Ok, Nikita has been a little sick for 6 days now, on and off. Last Sunday he got a runny nose and was a little irritable, but no fever. All this week, he continues to have snotty nose and fever on an off. It's really low (99.2, 99.0), and one day he'll have it, the next it 97.4-97.6ish...When he does have the fever, i give him 1.5 ml of Tylenol.
**He sleeps ok, wakes up at night and I just feed him since he is not 100%(he's been sleeping through the night before).
**He plays ok, though gets much more irritated when I take things away from him (usually pens which he loves finding places)
**He eats mostly the same, maybe a bit less?
**just now, when i was putting him down for a nap, he was just not having it, even though he was so tired. He'd cry and cry and wanted to hug my neck and hold me the whole time....it took a while to put him down...and usually, i just put him down and walk out, and don't hear a peep...so I know he is not feeling well.

I have been feeling really cruddy all week. On Tue, I had a runny nose and felt like crap all day. I'd wake up in the middle of the night with a massive headache and feeling like I was running a fever-only I wasn't. I've felt like this most of the week, on and off.

So this makes me think it's some kind of a flu bug going around? Should I call his dr? We currently don't have insurance on him for another month (until he turns 1), so outside of worrying about my baby, i also don't want to get stuck with a ton of bills if it's just smth small....but at the same time, i don't want to gamble with his health, OF COURSE. Plus, the drs never seem to give you any earth-shatterting solutions (unless something IS wrong with him).

So what do you think?

I'm sorry you're both not feeling well. :hug99:

I'd probably stay home for now and just keep an eye on him. As long as his fever isn't super high and he's eating and drinking ok, there's not much the doctor can do anyway. They'd just tell you to make sure he's drinking enough and to keep him comfortable and to let it run its course.

Is he getting any teeth? Sometimes my boys would get like that with teething.

I hope you both feel better soon. :hug99:

I immediately thought of teeth. He's possibly teething.

Of course with all the wacky temps this weekend outside, I'm sure that hasn't helped. And if it makes you feel better (for lack of better words!), Riley's not feeling all that great today either. She's a bundle of snot. I have heard there's a bug going around. :dunno:

You could always call the doc and ask to talk to a nurse pract. They could always suggest you come in, but you don't have to. They might tell you to give him some meds.

Darcy, another reason I thought there might be a bug going around is because I was talking to a neighbor the other day, and she said she hasn't been feeling well and pretty much described my symptoms to me.

I think i will give the dr's office a call and see what they suggest. I'm just freaking out because he's NEVER been sick, in 11 months. He had a snotty nose back when he was like 2 ms old and have a little fever thing once, and it went away right after some tylenol... so for him to be sick like this (even if it seems minor) for 6 days is freaky for mama!

Nichole, that is exactly what i was thinking about the dr's. He is acting fine and the fever is so low, i figured they would just tell me to let it run its' course.. you just phrased me so much better than me! WTG!

Teeth is a possible thing, I guess..... He has 6 and hasn't cut any for a few weeks now...probably about a month..so maybe he's getting several at a time again?

I agree with Nichole, Lena. As long as he's eating and drinking and the fever stays low and can be broken by the Tylenol, then I wouldn't call the ped. :hug99:

:hug99: I agree with what the others have said. Just keep an eye on him... Take care of Mia's BF and give him a big hug and kiss from his future MIL!!!!!!

I thought teeth immediately as well. I wouldn't worry too too much, I know that is hard, but I would try tylenol and maybe the numbing gel on the gums and see what that does. If it is the upper teeth, that could be causing the runny nose, the sinuses are pretty much connected to the upper part of the mouth.

Sorry the little man is not feeling hot :hug99:

Even if it is a virus, there's nothing a doc can do. I know he's your first and you're worried, but welcome to cold & flu season. He's putting everything in his mouth, touching everything and anything, on the floor... you get the gist.
Fever is the body's way of fighting infection, so its not a bad thing, as long as its low like that. Just let the bug ride its course. Use a humidifier and see if that helps some :dunno:

Thank you, ladies...I'm mostly positive now it's teeth. We had a sleepless night last night. He was up from 1:30 to 4... and no fever, just wanted to nurse and be with mama, and as soon as he went in the crib, the crying started..... I gave him some teething tablets and probably breaking out baby orajel today.

Well, I think I'm a little late with my reply, but I've just read your post.
How are you and Nikita now?
Was it a virus or just teething?
There was smth like you had, with our Regina & me 3 weeks ago. It started with running nose for 2 days, then her t became 38,5. For 3 days we couldn't do anything with it, so we had to give her antibiotic Ospamox for 5 days. & in 2 or 3 days exactly the same symptoms appeared with me: 2 days with running nose, then high temperature.
And we still don't know what virus it was
