keep track of things I have to do (i actually have it broken down: places to go, things to do, phone calls/emails to make). This helped me look at things 'straight on' & it made it easier for me to see what has to be done vs. what I already done. However, I don't keep a DAILY list....that list is weekly. I do that because there are days that I just don't feel like doing NADA and maybe I"m feeling in a funk....so if I did have a daily to-do list I didn't want to be disappointed in myself if it didn't get done that day. Also, because I'm a huge procrastinator, I basically give myself the right to do the laundry, let's say, on Thurs, instead of Wed. I tried doing the "Tues=vaccuming, Wed = clean bathroom, etc., but I found that I couldn't stick with a particular project on a particular day, as things happen or whatever. It use to be one big project per day along with other basic chores, but now I just include at least 5 big projects (house-work wise) and I makes sure it gets done sometime that week. Whatever I decide to do first is on me (i usually look at my list in the evening or that morn. to sort of "plan" which things I want to definately take care of that day. Whenever I happen to think of something else to do, I always add it right in. This ensures that nothing is ever forgotten about). Oh, and part of my "new founded schedule" also consisted of me spending less time on here (the computer in general). So what I decided to do was to have weekly breaks from UB. You'll see me on and off here throughout the day some days, and others I'll be MIA for a couple days or even a week at a time. I try my best to take one week on, one week off, etc. This has worked for me tremendously....and I have gotten tons of things done, that otherwise I would not have. It was hard in the beginning ("withdrawels" ), but I remained focused and I knew that I needed to give myself "breaks" from the computer; because well, I felt I was neglecting some things around the house and that also it could be more time spent with myself in taking care of me & doing whatever.

I'm not gonna post a to-do list for today, because DH is home and it's pretty much a "lazy day'. I'm just doing my basic everyday things that I do (wash dishes, keep kitchen clean, sweep floors, straight things up on downstairs level so that it at least looks presentable to the eye). And that's it!

Oh, but starting next week I have alot of things that have been on the list for a while now that I MUST take care of (mostly things having to do with PAPER & PHONECALLS, how'd ya guess?! ). I will try my best to post a daily list on here starting next week.

Have a wonderful week, everyone! :wavey: And I'm glad to be here! :)

Oooo, are you going to show us??!! I'd love to see what you're working on... I don't have the patience to sit down and do embroidery. :( Will you be making the rest of her gown too? When will her baptism be? See, I'm just incredibly nosey....

 Mandy!

I'm doing the embroidery on the bodice of her gown right now--it has to be done before my mom can sew the bodice into the rest of the gown. Mom is making the gown itself and doing the smocking...I'm doing the embroidery. It's also supposed to have embroidery on the sleeves and along the hem, but I'm not sure Mom is going to finish sewing the gown in time for me to do all of that embroidery--I'm very slow with this embroidery.

The gown and petticoat are made out of Swiss Batiste with lace inserted at the hem. It's going to be gorgeous...I hope! Mom also is going to try to incorporate some of the fabric from my wedding dress--I removed the butt bow before I wore my dress, so she'll use that fabric.

Oh, and the baptism is the Sunday after Easter--April 18th.

Here is what the dress will look like...

March 19th, 2004, 10:34 PM
That is a beautiful dress!

Okay... I got very little done today again :( Some days Ellie is just super fussy and it's hard to put her down. What I DID do: got the rest of the laundry clean and folded... just not put away... Gave Ellie a bath... Took Zoe to her music together class... did some finger painting with Zoe... That's about it. Didn't get to exercise (or even shower yet today ... ick, I know, off to TRY to do that in a minute)...

Dawn, I like the idea about the steno pad to keep a running list of things. I do that now with dinners... I like to look over a week at a time and make sure I cook two fish meals, one chicken, one pork, one pasta, one beef... you get the picture. Now I just need to start one for everything else :)

I'm in East Brunswick.. Middlesex county. I guess we're about an hour away from each other.
I grew up in East Brunswick. :)

I'm new here and a little late jumping in, but here goes...

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
I'm Rachel (33), DH is Steve (33), and DD is Samantha Marie (5 1/2 months).

2) How long have you been a SAHM?
I stopped working when I was almost 20 weeks PG, and haven't been back since

3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
I was a professor in the Communication Department of a 4 year University.

4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
My priorities are to make sure that Sam is happy, healthy, and having fun! Oh yeah, and taking care of basic house stuff (which is definitely where I need motivation, especially when it's time to clean the bathrooms).

5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?
I hope to meet some new people and give/receive some of the support I've come to realize SAHM's really need!

My List:
Laundry (of course  )
Put away some of the stuff we bought
Tidy kitchen and living room

Well, I wanted to run out today and do some errands, but Lexie is a little sick. :blue: Besides that, it's real cold out today anyway so we're staying in.

Not much to do around the house house-work wise since I cleaned good yesterday but there are still stuff I want to do (isn't there always?! ) I just have to do the basic tidying up & I already swept all the floors (kitchen, LR & DR) and did dishes.

Today:

~More laundry (seems like I"m constantly doing laundry around here  )

~Straighten up my desk (meaning organize/throw away papers)
~ Straighten up basement & vacuum basement.
~ Draw & color with Lexie on big posterboard
~ Follow up with the company I ordered her kitchen set from to see when it will get here. I never got an email with tracking info.

Her bday is coming up soon (but her party is this Sun.) so in the upcoming days I really need to take care of things with that....

Rachel, where do you live now? Still in Jersey?

Well... I had an AWFUL past three days... particularly as it relates to diet and exercise. We were gone most all day Saturday... and yesterday I felt like crud all day long... sore throat and headache and just TIRED. I woke up feeling lots better today, thankfully... but I feel like I've let the house go completely... SO.. .my list for today:

Call the nephrologist for an appt for Zoe
Call and make reservations in Cape May for our anniversary
Get laundry put away FINALLY (of course, then there is always another load! )
Exercise
HOPEFULLY vacuum the upstairs bedrooms/ bathroom...

Had to come back to update: Finally got DH to agree to preschool! I told him that it was a SERIOUS problem when Caroline screams less at the doctor's office than she does at the prospect of spending time alone with him. :nono: However, we're waiting until the fall. It seems senseless to spend the money for her to only go for a month or so until they're out for the summer. :dunno: So we're going to start two days a week in the fall and until then, DH is going to work hard at spending more time with her. (It's hard right now due to his work schedule - tax season - but that will be over in less than a month). This past Friday they went out to dinner and some shopping, and Saturday morning they fed geese at the pond and went to the playground. This allowed me to do a huge section of my cross-stitch, take a nice leisurely bubble bath with nobody knocking at the door, and vaccum the whole house without a screaming toddler on my leg! To cover some things that were asked:

Cortney said: A few things...what does your husband have against any babysitter that's not family? How do you feel about other babysitters? Also- why did James bring her to you when you were getting your haircut?
He's from a paranoid NY family, and the idea of a complete stranger in our house left alone with our kid just freaks him out. Admittedly, I wouldn't want any of the young girls in our neighborhood babysitting either, but that's because they're immature and irresponsible, not that I think they would kidnap her. I don't know why James brought her to my haircut, but he now knows to not EVER do that unless she's bleeding. :nono:

So, I wanted to let everyone know that the ideas worked and things are improving! :aok:

I signed up for Flylady too - like someone else mentioned, there are some things that are helpful and some things aren't. I can't spend 15 minutes in my zone every single day -it's not that dirty! Two days of 15 minutes are enough to get things straight, so for the other three days I do other productive things. I'm still trying to figure out what my everyday routines should be, though.

Today's list to accomplish:
Take bag and box to Goodwill Done!
Fill another bag from closet for Goodwill In progress
Hang some pictures Nope -can't find the hammer.
Dust bedroom
And if I get those done, we'll head to Kohl's to scope out some spring clothes - in hopes that spring EVER arrives around here! Ooops, already done. Went there after Goodwill since they are so close to each other!

Jen, I'm glad you're feeling better! :bighug:

Anne, great news on getting him to agree to preschool!

I'm feeling kind of blah, so I don't have much on the agenda today...
~wash sheets and towels
~one other load of laundry
~maybe take Katie to Target and buy her the Jumperoo

Ok...you all have my curiosity held and I'm wanting to check out that FlyLady thing that's been talked about. Is the website for that the same as it's name (flylady.com)??? Thanks.

