If you went into labor or were induced, what did you the night before/day of, etc.

The night before I went into labor with Aaron I fell asleep watching the end of "Bring it On". I was sleeping on the sofa downstairs. I woke up to go to the bathroom around 3:30 and when I went to lay back down I noticed a huge bug up on the ceiling. So I somehow managed to get up on the arm of the sofa with a newspaper and killed it. :shuffle:
Next thing I know I started feeling kind of funny and 8 hours later Aaron was born. :)

With Riley, we were taking out Christmas decorations. Phil was getting them out of the crawl space under the stairs, and I kept complaining about how I had to pee again, for the third time in 15 minutes. Phil said that maybe I should call the doctor to see if my water broke. Turns out it did, and off we went to the hospital. I was ticked because I was just getting ready to have some lunch (It was around noon.)
With Jeremy, I was induced, so nothing exciting other than dropping Riley off at my parents', and Phil had to stop at McD's for some breakfast for him.

I went to the bar and drank a beer. Yes, I got lots of snotty looks from other patrons but I didn't care. I was determined to be relaxed enough to will my body into labor. Didn't work, I was induced. We called our friends to come stay with Dylan and we went off to the hospital.

Decided for sure on the middle names for the baby, went to bed telling the baby "You can arrive any time" and then... umm... :sex: Early labor started probably 3 or 4 AM, and water broke at 6 AM.

 I don't remember. Two nights before we went out for a really nice 3 course dinner at our favorite French bistro. God, I miss that little restaurant in Houston!

Good for you, Becky!
Lynn...that is odd
With Aidan, the first time I went into labor (32 wks), I was at work at my desk. I was not feeling great and was having regular contrax and called my OB who asked me to come in. I did and was stuck on mag sulfate and bedrest for a week before I was sent home on bedrest. On my way to the hospital, I could NOT get a hold of Chris, so I called one of his coworkers, who had to go to the gym and track him down!
I went back to work at 37 weeks on a Monday. On Wednesday at 3am I woke up to pee and as soon as I stepped foot in the bathroom, my water exploded all over the floor
With the twins, I found out I was in labor at 26 weeks at a regular OB appt. I was immediately admitted and again, couldnt reach my husband (for 6 hours, this time!!) I was in labor on again and off again for 4 weeks (and on & off loads of drugs) and finally, when my contrax resumed at 30 weeks, they did a c-section.

I'm glad your water waited to break in the bathroom Karri and not on the hardwood or carpet.

Rayna - it was the day before my due date. I was sitting on the couch with my big belly and bloated cankles bitching to my husband for all it was worth about how this baby was never going to come out and that I was pissed. Then I was bitching about the fact that, since it was the day before my due date, that the baby would put me into labor at midnight just to mess with me. Only I didn't say it quite that nice.
Cue to 11:45pm. Yes. I was in labor. I believe this will be indicative of Rayna's personality. :lol2:
For Harper I had a scheduled induction. (Although I didn't really need it b/c I went into labor all by myself) Two weeks early. I found out the day before since she was already measuring 8 lbs. So we were running around getting stuff done. And I was worrying myself sick about all the shit that I knew was going to happen to me the next day. Trying not to bitch slap my husband who was all giddy and driving me nuts.

With Jackson, I went out to lunch with a couple of friends and just felt a little off. I ate a little baked potato soup, but just wasn't very hungry. Then I went home to nap (ah, the days when I could do that with no rugrats to interrupt! ) and the contractions started, but they were irregular. As the day progressed, they would get more regular then go irregular again. I ended up finally hitting "true" labor around 1 or 2 am and just kept track by myself as Brendon slept. I woke him up around 4 and we laid there trying to decide if he should go in to work. About 20 minutes later, my body made the decision for us and we headed for the hospital! (after I showered and put my makeup on! :hehe: )
With Gav, I kept thinking I was in labor the whole weekend before he was born. We hung out at my parents' house because they live close to the hospital and because they were going to be watching Jackson. We did a lot of walking around the block there. Every time we drive up the streets I walked, I flash back to that frustration. We ended up going home with me still pregnant, but we left Jackson with them just in case. Once again, the contractions kicked in during the night. He didn't arrive as quickly though, because he had a ginormous melon.

We had just put Sarah's baby swing together and finished setting up her room. We packed the hospital bag and I went to bed (DH stayed up playing a video game). That was around 10. I woke up to pee at midnight and DH hadn't come to bed yet. I went down to the family room to see if he'd fallen asleep on the couch. He hadn't, and I told him I was heading back to bed and he shouldn't stay up so late in case I got into labor in the middle of the night. I went back up to bed, rolled to my side, and WOOOSH!!!! There went my water.

