What things did your baby first start self-feeding?

Anya is 9 1/2 months old. No teeth yet. She self-feeds Cheerios and pea-sized avocado chunks. What else can I give her? I'm of course scared of her choking - as long as the size is small (pea-sized maybe?) and she doesn't stuff too much in her mouth at a time, what do I need to be concerned with?

Did a search on self-feeding and found a few old threads... and I put this in the wrong area. Ah well.

More I'm concerned about the size of things. Is pea-sized a good rule of thumb?