Anne ~ That's great that you agreed on a preschool! :aok:

You girls are so much more productive than I am... I've just been soooo tired lately. I really would think I was PG if I hadn't just had AF last week! I don't know what my story is. I didn't get much sleep last night (had trouble falling asleep to begin with, and then a certain someone decided that 6:15 AM was a great time to wake up and demand attention...) so I have a feeling I won't get much done today either.

My goals for this week:
~ Take Emily to Picture People for her 9-month photos (or maybe try Kiddie Kandids)
~ Buy an engagement gift for our friends Jen and Rafael (BEFORE Wednesday evening)
~ Visit my aunt
~ Wash and put away all of Emily's new clothes
~ Clean off all the junk piled up on the dining room table!

Dawn, yes, it's flylady.com Although be forewarned, you will get a TON of email in a day. You don't need to do everything, but it can be overwhelming at first.

I don't have a daily "reminder list" for the most part.... but I do have a list of things that can be done, "when I have a free moment". I finally wrote them down in my paper notepad, if anything because I always seem to forget there are other things that can be done than playing online all day.

Rachel, where do you live now? Still in Jersey?

Jen - No, we're in Virginia now. But I lived off of Dutch Road (back by what used to be the Country Swim Club) for the better part of 30 years.

Yesterday was a lazy, lazy day, which leaves me with lots to do today. Thank goodness for three hour morning naps!

- Call for quotes on truck rentals (done...nobody has a truck available that I can find, so it's DHs problem now)
- Call to change doctors appointment (half done...I called but the appointment isn't changed because there are no office hours today, so I have to call again tomorrow)
- try to clean the sweet potato stain off of DDs white sleeper (done)
- clean the carpet where the rest of the sweet potato stain ended up (done...gotta love how those tasks you *have* to take care of right away make you look so productive on the "to do" list)
- put away the laundry I folded last night (done)
- pick up a certified letter from the post office
- find a recipe for the pork chops DH decided to defrost
- start looking into arrangements for DDs baby naming in September (I looked up the rabbi's phone number, does that count?)

Of course there's the ever present need to clean up dog hair and whatever clothes DH left on the floor this morning. I should probably also scrub something in the bathroom, but I'll leave that for another day. We're out of here in 30 days...how bad could the place get before then if I go on strike?

Well, I did what I wanted to do. I'm happy with how things look. I'm not embarassed to have anyone see my house (unless they look in the bedrooms or basement, but those are lost causes at the moment  ).

I got most of my shopping done for the week, which was nice. I'll probably pick up more stuff later this week, but mostly that will just be to get out of the house.

I'll come up with my list for tommorow later :)

Lynn

A little late...!

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
I'm Lynn (32) married to Keith (29). We have a 8 1/2 month old son, Aaron.

2) How long have you been a SAHM?
I stopped working when I was 27 weeks pregnant.

3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
I designed offices and was in sales for a large office furniture dealership. BORING BORING BORING! :)

4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
My #1 priority each day is making sure Aaron gets at least one good, quality nap. Sounds silly, but we have battled naps since day 1. He's doing 80% better than before but we occasionaly still battle. My other priorities include keeping our house in order, keeping my DH in line  and finally making myself look presentable.
I don't necessarily need motivation in getting stuff done each day, but since DH works from home I can get pretty lazy. It would sometimes be easier if he worked outside the home because I would feel the motivation to hurry and get stuff accomplished before he arrived home for the day.
However - since having Aaron I find it hard to finish tasks I have started. For instance, I have been working on doing a stamping technique on the risers of our stairs for oh - about 3 weeks! I am very lucky and I have a DH who cleans more than I do! :) I have slowly been trying to go through a TON of magazines in our house. That is my major goal for the week. I go through all the magazines, rip out articles I want to refer to later, and then file them in one of those expandable plastic files.

Those pictures are so adorable!

Today's List:
*Prenatal Appointment at 9am
*clean bedroom
*(get some sewing done (wool covers)
*dishes
*start bedroom....again  (my IL's keep finding "reasons" to go in there when they visit, so I'm thinking it's not accidental but to see if we ever clean it  )
*put some laundry away

JenM
March 23rd, 2004, 07:14 AM
Carla  That comment about the IL's cracked me up! That is definitely the one room in my house I completely avoid and procrastinate on! Poor DH has to put up with it too :( I really SHOULD make it a priority.

As for my productivity yesterday... I somehow only managed to get one and a half things done :( I made our reservations to Cape May for our anniversary.... believe it or not... that took me the better part of an afternoon to find where we'd want to stay and make the reservation... I also did exercise... but only for 20 minutes since DD Ellie needed my attention half way through :( Sigh. Oh well.

Today: I have delusions of grandeur today! I am PLANNING on actually GOING OUT! Shock! I want to go find some easter items... outfits to get the girls easter pictures taken in... I also need one more small thing for a wedding shower for this weekend. ALL else is on hold. We have beautiful, semi-warm weather today... so I figure if I can be there for when the stores open at 10... I can get a few places in before Zoe needs to go down for her nap... and if necessary I can go back out after the nap this afternoon.

Question: Does anyone else nap every day? Okay... YES, I do this. I sort of feel like it is my right, at least until Ellie is sleeping through the night. I've thought many times how much MORE I would probably get done if I wasn't doing this.... but just can't bring myself to give it up. It's also when I get to cuddle exclusively with Ellie for a while... I cuddle up to her and nurse her while we sleep... Though she DOES wake up a lot so I don't really get SLEEP per se'.... but I do get rested. Anyway, just curious if I am the only sloth out there. ;)

Yesterday's List:

~More laundry (seems like I"m constantly doing laundry around here  )

~Straighten up my desk (meaning organize/throw away papers)
~ Straighten up basement & vacuum basement.
~ Draw & color with Lexie on big posterboard - DONE
~ Follow up with the company I ordered her kitchen set from to see when it will get here. I never got an email with tracking info. DONE

I didn't seem to get alot done. THat's because I spent ALOT of time figuring out our possible vacation plans (we're trying to get away like in 2-3 wks!!! We're SO LOOOOONG overdue on a vacation). We have a hold on reservations but I have to call the agent at 9 am to ask her a couple more things b4 it's finalized. Oh, I also did up a spreadsheet yesterday comparing the 2 different places.

Right now I'm in the basement with Lexie and I will be doing the 1st 3 things on yesterday's list (not sure if I'll do a good job on straightening my desk cuz I want to go out to do some errands so that may be held off on another day this week). Other things for today include:

- Buy Dora the Explorer fruit snacks for the favor boxes for her bday
- Get a total of kids/adults so I know what size cake to order (want to order it by tomorrow....Thurs. the latest)
-Buy a pregnancy test
- Find white shoes for her to wear for her 2 yr. old pics (I am so bad, she'll be 2 in 2 days & we haven't even gotten her pics taken.)

Jen ~ No, I don't take naps. Although there are times I really feel like it, I don't. Why? Well, like you said...I feel that more could be done, there's alot to be done & take care of. I will though "rest my body" by sitting down and watching my soap for 1 hr. though :blush1: .I do take naps if I'm absolutely zonked though! When Alexia was a newborn and I was sleep deprived, I would take naps all the time!

Jill ~ Emily's pics came out too cute!!! :aok:

Lynn! So happy to see you here!

Jill, those pics came out great! I have a coupon for Kiddie Kandids, so I'm hoping to use that for Aiden's 1 yr pics. I don't really do monthly pics.... well, actually, *I* am the photographer for those. I've had photography classes, and I don't do a bad job, so I"m just too cheap to go out and have them taken.

Today I have to make sure that I call the moving company that we used in December.

We have Gymboree class today

And I need to work on straightening up my sewing room/office where all MY crap will be going. I'm hoping to eventually start sewing for hire, but I must practice, practice, practice.... and before I do that, I have to organize my room, or I will never get started. Yes, I was one of those people in college who had to clean before studying for a test.

Must also take pics of things to go on ebay....

Jill - Emily is adorable! I hope when I have Sam's 6 month pictures taken in a couple of weeks that they come out as well!

Jen - I can't believe you live on Dunhams Corner. It absolutely is a small world. Ah, Warnsdorfer Elementary...brings back memories. :)

So much to do, so little time... Today's list:
- start calling utility companies to shut off service when we move (DONE)
- mail MILs birthday card (DONE)
- empty dishwasher (DONE...at 2:30 AM thanks to Sam waking up for some strange reason)
- clean bathroom sinks and toilets (DONE)
- go grocery shopping
- find a place to get the dog groomed that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, so I can cancel the appointment at the place that does
- reschedule doctors appointment
- work on Sam's baby naming

Yesterday was productive. DH finally found a truck rental, so that's off my radar. And I finished everything else I had to do, plus managed to get some scrapbooking done after Sam went to bed. It helps that I don't set my sights too high...nothing ambitious - like scrubbing the shower or dusting the baseboards - on my lists (even though both probably should get done soon)!