I was working and went for one of my prenatal check ups and that is when the doctor told me to go to the hospital that they were going to induce me the next morning.

With Tylor:
Friday I went to school and then went to the Senior Class picinic at a lake. I got really sunburned. That night Dan and I went to the High school play were a boy (Todd Mclaughlin for you Kara) sat behind me and bounced his knee to the music. I felt strange but nothing to bad (I was one day late). I slept on the couch. Saturday around 9am Dan called and said he was going to his grandpa's to work on his truck. I told him not to go. He said why. I said I was in the bathoom peeing but I couldn't stop it  My water had broke. I hat Tylor 9 hours later!
Alyssa:
I went in for a doctors appointment that monday and my preeclampsia was getting pretty bad. I had Toximia with Tylor) and he sent me over to Labor and Delivery because my BP was 142/90. He came in 3 hours later and it was still the same. He said he wanted to induce (it was 3 in the afternoon) It was still 36weeks 6 days and I didn't have things ready. I asked if I could go home first and get Tylor situated (bags packed for school the rest of the week and such). The doctor let me go as long as I promised to be back by 4:30. We were back, Got cervidill (I can't spell) and then pitt the next morning and at 2:07 tuesday she was born.

With Janelle I was taking a bath and my water broke as I was getting out of the bathtub...about 60 hours later (and 50 hours of that in active labour, then 6 hours of it pushing) she was born.
With Kincaid, god, I don't know, I think I "went into labour" like 6 times with him...they used drugs to stop it every time. The day he was born I started bleeding a LOT and they decided at the hospital that they had no clue why I was bleeding but I was losing too much blood and I was 39 weeks so they gave me 6 hours of antibiotics (strep b positive) and then broke my water...it was about 5 minutes from my water breaking to the first contraction, and then he was born 10 minutes after that, I pushed for less than 10 seconds (they were counting to 10...and didn't get that far)... I'm totally terrified of my water breaking at home with #3 and not making it to the hospital!

Technically, I never went into labor but my water broke. I was sitting on the couch, as I had been for the previous 6 weeks. I happened to be watching Rock Star: Supernova at the time. I didn't believe that my water actually broke (4 weeks early) so I went to bed that night and woke up at 2am in a puddle. We went to the hospital at 3am and I had a c-section at 8am that morning.

Mason: Jan 1st we went to see the first Harry Potter movie at the matinee. Then we stopped for buffalo wings for dinner. On Jan 2nd I spotted a weeee bit on the floor, called the Doc and she said come in that day instead of the 3rd for my reg. appt. Sat at home, watched Best in Show, goofed around on the computer. Thought I might be in labour but didn't know. The Doc said I was and she'd meet me at the hospital later that night. Got to the hospital at 8:30pm and he was born at 12:31am.
Graham: July 11th I was lying in bed trying to go to sleep fearing the induction the next morning. At 11:47pm I had a massive pain. Then Mason came in and was bugging me for milk while I was watching the clock. It was less than 5 minutes later I had another one. I went to get the milk and yelled at Patrick to come upstairs NOW! He thought I was mad because Mason woke me up. I told him to call his Mom RIGHT NOW and tell her to hurry. (Otherwise she'd be putting on all her makeup in the middle of the night to come over) She got to our house around 12:20am; we got to the hospital at about 12:35am. I was 10cm when I got there and then they made me wait a half hour and not push until they could find the doctor. When he got there the newbie nurse broke the water under his supervision and poof! There he was at 01:06am. I looked at the clock. :) The official time is 01:08am because that's when they did the Apgars. He was born the day I was to be induced. :)

With Jackson I was sleeping. I had felt really weird the whole day before, but I was only 35 weeks so I didn't think I was about to go into labor. I went out to dinner with a friend and really couldn't eat my dinner. Anyway...I went to bed early after dinner and I woke up around 6am b/c I felt a tiny little gush. I thought I had peed my pants so I go up to go to the bathroom, and there was a big gush that I couldn't stop. I still didn't believe it was my water breaking, but Jackson was born about 8 hours later.
With Anna I was on here trying to figure out if I was really in labor. I'd been having contractions for about 3 weeks, so I didn't really believe I was in labor, and I didn't want to to to L&D again only to come home with no baby. Finally a little after 11:30pm we decided to go to the hospital and Anna was born at 12:56...

I think I've blocked the girls'. I started labor in the middle of the night and I guess the previous days were uneventful!
I can remember with Brady because he was born the day after Thanksgiving. :pilgrimea We had dinner at a restaurant with my mom's side of the family and dessert at my brother's house. A few hours later I went into labor. I remember the nurse asking me what foods I'd eaten recently.

