What are your Top 5 random bits of information (trivia) that you don't have enough opportunities to share?

I can only think of one, and I have no proof. But I've always heard that there are more churches per capita in Las Vegas than any other city in the U.S.

Wait! Here in these parts, it's said that Tulsa has the second largest gay population next to San Francisco.

Again - I have no idea if those factoids are true, but I never get the opportunity to share them. So there you go.

1. Donuts make up only 15% of Dunkin' Donuts profits! (just read that the other night, I was blown away)

2. Your foot is the same length as your arm from elbow to wrist

3. There are no words that rhyme with "orange"

1. You have a better chance of survivng a plane crash if you are wearing lace up shoes because they are less likely to fly off your feet.

2. Chicago has the highest Polish population outside Warsaw.

3. White cats with blue eyes are often deaf

Can't think of any others at the moment. i know they are rattling around in my brain, though.

Anne will appreciate this (or she already knows):

George Clooney was in "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes".

Okay, that's 3. I need two more.

1. There are also no words that rhyme with "month," Anne. :)

2. Trucks get the best gas mileage if they have one of those mesh tailgates.

I'll try to think of more.

Sheila, it is so weird. Yesterday on the way home from school, I thought of starting a thread like this.

* a pig orgasms for 30 minutes

Stuff like this reminds me of those bathroom readers. I worked on a book that had a bunch of little-known facts in them, but I can only remember a few.

Anne and Stacey--there are no words that rhyme with purple either. :)

* No piece of square paper can be folded more than 7 times
* The only 15-letter word that can be spelled without repeating a letter is uncopyrightable
* Cat urine glows under a black light

That's all I can think of right now.

Did you read this somewhere, or basing it on personal experience? :lol2:

I'm sure when Deb chimes in here, she can add some fascinating factoids from her latest sanitary pad sticker reading.

Hey! I knew the cat urine one!!! :giggle:
Well, I also knew the shoe/airplane thing, but only b/c sheila freaked me out w/ that piece of info the first time I met her

Anne - if I based it on personal experience, I think it'd be a bit higher  Nope..I read that somewhere.

Isn't it funny...you can retain useless bits o' info but when it comes to school, some of us just can't retain it like that

I know I've got lots, but they're alluding me right now. The only one I can think of is that Perth is the 2nd windiest city after Chicago.

The only one I can think of right now I just learned at work.

Kids feet grow an average of 4 sizes a year!

I clearly have nothing better to do this morning because I'm actually looking up random trivia for new things to add. I have no idea if these are actually true.

*The state with the longest coastline in the US is Michigan.

*Nutmeg is extremely poisonous if injected intraveinously. (wasn't something like this in a Jodi Picoult book? It sounds really familiar. )

*If you toss a penny 10000 times, it will not be heads 5000 times, but more like 4950. The heads picture weighs more, so it ends up on the bottom.

*Tigers have striped skin, not just striped fur.

*45% of dollar bills you'll ever own have been in a stripper's g-string.

So do zebras.

*Tigers have striped skin, not just striped fur.

And in a related animal vein, polar bears are smart enough to cover their black noses when hunting so that they blend in with their white snowy surroundings.

All orange cats are male.

All calico cats are female.

Of Canadian cities, Victoria BC has the fewest lightning strikes per year and Windsor ON has the most.