Have a good day everyone!

Michele
March 23rd, 2004, 10:20 AM
I didn't get a chance to get on here yesterday...

Today I have already been quite productive.

Clean kitchen - DONE
Laundry - STARTED
Exercise - DONE
Healthy Breakfast - DONE
Shower and Dress - DONE
Go to bank
Make grocery list
Put dinner in crockpot
Clean out drawers in closet

As for the napping, I am trying really hard not to. When Jackson was a newborn (well, up until a couple weeks ago actually  ) I was napping all the time. However, now that he is sleeping 12 hours a night I don't feel that it is justified for me any more. I usually go to bed around 11 and wake up around 7 or 7:30 so I try really hard not to get back in bed b/c I feel that is a good amount of sleep. Usually I make my bed right away so I won't get back in - that's the only thing that works for me. I do miss my cuddle time with Jackson though. I usually watch the Ellen Degeneres Show everyday at 4, so I cuddle with Jackson while I am watching that...if he cooperates!

Do you think that you are PG? Let us know that would be so exciting. :hug99:Thanks, Lexie (which, by the way is my daughter's nickname ;) ) :)
Uh, yea...I maybe could be. If I remember correctly when the 1st day of my LMP was, and when we did our deed almost 2 wks. after that....well I would have been a fertile Myrtle during that time (i checked on an online ovulation calander  ) and we weren't careful. Much sooner than what we had wanted if it's true....but we'll deal. I'm nervous just thinking about it. However if I am & once it settles in, I'm sure it will be joyous though. We were going to try this Aug. for a May baby...but when the time came closer to Aug. we would of decided to do it or to put it off some more depending on some things. Does anyone know of the brand preg. test that detects if your preg. like 5 days b4 your period is due? Thanks. Gosh...I can't believe I'm talking about this without the official results. NOONE (besides DH of course) knows...well, now whoever else reads this will.

JillMelissa
March 23rd, 2004, 11:04 AM
Oh my gosh, Dawn! I'm on pins and needles for you. I think it's First Response that advertises that you can test 5 days out... I just saw a commercial for it this morning and told DH that by the time we're ready to try again (in like 2-3 years) there will be a morning-after test, instead of a morning-after pill!

Thanks for the compliments on my little supermodel, you guys! I love Picture People. I've had her pictures done every month, and I've been pleasantly surprised by how well her portraits have come out at JC Penney!

(Oh, and nope... Jen and Raf did not go to TSC!)

My to-do list for today...

~ Put Emily's laundry away
~ At least start getting all that crap off the dining room table!
~ Start dinner in the crockpot around 2
~ Um... figure out what to make in the crockpot
~ Wrap engagement present
~ Maybe work a little more on my college scrapbook
~ Grocery store!

JillMelissa
March 23rd, 2004, 11:06 AM
Oh! And nope, I'm not a nap-taker either. I always seem to feel worse after a nap, instead of better. Sometimes I rest during her nap - read a book, watch some TV - other times I am more active - cleaning, exercising, etc.!

Thanks Jill. I will get that one. Gosh, my stomach is in knots!!! I will test hopefully today since I think I'm *suppose* to get AF today (...it's a no-show so far.) However, there are times it peeks in the next day or even a day early. Either way, it should be accurate to tell me if I am or not. Oh wait...I just remembered there were only 29 days in Feb. so it *could be* that it won't come for another couple days then (I think AF came on 2/23). Maybe I'll still test today....if I get 2 of them. Either way...I think I'm still in that 5-day range. *insert nervous smilie here* Gosh, is it obvious that I'm confused/nervous or what?!?!

I remember how I felt when I thought that I was PG with Lane... we had been trying for 9 months and I thought it was never going to happen. I took the test(ept) and it was like a instant result. I didn't know whether to cry or be happy or both. I will be thinking about you... Good Luck.

Thanks Lexie. Well, I picked it up *nerves*. I've decided it's probably best to do a morning test. So I will, either tomorrow morn. or Thurs. morn. (which, by the way is my Lexie's bday). If AF does happen to come in the next couple days, I'm sure it's highly unlikely that I am. So far for the record we've had, I've gotten preg. right away (1st time was like 4 yrs. ago but I m/c at 9 wks. & the 2nd time during the first try for Lexie). But I know things can change. We'll see either tomorrow AM or the next day AM! yikes!

Sorry guys, if I've gotten carried away with this preg. talk. I guess I'm kinda nervous feeling and needed to let it out. :)

My list is going to be short today since I had an awful sleep last night. I just couldn't fall asleep.

Good luck Dawn!!!! I'm feeling excited for you!

I usually don't take naps, but sometimes I lay down for a while when Ethan sleeps.

I think I got most of what I wanted to do done except put clothes away, but the day isn't over yet. I'm cooking supper right now while the boys sleep, being bored by the TV (the only thing on is the new gov't budget).

My prenatal appointment went well, except I've gained 10lbs this month. I dont' know why as I'm probably eating less than usual. I'm scared I have GD, although I'm sure I don't. I'll be getting my appointment for that test next month. Yuck!! Oh, and I have another ultrasound April 1st.

Today's list:
Bring Ethan to playgroup
Pick up some velcro
Attempt making wool cover shorts
bake some goodies for church Family History Center
clean (don't care what, just something!!)
Dishes
Attend Family History Center opening

MIL is taking Ethan for the afternoon, so that will be nice as I can get lots more done when he's not here (even more if DH isn't here ;) ). I woke up earlier than usual and thought I should get some stuff done, but decided to take advantage of the quiet house and do my own thing. THings would just get dirty as soon as DH and Ethan woke. Wish me luck & positive vibes...I'm very nervous & 'scared' at the same time. Initially we were going to start trying in Aug. for a May baby. Looks like Lexie will be a big sister 6 mos. earlier than planned!

My list for this week is simple HAVE A BABY! Uhhg, I'm so tired of being pregnant and of contractions! I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow...so hopefully he thinks it's time to come... I think he is stubborn, he WANTED to come 7 weeks ago and we wouldn't let him, so now he is never coming out. Eh, I get induced April 12th if he doesn't come before then...that is so far away though!

Other than that...I hope to make dinner before dh gets home, since we have to go drive around tonight to every comp usa withing driving distance looking for a certain brand and model number of a network adaptor or something like that...his newest project at work is in the "testing phase" and he basically needs one of every brand/model to test it with...who knows...I'm not the geek, he is.

Tomorrow are Janelle's Easter/18 month pictures. I gave up on having a baby in time to get them done together.

I LOVE that picture, she is adorable! Where did you get those done? Our appt tomorrow is at jc penney, we've had the best luck with them so far.

Dawn, I tested positive with Janelle like 10 days before AF was due...I ended up having a dating ultrasound like 2 1/2 weeks after my BFP and I was only 5w2d pregnant, so I tested positive at like 2w5d or something crazy like that. Based on ultrasound dating this time around I was 3w2d when I got my BFP! So they can work pretty early for at least some people!

Lynn, I'm so glad you're here!! :bighug:
Jill and Anne, those pictures of your girls look great!! I'm thinking that maybe I should schedule an Easter portrait for Katie...hmm...
Jillian, I hope that baby comes soon!! I bet you NEVER thought you'd be sitting around waiting for childbirth!
Mandy, have you thought about making those tote diaper bags for people? I know I really want one and would pay someone on here to make one for me.

Nothing major for me today--Katie and I are waging battle over her naps...she can't nap without being swaddled (she waves her arms around and smacks herself awake) but she isn't always willing to be swaddled. :dunno: Not fun!!!

Congratulations Dawn! :woo:

Thanks for all the compliments - Jillian, would you believe these are pictures from Walmart? We have had such awesome luck with them, and how can you beat a package of pictures for $4.88??? We also had her Christmas/birthday pictures done there last year.

Didn't get much done today other than a load of laundry and picking up the living room, because the weather has FINALLY gotten nice here so we spent most of the morning outside!