With Maggie, I worked during the day, then I came home, had a bath and a glass of wine. The next day, I went to the dr where they did a non-stress test and was sent to the hospital to be induced.
With Katie, the morning she was born, I went with my mom and Maggie to Target. I remember when we were walking from the store, my mom kept handing Maggie to me so I could carry her. It hurt to carry her, so I'd put her down, then my mom would pick her up again and hand her to me. I think it took doing this about 4 times before I snapped at her a little to let her walk.
We had lunch at Chik Fil A where I know I had Cole Slaw. I don't know what else. I went into labor while surfing OUAL, and maybe making some admin changes (since it was new). My mom was at the computer next to me and I remember trying to hide my searches for how to tell if you are in labor.

Emma: went out to dinner with DH and a friend of ours, and had a nice big Cobb salad. :secret: and probably some wine, Becky. :) I woke up at 4 am with contractions, and finally headed to the hospital around 9 am.
Krishan: after having false labor for 2 weeks (and 2 trips to L&D), I finally was scheduled to be induced on a Monday afternoon. I was just about to put my coat on to go to my 1:30 PM appt. to have the gel inserted, when the contrax came on like a ton of bricks. I called my OB, told him I'd be a little early for my appt, and Krishan was born 2 hrs. later. :)

With Aiden they were worried he was going to be too big because of my GD, so at 38 weeks I was induced, we had just settled on our new house that day and I picked up the keys and went to scope it all out. We locked up, went out to dinner and went into hospital. It was a long process I didn't have Aiden till the next night at 10:45pm.
With Riley I was 39.5 weeks pregnant, they were worried again with the GD, and wanted to give me a C-section. I was scheduled for the next morning but not happy about it. We had friends over because it was semi final time for the football and we were watching that game, I decided I wanted to try and have him naturally and I had been having contractions on and off all week so thought I would try castor oil. I drank down about 3/4 of a bottle (NASTY :errr: ) and about 30 minutes later I had a sudden urge to poop. I spent the next 45 minutes moaning and groaning my regrets in the bathroom with everyone laughing at me! NICE..:foottap: I came out of that bathroom in labour! I spent the rest of our evening contracting and telling Tony to slow down with the drinking because I was in labour. He of course did not believe me. He then proceeding in begging me to drive his brother to the train station because I was the only sober person! I did it but had to keep pulling over for contractions. We went to bed around midnight with me telling Tony I was in labour but his response being "Just because there are people here doesn't mean it's labour" (as if I was faking it!) Well I showed him by 2am and with only about 1 1/2 hours sleep I woke up with huge contractions and went to the toilet and lost my plug. I made him get up, dropped off Aiden at my parents around 3am and went into hospital I was just over 3cm's. He was so regretful for not getting more sleep, and actually got a fold up bed from the nurses and slept for about 2 hours while I laboured  I had Riley around 2pm
With Jacob it was our anniversary on the 2nd Sept. (Friday night) I was 38 weeks pregnant. We went out and had a fancy dinner, it was sooooo good. I got home and threw the whole thing up. What a waste of an expensive dinner! I had a few random contractions on and off, but nothing major and went to bed. Woke up the next morning and was disappointed I wasn't in labour. I spent the day cleaning the house and doing lapse down at the park with Aiden and Riley. Got back home and still nothing. I felt a bit sick that night and had a few random contractions but nothing to write home about. I got woken up at 1am Sunday morning (fathers day) by a massive contraction. I came out into the lounge room leaving tony to sleep because I didn't want a repeat of last time and have him sleeping at the hospital. I came onto OUAL and speculated my contractions on here. I have a great thread on here of that labour and I still love to go back and read it every now and again. I pretty much stayed on OUAL and on and off napping (which didn't work) till about 6am when I finally woke up Tony and went to the hospital. I had Jacob at midday.
Oy, lots of kids!

I never went into labour on my own.
Emma: I was nearly 2 weeks late so I was induced. The afternoon before we went for my doctor's appointment and then went to a Greek restaurant for dinner. I can't remember what I did when we got home.
Christine: I better remember this one. I had a planned c-section. We had dinner at Swiss Chalet (chicken place) and then took Emma to my brother/SIL's place. There we settled her to bed and chatted a bit before heading home. Once I got home, I packed some last minute things before going to bed,

With Cass I was asleep when my water broke, I went to the hospital, even though the nurse said because my due date was in a month "I couldn't possibly be in labour" :loser: I was induced
Paige- dh and I went to the Chiroprachtor that morning, I came home to get my UB Christmas cards( exchange) went to the bathroom and noticed spotting..called my doc and they told me to come into L&D to get a check up, dh and I thought it was nothing..went to visit my sister for a bit then went to the hospital..as soon as dh hit the speed bump on the underground parking ramp my water broke  I again was induced.

