Is your child's school doing any type of holiday show? What is it like?

This year Addison goes to a public school but religion is part of the curriculum in all the schools. Their Christmas play is the story of Jesus' birth~ angels, wise men, baby Jesus and all. The reception kids are the angels. :) It just struck me that they probably wouldn't do that in a public US school, right? So I was curious as to what type of "show", if any, public schools do.

Well my kids go to Catholic school so the nativity play is inevitable :awink: However, the whole school isnt involved, the older kids don't do any sort of production, just the kindy (pre-school) kids. Harry is playing Joseph in the nativity play :)

Nothing here, either - they don't do that type of thing with the primary level kids, but the older kids can choose to do a program if they want.

Nothing for Josh in 3rd grade. The various grades have their concert/art shows at different times throughout the year and his is in April.

Austin has a preschool Christmas program on the 9th from 3-5. They sing Christmas songs and songs they have learned at school with movements and things like that. Then we have snacks and cookies.

Liam's school has a Christmas pageant on the 18th. I have no idea what it will be like, but since it's a Catholic school I'm sure the nativity will be a part of it somehow.

Aidan is in private K, and they are doing a Christmas around the world theme. They also asked the parents if there were traditions they wanted the class to include. Since there is one Jewish girl, Aidan is part of the "Israel" group. Hmmm. Don't expect that'll be Christmas per se!! They will also then all be doing a set of general Christmas songs.

I assume Colin's preschool is doing something too - probably just a small concert where they sing songs. Cols has yet to successfully sing at one. He sits there staring then sings they whole way home. :screwy:

Jackson has one next week actually. His class has 2 songs they are going to sing. The teachers sent the words home with him on Tuesday so we can practice at home. I'm very curious to see how this goes.

Kaleb has a Christmas band concert, Jacob has band and a choral one. I'm not sure if their songs will be religious, but I'm sure they won't be. Riley goes to a Christian preschool, and is in one for pre-K and then one for Parents Day Out. She actually has a speaking part for the second one!

Aubrey's preschool is doing Peter Pan. I can't imagine how 3 year olds are going to put on this performance. But they have a Wendy, Tinkerbell, etc. Aubrey is an Indian. She was upset because she wanted to be a princess. I still have to find a brown turtleneck for her costume.

Mason goes to a Catholic school and his "Christmas Spectacular" is Wednesday December 13th. The am class will be performing at 9:30 and his class will be performing at 1:00pm and then they are asking both am and pm classes to go again at 6:30pm.

All I know is they will be wearing a men's white dress shirt (preferably short sleeves) over their clothes and that their teacher is buying garland to make halos (haloes?). I asked Mason about it and they will be singing a song about Jesus (he doesn't appear to know all the words yet) because he tried to sing it and asked me to do the hand motions to remind him of the words. Since I don't know the song, that was difficult.