Actually I believe it! We had some great Walmart pictures...we just stopped using them around 10 months old cause we had used every background possible at that point...I think Janelle had like 16 photo sessions by the time she was 1, and then only 2 since then...

I made a lemon white wine sauce from epicurious, and I'm defrosting chicken breasts...we have a couple cans of artichoke hearts in the cupboard and some fettucine...I'm thinking chicken and artichoke hearts over top of fettucine with the sauce and some capers...perhaps sun dried tomatoes if I can find the jar of them in the fridge... So dinner should be pretty easy to do!

I also finally managed to sort through all of Janelle's clothes!! Now I have to sort through the 4 totes of clothes she has outgrown and start taking pictures of it...we aren't having any more girls so it's going on e-bay (except for those special outfits I will save forever, ofcourse). All though that might be a project for after Kincaid comes.

I also have to see if I can do anything about a white dress the dh washed with a red dress...I doubt it though...

Thanks so much Lexie, Michelle, Jillian, Carla, Hilary, Eva, Sarah, Anne, Jill & Celeste! :bighug:

Today is going to be a busy day. Let's just say I didn't get alot done from the list I made out yesterday.

For sure we have The Little Gym today at 9:15 am. Then she has her 2 yr. old well-visit today at 3 pm. So sometime after Little Gym and before she goes in for her nap, I have to:

~run to the food store (yes, to still get those darn Dora fruit snacks for the favor boxes. It's only been on my list for like 2 or 3 days now! ). Also buy cake mix to bake her a little cake for tonight.

~ Wrap her gifts from us that she'll open tonight.

~Go to post office to mail something out and buy stamps while I"m there.

~Order her bday cake at the bakery. Bring in a Dora picture.

~At this point find any darn pair of white shoes so she can have her pics taken. Appointment is for tomorrow.

Busy, busy day today and alot of running around. I never made it out of the house yesterday, that's why I'm now backed up with my errands. :(

List 3/24/04

1. Grocery shopping - DONE
2. Exercise - DONE
3. Healthy breakfast and lunch -DONE
4. Cook dinner - DONE
5. Clean out fridge
6. Clean out drawers in closet

I didn't get as much done yesterday as I had planned. On my way to the grocery store I realized that it was sunny and beautiful out (for a change), so I took Jackson for a long walk to the park. I did walk 3.5 miles, on top of my morning workout, so I was at least being semi-productive.

Today's list...

1. Exercise
2. Dust and vacuum living room/dining room
3. Clean out fridge
4. Wrap Linda's present, write out card
5. Healthy breakfast

Not much for today b/c I have a busy day. It is my best friend's mother's birthday (she is like my 2nd mother) so my friend and I are taking her out to lunch. Then I have "book club" tonight - a bunch of friends get together once a month, and we are supposed to talk about our book, but that never happens. Both of these events are about 1/2 hour from home, in opposite directions, so I will be on the road a lot today. I am really hoping that Jackson behaves, b/c he had his first public meltdown at the grocery store yesterday  I guess I shouldn't complain since he made it this long w/o a public meltdown, but it made grocery shopping less than fun yesterday!

Oh, my baby is 5 months old today! I can't believe it....

OK... I had to go to the Chiropractor yesterday because something is wrong with my hip. My left hip is 3/4 of an inch lower than my right hip. It hurts so bad I can't do anything. I have to literally crawl around at some points because it hurts so bad. I can't do anything until this weekend, he said I have to take it easy. That is really hard for me to do in my mind with a 14 month old. So my goals for today are to.....

1. Play with Lane as much as possible.
2. Try to keep the house picked up.
3. Be dressed and Ready when my friend Laura comes over.
4. Relax

Not much from me here... Sorry it is so boring.

A little late.... but thought I would join in on the fun :)

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
I am Lisa, DH is Chris... Our daughter, Carolyn, was born on Jan. 1, 2004.. almost 3 months old!

2) How long have you been a SAHM?
Since I was 10 weeks pregnant!

3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
I was a Pre-K teacher. I planned to go back to work in Septemer 2003 and work until my maternity leave around Thanksgiving. But instead, I got laid off so I hae been home since June 2003. Turned out to be the best thing for me... got to enjoy my pregnancy at home and I am still collecting unemployment

4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
Right now my priorities are all about Carolyn. I definately need help with getting motivated to clean the house!

5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?
Definately hope to get motivation but also its great that you all know just how hard (and rewarding) being a SAHM mom is. :)

Thanks Sarah! (Alexia says thank you too!) :)

Lisa ~ Welcome! :wavey:

Christina
March 25th, 2004, 11:00 PM
I hope its okay for me to jump in here with you gals. I am losing my job in a few weeks (being layed off). I plan on being a SAHM. I am very excited and nervous. I have been waiting for this for almost 3 years now. We saved and payed off a bunch of loans, debt, etc, and got to a point where we could afford for me to stay home. It worked out that my company is relocating out of the area...........so I will be layed off in April. I will have a severence package that pays through July, so that will be nice. We plan on just putting the money right away for emergencies and just try living off of DH's salary.

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
Christina, DH is Bill, a daughter Kaylin Brianna age 3 1/2 years, and a son, Nathaniel Liam, age 5 months.

2) How long have you been a SAHM?
Will officially be a SAHM in April. I have been only working a few days a week recently (using up my vacation before my layoff occurs).

3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
I was/am a Scientist for a Vaccine company. Like Lisa, I will be laid off and able to collect unemployment for awhile, which will be nice...........kind of easing my way into losing my salary.

4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
My priority lately when I am home with the kids has been to try to figure out a routine that works for a 5 month old AND a 3 1/2 year old. I feel like I don't give enough to each of them. Or feel guilty for spending too much time with just one and not the other. Also, to try to figure out how to manage the housework as well as caring for the children. I need help with getting going in the morning. I tend to procrastinate so our day won't get started until almost noon. The time goes by fast.

5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?
I hope to get ideas and support from you seasoned SAHM's. I am so new at all of this.

Shopping with mom wiped me out. Towards the end, I was banging into things, I was so tired and dizzy, so I took it easy when I got home. I got some great stuff at the second hand store though.

I'm still not feeling all that great today, so I'm not going to make a list. I'll just attempt what I didn't get done and do what I can.

Okay, I really need to buckle down and get some work done today. I am not going to let myself near the computer during Emily's afternoon nap! Here's today's list:

1. CLEAN OFF the dining room table. It is getting ridiculous and I need to use that table if I want to get even close to caught up on my scrapbooking.
2. Boil a bag of mixed veggies for Emily's dinner for tonight and tomorrow night
3. Finish loading the dishwasher
4. Load the washer so that when Emily goes to bed I can just drop her clothes from today in, and get it started
5. Take advantage of the warm weather and take Emily out walking over to visit our friend who has a new baby
6. After the afternoon nap, take Emily to the mall to get her picture taken with the Easter Bunny!

It's too bad there's not a Pasover Bunny (Passover Duck? Passover Mongoose?)... it seems like all of the "fun" stuff (Santa, the Easter Bunny) is for the Christian holidays. I need to come up with some ideas to make the Jewish holidays just as much fun for Emily, so they don't get lost in the shuffle... (I am Jewish and my DH is not and we're raising Emily in both traditions.)

Welcome Christina! :wavey: You worked for a vaccination co., huh? My sister works for a pharmaceutical company. :) (don't know if it's similiar but I know their co. makes some vaccinations, i think ???)

Lexie - Lane is a cutie! :) Also, hope you feel better soon. :bighug:

Well between yesterday and today I:
- bought sodas for the adults for Lexie's party at The Little Gym on Sun. (got a sale at Pathmark...4 12-packs of soda for $10.00. While I was there I finally bought those Dora fruit snacks to include in the favor boxes for the kids.
- Went to our bakery and ordered 1/2 sheetcake for her party (Dora)
- Went to post office to mail something out.
- Went to bank to make deposit
- Finalized our mini-vacation for next week! We leave in 6 days to Miami (South Beach)! :)
- Did more research on Miami....restaurants, etc.
- Wrapped Lexie's presents & baked Lexie her bday cake and had a small party for her last night with just the 3 of us.
- swept and mopped kitchen, LR, and DR
- cleaned our room
- cleaned Lexie's room
- Did a load of wash
- Called my OB to make my first prenatal Dr's apt. (it's Tues, March 30th)

and the basic everyday things of doing dishes, keeping the kitchen clean, and picking up the LR a zillion times (aka: Toys R Us  )

Mandy, have you thought about making those tote diaper bags for people? I know I really want one and would pay someone on here to make one for me.

