View Full Version : Twins?

It is highly unlikely that I'm having twins. They don't really run in my family (I have two sets of second cousins who are twins on my dad's side)...and I've heard that they are passed through the maternal side. And...I don't think Clint has any twins in his family.
But I have been having constant dreams about twins...and I don't know why! And you know when you're waiting to find out if you're pregnant and all you hear/see is babies and pregnant women? Well I keep seeing and hearing about twins. It's driving me insane.
Has anyone else ever felt like that about twins? The likliehood of me having twins is so small that I'm not even considering it as a logical possibility. But I can't make the twin thoughts and stuff go away! I just wanted to know if I was the only crazy one who has felt like that in the beginning of their pregnancy... :dunno:

Candi - I could have written your post! I was positive I was having twins. Even at the sono, I swore they were going to move that wand and there would be another. I just KNEW it! But, there's only one there. I did not feel this way with Carter at all! But I just was so positive this time. So, you are definitely not the only one. My dad is a twin, so I was worried about that. I also have a really good friend with twins, so I think I had it on my brain! Now that you are obsessing about it, I bet it will just get worse until you find out for sure. I mean, how can you stop thinking about it? I just couldn't!

I *DID* have twins and before I found out it was twins, nothing about my thoughts/feelings/pregnancy was any different than with my son :dunno:

There was actually a night during this pregnancy that dh and I on the same night both dreamed that I delivered boy/girl twins in a church after 5 ultrasounds had showed us just one baby. There were so many similarities, it was creepy. We've now had like 10 ultrasounds of baby, we are pretty sure he is alone in there!

I am a twin and there is absolutely no family history on either my Mom or my Dad's side of twins. :) Identical twins are a total fluke (like me and my sister) and have absolutely nothing to do with family history.

Fraternal twins on the other hand tend to "run in families" as opposed to being "hereditary" and that is based on the idea that if your Mother let two or more eggs go at a time, then you are more likely to do that, than if your Mother only let one egg go at a time. Does that make sense?

When is your ultrasound? Pretty soon I'd imagine. Good luck. :)