Sarah, I've thought about it.... just my computer has been acting up lately so I haven't been able to get the word out that I'm "for hire" and not in an illegal way. (In fact, I tried to reply to this four times yesterday before I finally gave up.... we have to restart the computer every time it loses internet connection. *grumble*)

Congrats Dawn!!!

Wow, you will all have to forgive me for being behind.... like I said, the computer is acting up because my little man enjoys hanging from the wires of the laptop. :disbelief

I did A LOT today. I found at the last minute that indeed, my father is coming to visit. I have really slacked this week with the household duties so we could go out and enjoy the nicer weather this week. So, I did A LOT of cleaning today.... that I would normally do over a week. Whoops!

I plan on doing some sewing this weekend.... or atleast some cutting. It's easier to sew during the week than it is to cut out the patterns. That's basically it for my plans!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi, everybody. I hope that the weather by all of you was as beautiful today as it was here! I ended up taking Sam out for the afternoon, so we didn't get a whole lot accomplished. Unless you count trying on some very cute shoes an accomplishment. :) I'll be going back to buy some soon, I just know it.

What I did get done:
1. Wash load of whites
2. Fold and put away colors from yesterday, and whites from today
3. Vacuum carpets
4. Clean dog bowls (ick!)
5. Play with Sam
6. Go for a walk with Sam and DH after work

I didn't get anything clean in the kitchen or bathrooms, and I didn't get any non-carpet floors clean. No packing for our move. No scrapbooking (although I found an amazing supply store during our outing today, so I have new stuff if not the time to use it).

My ONLY goal for the weekend is to pull DH away from car maintenance long enough to go to a museum or the zoo or something.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Dawn
March 26th, 2004, 09:39 PM
Thanks Mandy! :)

The only thing I want to be sure I get accomplished this weekend is making sure the house stays clean (or staying on top of it I should say). We're thinking of maybe having our immediate families coming over to our house on Sunday after Lexie's party at The Little Gym, so that we can tell them the news! We'll see. I like to abide by the "no telling until 3 mo. rule", however heaven forbid something should happen I would certainly want their support. Oh, and if we do decide to tell them on Sunday (if not, then it will most likely be sometime after my first Dr.'s apt. which is March 30th), I'm thinking of having a way for Lexie to do it...like saying something like "Lexie big sister" or "Baby in mommy's tummy". Eh, we'll see!

~Andrea~

I guess a printing tshirt place. ?? Hmn...that means it'll have to be done tomorrow IF we decide to tell them (or shall I say have lexie tell them  ) on Sun. If we don't tell them on Sunday, I'll talk to DH see if he likes the idea to do on another day....

Thanks for the idea, Andrea. I will keep that in mind. :)

Thanks for the ideas everyone! :bighug: Uh, still haven't a clue if we're gonna tell them/have them over tomorrow or not. :dunno:

Well, DH took Lexie out with him for 4 hrs. today to give me a break. It was so nice. Even though most of it I spent cleaning, it was still nice being alone.... I've been weepy, crabby and emotional lately....and at times sometimes Lexie just adds to my emotions when she's being 'high-maintenance'. I'm not use to it as I didn't have any of those preggo symptoms with Alexia. As I was reading about it, I know it can be common for these symptoms to happen in the first trimester and moreso with your 2nd child the book said. :dunno: But whatever the case, I hope I'm not like this throughout the whole pregnancy! it sux! Sorry to ramble....

Anyway, so here's what I did today: I sorted thru all my shoes that I don't want or don't fit me. Took pics of them to put on ebay to try and sell. Alot of them I hardly worn. I did a load of wash, then the second load I put in the kitchen sink area rug and the bathroom rug. I folded and put away the clothes from the load I did yesterday. Did the dishes too. I wanted to dust the entertainment center and tv...but I suppose that can wait until later or tomorrow. Tonight I will work on the favor boxes for her bday tomorrow...all I have to do is just add the things that will go in them.

SarahK

So how hard is it to get started selling stuff on Ebay? I just (finally! ) packed up my maternity clothes and unpacked my non-maternity stuff...and realized that 80% of the non-maternity stuff is stuff I'm not going to wear any more. Most of it is Eddie Bauer stuff, so it's decent...and I probably could get some money for it if I had ANY clue how to Ebay.

Ebay is pretty easy to sell on. Do you have an account? Sign up and you can sell it individually or in lots. Do you have a digital camera? You could take pictures and post them as well. The hardest thing is taking it to the post office for shipping.

I do have a digi camera and an EBay account. What do people usually do about shipping though? I've seen where it says "buyer to pay actual shipping"...but how do you know ahead of time what the shipping is? At the end of the auction do I just get their zip and take the package to the post office to get an estimate--and then tell them what it is and wait for them to pay and then ship it?

Sarah, we knew about buying on Ebay but had NO CLUE about the selling end of it. For starters, I put up a pair of jeans on there ....you know, just to get use to it and see how it goes, etc. DH just recently put a couple satellite receivers on there as well.

Anyway, here are a few threads that helped me out tremendously, because like I said, I knew NADA!!!!! The first couple links has alot of really good "beginner" tips on selling and the rest are very informative as well! Hope these help you, as I know it helped me! :)

Sarah,
You can chose an option that has them put their zip code in and it will calculate shipping based on the size of the package and dimensions you have. I have sold on ebay a lot. Sometimes I make a good profit. Other times, I might have made more if I consigned the stuff. Its hit or miss. Since your stuff is name brand, it will probably get more.

Dawn - congrats. Which co does your sister work for? I worked for Wyeth. They make pharmaceuticals too like Advil, Robitussin, Centrum, Premarin, Provera, Effexor, Enbrel, Flumist..........etc etc.

I was going to suggest what Christina did you could weigh it to on your home scale. And here our consignment shop said we would make more money selling on EBAY but I live in rural country.

I haven't posted a list in a couple of days and thought that I should...

This is what I got done today!
1. Got present for my friend to say thank you! (I got her a tart burner and like 8 different scents to put in it!)
2. Made a Cheesecake to take over to friends house for dessert.
3. Get desk cleaned off and organized.
4. Got Lane bathed and dressed.
5. Loaded and Unloaded dishwasher.
6. Got the house dusted.

Got alot done today!

Tomorrow I have to go back to the Chiropractor and have him adjsut my hip. (My left hip is 3/4 of a inch lower from carrying Lane around and they have to adjust it so it wont hurt anymore... so far it has helped but we shall see!)

I am not sure about the rest of the rest of the day tomorrow but I will check back in later and update!

OMG.....what a SMALL WORLD, Christina! My sister works at Wyeth too!!!
She's been there for almost a year, and before that she worked at Shering Plough. She took the Wyeth job because they moved way up north jersey and didn't want the commute. Wyeth gave them a nice relocation package. I don't know my sister's exact title, or even what she does :blush1: ....but I'll let you know tomorrow. I wonder if you knew/know her? You have a PM coming from me! :)

Tonight we had "surprise" dinner guests (DH invited the Missionaries from church over, but neglected to tell me until the last minute, as usual  ). So the day was a fury of cleaning and cooking. At least now the house is clean. It was in horrible condition but it feels good to have it in order now. I was putting it off until Monday as I just have not been feeling good lately. I'm looking forward to going to bed as I feel like I've been run over by a truck. I don't know why I'm feeling so blah lately. I sure could use some energy.

No list for tommorow, but I plan on shopping. My favorite grocery store has a half price sale, which is good for stocking up :) . Oh and I need to buy some wool skirts at the second hand store. I've been making Ethan wool diaper soaker shorts which are so adorable and easy. I also want to find a suit pattern for him to make for Easter (if not, I'm going to just make pants and shirt and maybe a vest. Suit jackets are so cute on little boys though  ). I am really loving sewing lately!!

Just wanted to give yous all an update. We decided NOT to have family over after Alexia's bday party at The Little Gym...however, we DID manage to tell them though after the party. After the friends left The Little Gym, all that were left was both sides of our family....PERFECT! So James made the announcement...and all was shocked (everyone thought my other 2 sisters would be pregnant with #2 before us) and totally excited to say the least! :)My one sister couldn't make the party since she had to work, but we called her later that night and put Lexie on the phone and she said "Big sister". So my sister says "oh, you want to talk to Josie? (which is her daughter...Lexie looks up to her like a big sister. ) I had Lexie say it again and my sister still didn't get it. I then told my sis "no, she's not talking about Josie." Then from there she guessed that we were expecting! :)

Lexie's party went real well and the kids had a great time. :) Maybe when I get back from vacation I'll post a couple pics for you to see after I download it to my computer.

Today my exhaustion and tiredness has hit me...real hard. I am exaclty 5 wks. today (i have my first dr's apt. tomorrow). I did manage to get alot of things done though. I really have no choice seeing that we're leaving on vacation in a couple days. Since her party is out of the way, that's the only thing I'm focusing on now! :errr:

Today I:
- Went to the Hallmark store to get a book of stamps and a card for my sister's bday (this Wed.) and for my niece's bday which is in April.
- Went to Old Navy to buy Alexia 2 sun hats for our trip, sunglasses, a terry one piece coverall to wear over her bathing suit, a pair of sandals for her too.
- Target: to get James a pair of sandals, me a pair of white canvas sneakers with laces and no backs so my feet can slip right in them
- ShopRight - for some snacks and stuff that we'll be taking with us on our trip.
- Started putting aside the clothes I'm bringing, and I put aside some stuff for James. Have to finish this tomorrow and have James get the suitcases out so I can start putting things in there.
- I made out a list of things to remember to pack for both us and Lexie
- swept Kitchen, LR and DR
- vacuumed my cat's fur that was all around the basement area where the washer and dryer was.

Phew! I think that's it!

Hope everyone is having a happy Monday!
I won't be on as much in the upcoming days since alot of things have to be done for our vacation, but I'll try to check in when I have a free moment to spare! :)

Guess what??!?! WE SOLD OUR CONDO!!! The people who came to see it at 9:00 made an offer last night and we accepted. I am so relieved and excited! I can't wait to move.

So, they are still showing it today just in case, so my day is still a little messed up, but I have a few things on my list...

1. Get car serviced
2. Go to bank
3. Laundry
4. Exercise

Woo Hoo! Congrats on getting your condo sold! :jump:

I have so many things to do between today and tomorrow.

Between these 2 days I'm concentrating on:

-Writing and mailing out the thank you notes out for Alexia's bday party. These must be mailed out by Wed. the latest since we leave on vacation real early Thurs. morn.

-Finish packing and getting things together for the trip.

-Call/visit the post office to put a hold on our mail.

-Call Federal Express to put a hold on a package we will be receiving while we're away.

- Call a couple cab companies to get quotes on how much they charge for taking us to the airport.

- Keep on the house to keep it straightened up...I hate coming home from vacation to a house that's in disarray or not in order.

- Do a couple loads of laundry

- Go to my Dr's apt. today.

Thanks Stacy and Lexie. :) Well, according to my Dr. my due date is Nov. 30th and not the 29th. We'll see for sure though once I get my first u/s at around the 20 wk. mark (I'm not 100% sure of my LMP...I may be off by a day). I have my next apt. April 29th.

I will most likely have a scheduled c-section. It's pretty much what I had determined already, and after talking to my Dr. not sure if I personally want to take any chances on a VBAC. When the time gets closer looks like we'll be picking the day when baby #2 arrives. :)

7. make iced tea and cookies for our first playgroup tomorrow
8. start packing for our move...or at least start thinking about it!

Ok, regarding my daily "to do" list:

I've always been a little bit of a scatterbrained person- pretty much had no rhyme or reason to anything- for example- I only cleaned the bathroom, changed the sheets, etc when they looked/felt like they needed it.:blush1: PLUS I wasn't getting everything I needed to done in the day and I'd look back on the day in the evening and couldn't hardly remember what I did all day.

I LOVE the feeling of checking things off a list or following by a schedule, but I never really have done it. Needless to say, with my haphazard ways a lot of things around the house don't get done, I don't get ANY time to/for myself (including scrapbooking, bible study, etc), and I feel like a failure at the end of most days.

Soooooo....a friend of mine gave me a scheduling book. It's not exactly what I would've bought for myself, but it works. It's called Managers of Their Homes and it's really for homeschooling, Christian families BUT the principles for scheduling, etc are really helpful for everyone. So I made up a schedule (that I will prob. deviate from somedays) but I'll feel more accomplished at the end of the day I think. Plus I think it will help get Morgan more on a bedtime/resting schedule. I've been spending WAYYYYYY too much time on the computer recently so it allows me only 1 hour per day on the computer, but that should work out well. :)

So thanks for reading this post if you made it this far. Pretty much that's my "to do" list from now on.

Have fun Dawn!

Well I have been sick for a few days and ended up in the ED. :( I am better now and that is what counts. :) Bill's Aunt came to watch the kids for us. That was so nice.

T-12 more work days and I am officially a SAHM. Although I feel like one already since I havne't worked more than 2 days a week in such a long time.

I found us a way to save some more money today! Yay. I switched garbage pickup companies and saved us $120/year :)

I havne't done much around the house because of being sick but hopefully next week I can catch up. :)

Cheers all.

I'm really, really dragging lately. I just want a day I can stay home, but there's always so many things going on :( . Hi there,
I have hesitated joining the thread b/c I keep wanting to read it all first. But it grows every day, so I may as well jump in and let you know I haven't read much yet. I just "discovered" OUAL and am liking it, as it is like UB/OUH combined! Anyhow, on to the questions!
1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...)
Amylee. Zia is 2.5 and Lane is 2 months old as of yesterday!
2) How long have you been a SAHM?
I actually lost my last job right before I became pregnant, in Jan/Feb of 2001. I ended up not getting another job b/c I was REALLY sick with constant nausea and vomiting with the pregnancy.
3) What did you do before this wonderful new job?
I was in internet marketing. Before that I ran a retreat center.
4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day?
Well, I work at home, so I usually have work related tasks. It's much harder with a toddler AND a baby. Sadly, I rely much more on the TV! My main priority after that is .... nursing? I am always nursing! And really, the one "domestic" task I focus on is getting a good dinner on the table around when dh comes home. I need the most motivation in getting off the computer!
5) What do you hope to get out of this journal?
Just general support. Knowing that you understand when I have a day when I feel like I can't get anything done b/c my girls are having a rough day, too, and dh doesn't really get it! KWIM?
I will try to read a few posts now!

I am so far behind on this journal. :(
DOn't worry about it... just jump on in! I'm sure none of us would mind answering a question twice because someone else missed it! :hug1:

MY U/S went good. THe baby is 1lbs 2oz and everything is where it should be. I got a good view of the pelvic area, but couldn't tell if there was anything there (I wasn't close enough to see the "3 lines", but I couldn't see the boy parts. :pteddy: vibes!!). I wasn't able to get a picture because they were really backed up and they would of had to move me, but you couldn't see much at a time anyway, so that's fine.

I got a lot of laundry folding done. Now to get it upstairs  . I'm not bothering with lists for a while because I want to do things on a how I feel basis. I'm feeling a lot better today knowing the baby's ok. I've been really depressed because there hasn't been as much movement and I was concerned. Now that fear is lifted and I can move on.

I think I've accepted that it's ok to have my house look lived in. I can't keep up with everything and I know I"m not the only one. My house is cluttered and not dirty.

Thanks everyone!

I've been very busy. After putting it off for nearly 2 years, I'm tackling the basement. Yesterday I brought all the clothes upstairs (we had at least 10 baskets; we would just go down there to look for things to wear). Actually, I didn't bring up DH's because about half of them were his and I have no idea what he's going to do with them. If it were up to me, most of it would be going. He has more clothes than any woman I know and most of them are ugly!!

Today, I've started cleaning. I've got the laundry area cleaned up (except DH's clothes and some boxes of dishes I have to go through) and I've started tackling the box cubby. In there is over two years worth of boxes we need to get rid of. I've also started cleaning another section where I keep my fabric and gift stuff.

Right now, I'm too tired to do much more, so I think that's it for today. I'm happy with what I've accomplished. I do have to make something for a church gathering tonight and I have some clothes to sort through, but I can take my time with those or not even bother if I don't feel like it :)

4. Look for baptizm invites

I made invites for Gabrielle and I just made some for another online friend. They were VERY simple nd came out very nice (if I do say so myself  )

Oooh, I am looking for Baptism invites too. Those look great Andrea. How did you make them?

~Andrea~
April 2nd, 2004, 04:06 PM
They were easy. For the blue one (which I like much better), I cut 2 strips of card stock to make a cross. Then I cut the card stock (8 1/2 x 11) in 4ths. I placed the cross on the CS and sponged around with the blue ink. The top is printed on vellum. Then it is all attached with eyelets and ribbon. Sounds much more difficult than it really is. It took me a few hours (a little at a time) to do 20 invites. I'm sure I could have charged mroe than I did, but I enjoy making them.

For those buying invites, how much do you spend on them? I am trying to figure out how much I should charge if anyone else wants to buy them.

Hi, Everyone! :wavey:

My name is Theresa. DH is Keith. I'm SAHM to Elizabeth (Ellie) Claire, born 12/20/01 and Ian David, born 10/25/03. I've been a SAHM since I was put on bedrest at 35 weeks with Ellie.

For us, me staying home was really the only choice. I didn't make enough money to justify one child in day care never mind 2. I've always imagined myself staying home and I really do love it. I honestly don't know how women work full time and have small children. I couldn't do it that's for sure.

I look forward to getting to know you all soon! :)

Have fun! :wavey:

I really want to get to the sewing store today to get some supplies. I want to make Ethan a suit for Easter (ok, I probably won't make a suit jacket, but a dress shirt, pants and tie) and I want to make him some cool easter diapers. So I need some dye and if I can't get DH to give up a white shirt (I want to recycle one so I don't have to make button holes, lol!), I think I'll need some white broadcloth and I need some more elastic.

I also want to clean a little more of the basement and get the kitfchen cleaned up. I'm lso getting really close to getting our bedroom cleaned, so I'll spend a little time on that. If only Dh would get his butt in gear and do something about his clothes, it would cut the clutter problem in half (his dresser is empty but there's a mountain of clothes on top  ). I already shoved his sweaters in a closet and got grouched at for that, so I'm not touching the rest his clothes, except maybe to throw them out the window

Welcome Theresa! :wavey:

Lexie - Hope you have a nice trip! :)

Well, girls....we're baaaaaack! Got home last night around 8 pm and boy was it ever cold here in NJ! BRRRR!! Our vacation was wonderful...we loved it! :) It was nice to enjoy the beautiful warm weather and swim at the beach. :)
I'm gonna hold off on the daily lists for a few days, until I get settled around here. I will make a list of things I would like to do this week though:

- Finish unpacking (i absolutely hate doing this)
- write out some bills
- file
- bring back a Dora bathing suit that's too small for Lexie
- grocery shop
- clean our bedroom
- put Lexie's clothes away that's folded, and put aside her clothes that's starting to be too small on her
- dust the living room

That's all I can think of for now. Today I did some unpacking, swept the floors, and mopped the kitchen floor only. James is home today so he did the dishes and some straighening up which was nice. :)

Welcome back Dawn!! Sitting on a beach would be just heavenly now, of course if it ever gets warm enough here to do that, I'm going to be dying in PG misery

I've been busy with sewing and dyeing. I haven't been structured enough for a list, but I do what I can when I feel like it. I haven't really done anything in the basement, but that's ok. It's hard to stand for a long time, so some things have to be done in sprurts (like dishes and cooking). Things are somewhat under control which is my main goal right now!

Theresa
April 6th, 2004, 09:51 PM
Do you all put up 'to do' lists every day? Cool!

Here's mine for tomorrow:

Fold all the clean laundry and put it away. (I have about 4 loads to do. )
Wash, dry, and fold the kids' clothes.
Pick up the living room.
Empty the dishwasher and wash the dirty dishes.
Pick up van from the mechanic.

I will make a list of things I would like to do this week though:

- Finish unpacking (i absolutely hate doing this) - 1/2 done :blush1: Can you tell I hate unpacking?
- write out some bills - DONE
- file - Nope. Procrastinating on this one too. :blush1:
- bring back a Dora bathing suit that's too small for Lexie - Nope
- grocery shop - DONE
- clean our bedroom - DONE
- put Lexie's clothes away that's folded, and put aside her clothes that's starting to be too small on her - DONE
- dust the living room - DONE

Besides basic cleaning (dishes, etc.) I've swept all floors (DR, LR, kitchen) and mopped the kitchen floor again (one of the downfalls of having white floors...it always seems like I'm mopping).

Not too productive this week. Waves of morn. sickness has started. :blue:

Ack, I wrote a post and it disappeared. That's how things are lately. I've been feeling miserable lately and I seem to be compounding the problem by not taking enough time to slow down and rest. There's so much that needs to be done and even though I swore I'd have a more casual attitude towards clutter, it's really bothering me. It almost feels like nesting but my body and head hurt too much to do anything :dead:

Welcome, Bretta! :wavey:

Welcome back Lexie! :)

Well, we got our house appraised today, signed the papers and OMG...our house will be on the market next week! Uh, have no idea where we're going or where we're moving. :blush1: I don't want to feel 'rushed' into buying a home...so we may opt to rent. sucks...but we'll see. I just want to bank/invest our profit for it to grow a lil' more before we start looking for a house without feeling rushed. :) We have a few things that must be done within the week. James will take care of most but these are the things I must, must do TOMORROW:

- Go to Home Depot and buy lightbulbs (5 that blew out on the DR fixture, 2 that blew out in the bathroom, and 3 in the entertainment center!) I love how these things are taken care of only when necessary.
- Get price quotes from Home Depot and another carpet place for them to install new carpeting going up the stairs/hallway area. For kicks, see how much more for Lexie's room. If not DH will tear up the old rug in her room and just re-do the wood floor underneath it.
- Buy paint for James to paint the bathroom after he takes the wall paper off, and for other touchups around the house.
- Buy a carbon monoxide detector that's required for upstairs.

TO DO SOMETIME THIS WEEK:

- return Lexie's books at library (they are due on Wed.)
- Vacuum basement, vacuum upstairs
- Find a sheer door panel curtain for front door and backdoor. Ones I found aren't the right length.
-Organize/go through desk. Get rid of papers that are piling up.
- FILE!
- Buy more of those large rubbermaid storage bin thingies

Okay, so I'm finally making it over here...I actually just realized that this journal was here!

I'm Robyn (24) and dh is Dale (27) and we have 2 boys, Jacob (2 1/2) and Connor (1) and I am expecting another little surprise, kindly nicknamed Trouble on the 15th of May. Although I have been dealing with pre-term contractions so we may not be making it to the 15th!

I'm really hoping that posting an actual list will help me be a tad bit more productive during the day. I'll probably only post a weekly list though...
*finish sorting through the boys outgrown winter clothes and figure out exactly what they have for the summer
*buy the paint and start painting Trouble's room
*vaccum/wash floors
*change beds
*finish my 4 loads of laundry and actually try to stay ontop of it
*pack up and send my BOLU SWAP packages

Okay, I'll probably add to this...but for now that's a big list!

Hi Everyone!

I'm Terri, DH is George (Geo for short) - I am a SAHM to our two wonderful sons, Vincent age 6 and Anthony (Tony) 11 months. We adopted Vincent from Russia in 1999 and Tony is our surprise baby after many years of infertility. I started staying at home six months prior to our adoption of Vincent. We wanted to see if we could really make it on one income so I took a leave of absence from my job in August of 1998 and never went back.

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!

OK... I haven't posted in here for awhile and thought that it was time....

My list for today is already done since we had a busy day yesterday!

1. Mail check for orders placed with Classic Candles.
2. Made sure Lane actually ate Breakfast... He hasn't wanted to eat lately.
3. Email MIL about coming to town this weekend.
4. Figure out what is for dinner.

Not bad for doing this all before noon Huh!:yippee:

Tomorrow's List

1. Go to OB @ 10:45 am..... This is the first time I will have met her... we had to switch insurance.
2. My MIL bestfriend is voming over to watch Lane so I can go..... he likes her so he should be fine. I just need to make sure everything is ready for her so she doesn't have to hunt for anything.
3. Check on Credit report... I checked it a couple of days ago and a card I had like 4 years ago was shown as never being paid and I paid it off in full and it was showing delinquent.... I was so mad ..... called the Co. and they said to fax all my paperwork and they would take care of it... Damn right they will....

Ok enough of my rambling.... Have a great day Everybody!

My FIL and his wife are coming (from MA) on Thursday, so the rest of this week will just be comprised of trying not to mess up the clean house and relaxing. Maybe I'll finally get some scrapping done too...

First of all, I'm so sorry I've been MIA girls. Things are so crazy around here. Our house went on the market today so we've been busy doing things around here for the past week or so (little bull$shit projects & cleaning of course). I think this is the cleanest my house has been in the 2 yrs. that we've lived here! We have really been working our butts off!!!! I must say everything looks really good! :) Now my main goal until the house gets sold is the upkeep! The last thing I need is for a realtor to call me saying they're on their way and the house is in shambles! They did that today and I was so proud to say "sure, come on over!"

Welcome Robyn and Terri! :wavey:

Sarah, the dress is absolutely beautiful! Great job! :aok: That is wonderful that your mom (and you) have such a wonderful talent! I love that diaper bag that Mandy made, too! :)

I have a couple things I can think of off the top of my head that I want to get done by this week:

~ Return the couple items at Home Depot. Get a refund.
~ Alexia's 2 yr. well-visit tomorrow at noon.
~ Make a detailed spreadsheet to keep track of things I've sold on ebay
~ Buy a couple rubbermaid storage bins.
~ Look at our checking account online. See what debit amounts I forgot to account for that we used our debit cards on & write it in checkbook.
~ Laundry

Sarah, I will certainly try! I'm such a procrastinator it's not even funny!  Then once I do take the pics it takes me a year and a day just to download them to my computer these days.

Michele...where in NJ do you have family?

I got 2 things scratched off my list for this week so far and they are
~ returned and got refund for the items at Home Depot
~ Alexia's 2 yr. well visit today (which, by the way she's 22 lbs. 14 oz. and 33 1/4" long)

We have appointments on Friday and Sat for pple to see the house!!!

Michele...where in NJ do you have family?

All over the place, I was actually born in NJ, but moved to MA when I was 18 months.

This weekend we are going to Toms River, but I also have family in Clifton, Hightstown, Union, and DH has a cousin who lives in Hoboken...

Where are you?

Dawn
April 21st, 2004, 07:39 PM
Oh, ok....I use to live right by Toms River (Bayville). My sister now lives in Manchester which is right by Toms River (her mailing address is T.R.). She lives about an hour and 5-10 min. south of me. We're in Linden (Union county). :)

I was born in Hoboken. :) That's cool that you have family all over in NJ. :)

I've actually been real sick the past couple days. I have the worst cold. :blue: DH is on his way to drop Alexia off overnight at my mom's, as I really need a break & some time to try and rest/relax.

1) What is your name and family stats? (babies names, ages, etc...) My name is Kristine and I have one son Connor Levi and he is 10 weeks old.

2) How long have you been a SAHM? I am currently on maternity leave but will go back to work the first week of June. I am only working 2 days a week though.

3) What did you do before this wonderful new job? I am an accountant at an engineering firm

4) What are your priorities for each day? Where do you feel you need the most help with motivation in getting things done each day? My only priority right now is taking care of Connor and making sure that I get a shower everyday.

5) What do you hope to get out of this journal? I am hoping me meet lots of new friends.

Yes, it's been dead as a doornail 'round here!

Sorry I haven't been on much, girls. I know you all know what's going on and all that & how busy we've been here. And guess what? If you haven't already seen from my profile line, we sold our house!!!! It was only on the market for 2 weeks & we got 2 offers on it! It comes out of attorney review in 2 more days. :)

Here's a short list of things I MUST DO tomorrow and/or by the weekend!!!:

- Pick up Lexie's 2 yr. pictures tomorrow
- Think of which route I'm taking as far as pregnancy announcements are concerned to mail them out to family & friends...ie: make them myself, order them online, have personal cards made up on Shutterfly.com, etc. ???
(turns out my sister is due 13 days after me & we decided to mail announcements out to the family/friends on the same day so they will hopefully get each one of our pregnancy announcements at the same time.)
- Do Laundry!
- Buy my godson's gift tomorrow for his 3rd bday party on Sat. :blush1:

I hope to check in soon! :wavey: Again, I won't be on too, too much because now we have to start packing and stuff (closing will either be June 15th or the 30!!! )

Sorry Ladies, my laptop's connection to the internet was destroyed by a little person who is cruisin....
So, I have to go into "the hole" (the basement office) to use the desktop, and since it's still kind of chaotic in this room, I only make it to the internet during morning nap and then after Aiden goes to bed.

I'm busy sewing. I'm also waiting on fabric too. I have had a tremendous amount of support from a lot of people here, so they are keeping me busy. But, it's great, I'm enjoying it. I am doing something that I love a lot, and while any extra $$ just goes back to the costs right now, I'm preparing to also make a debut in cyberspace, and then there are two huge baby faires in the Cleveland/Akron area next year.
I definitely thank Sarah for her awesome revew! :hug99:

I also had my hair trimmed up because in July, I'm going short and donating all my long hair to Locks of Love.
I'm still keeping up with my exercising, and I'm down 25 total pounds since January 1st. :woo:

So, you could pretty much say that when I'm not interacting with Aiden, or chasing him around (he started pushing around the laundry basket yesterday and doing laps around the living room) I am busy exercising or sewing. It's great. Life is good. :rahrah:

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Oh, and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Andrea:OK, I hope you can get into the link. Here it is....

It's a 5 x 7 card and this is the front of the card. The caption on the bottom is in script and says "For my 2nd birthday, I received the best present . . . . "
http://www.shutterfly.com/cards/cover.jsp

inside the card: http://www.shutterfly.com/cards/card_preview.jsp

Just so you know we found out we were pregnant with # 2 a day before Alexia's 2nd birthday so we thought that would be fitting. :)

Let me know whatcha think! :)

My sister ordered cute ones from snapfish.com

On the front has a picture of her son's face and says something like "I'm being promoted...."then on the inside it says "to big brother on or about Dec. 13, 2004"

http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b4db26b3127ccebe713c3f037e0000001610
Right under it in script it says "For my 2nd bday I received the best present..."

when you open the card it says ...."that I'm going to be a BIG SISTER on November 30, 2004"

Love,
Alexia and Baby Daza

So we're expecting some real shockers from our family and friends when they receive both announcements the same day! :) When I talk to my sis I'll have her bring up her announcements at snapfish and I'll share with yous. Dawn why are you selling? Are you staying in the area and just looking for something bigger (or cheaper maybe?) or are you moving for a job? (just curious :blush1: )

Dawn
May 14th, 2004, 10:14 AM
Dawn why are you selling? Are you staying in the area and just looking for something bigger (or cheaper maybe?) or are you moving for a job? (just curious :blush1: )Yes, eventually looking for something bigger (we have a 2 bedroom now) where we don't share walls. We live in a condo type place now. Since the market is so hot, we wanted to take advantage and invest our sweet profit for about a year until we find something bigger. So for about a year, we may rent (a 2 bedroom) until we can save more $ towards a down payment. Even though the profit we'll be making will be a nice hefty one, it still won't be enough to put down for a 4 bedroom home that we want around here where our mortgage won't be through the roof!!! So a little sacrificing after we sell, but it should be worth it in the long run! Hoping to be in a bigger home once baby #2 is close to outgrowing it's bassinet.
We will be moving anywhere from Sayreville (this is the southest we'll go so James won't have a huge commute) to Parsippany/Par-Troy area and anywhere in between. Where we go temporarily for a year, we don't care, as long as it's in a decent area. :) Also, I don't want to feel rushed into buying the home that we will be settled in for a while as well...so waiting also helps in that aspect, besides saving more money for the downpay! :) We bought this place for real cheap when the market was low over 2 yrs. ago, now we can get almost 70% more for it which is nice! :)

I've been MIA for a while, since we've been staying at the ILs and their computer sucks. But they're gone this week, so I plugged my computer in on their kitchen table and should be on more often now. Plus, we're moving into our new house this coming FRIDAY!!! (We hope... our final walk-thru is on Wednesday, and we're praying everything is fine...).

Phil is in class all weekend (working on his Masters), so it's basically like not having a weekend. :( So, I'll post a list for myself on here, because I need to get back on the ball, and I might as well start right away.

To Do:
1. Finish addressing invites for the shower I'm giving for my friend Tanya. Mail them.
2. Find and mail a congratulations card to Bridget for her engagement. (Engagement gift?)
3. Plan meals and buy groceries for this week.
4. Return overdue library books.
5. Start thinking about something I could do at home to make some extra $$$, so that Katie can go to daycare a few hours a week. (Creative Memories or something like that? Or sewing or knitting? Or??? Hmmm... maybe alterations?)
6. Investigate allergy-control products for the new house - air purifiers, vacuums, etc.

That's enough for today. :)