Alex arrived at 35w5d. :)
At about 10am at 35w4d, I was sitting at my desk at work and I started feeling these cramps that would come and go. I finally figured out that they felt like AF cramps - ouch! My lower back was also killing me every time I stood up to walk.
After a couple of hours of this, I called my midwife because they weren't going away. Because I was so early, she suggested I just keep track of when the "cramps" would come and how long they lasted. I still have the little scrap of paper I wrote the times on. :)
As the day wore on....so did the "cramps" and I was in complete denial that anything significant was going on. We had a birthing class that night, and Paul came to my work to pick me up for it. We met friends for dinner (yummy pizza) and then went to class. During class, they really picked up and I was wincing through them. After class, we met my midwife at the birth center. She had one look at my face during a "cramp" and informed me that I was having contractions! :faint:
I stayed at the birth center so my midwife could make a decision as to sending me home or sending me to a hospital. A couple of hours after I arrived, I started getting woken up by my contractions and :puke:, so she decided that this baby was on its way! Alex was born at 8:24pm the next night. :)

With Matthew I was 40 weeks, 4 days and it was a Friday. It was my last day of work before being induced the following Monday. I went to eat lunch with a friend (Mexican food) and kept having to go to the bathroom. I remember thinking wow, my bladder is really squished! We got back from lunch and I was going to the bathroom every few minutes. I finally called my OB and he said to go ahead and come into the hospital to get checked. I called Paul and told him to meet me at home and then off we went. My water had broken and it was trickling. They started me on pitocin and Matthew was born at 10:55pm :)
I was induced with Sara at 40 weeks, 3 days. My BP was high and she was overdue anyway. The pitocin took forever to work with her though. I spent all day watching the pope election  before she was born at 5:21pm.

I was induced all 3 times.
With Emily, my Mum was here visiting and waiting for the birth. I was 11 days overdue and we felt bad about my mum just sitting around the house so the day before the induction we went out for the day, we took her to some markets and an Irish pub for lunch. I remember getting some cash from the ATM at the pub and a drunk guy said something like "when are you going to get that thing out of you?" I remember waking up really early the next morning and getting up and having breakfast at like 4am.
With Harry, I don't really remember anything. I was induced again, this time 2 days before his due date. My mum was visiting again, this time to look after Emily.
With Sam, I spent the day before frantically trying to find a babysitter. We had friends lined up to watch E & H when I went to hospital, but the day my induction was scheduled was the one day that they couldn't do it  I spent most of that day in tears, I was so stressed  , but it worked out in the end (another friend watched them in the morning till the original babysitter could make it) I woke up around 1am on the morning of the induction having contractions. By the time I got to the hospital at 7am they were about 4 minutes apart. The dr broke my water and the contractions started coming thick and fast. I think if I hadn't been induced he still would have been born that day or the next.

The day before I went into labor, I cleaned out our filing cabinet and reorganized it. Went to bed that night and woke up at my normal 7AM (at the time) and realized I was having contractions every 5 minutes on the dot!

I was induced, so I spent the day packing and repacking my bag  Then DH went a completely bassackwards way to the hospital. I have no idea if he got stressed or what, he just took a really LONG way to get there. Of course I was yelling the whole way (even though I wasn't in labor).
I got cervadil that night and started to contract at 1a.m. or so. They were coming pretty hard around 8a.m. and I BEGGED for an epidural. Got one and then Katie decided she didn't want to come out (she was at -2 station and moved back in). So they had to get her. After 13 hours of labor I had a c-section.

With Anna, I went out for Chinese food with Eric and my grandma the night before she was born. Eric and I had a quiet evening from what I remember. I think he played on the computer, and I scrapbooked. I woke up at 8:00 the next morning with my first contraction. We went to the mall to pick up a few last minute things and then watched the superbowl pregame shows. Anna was born right around the time of TB's second field goal.
With Jacob, I woke up at 3:30 a.m. the day before he was born with contractions. I got up at 5:30 but they petered out by 9:00 or so. I spent the day in prodomal labour with sporadic contractions. Eric took the day off, so we spent our last day as a family of 3. We went to the park in the morning and then napped in the afternoon. We had Chinese food for dinner and then the contractions picked up again. J was born early the next morning.

Nathaniel: I operated all day on my due date. I went home and I was very depressed because I was still pregnant. Tom cooked a nice dinner (lamb and a little bit of red wine!). I went to bed early because I was exhausted. Around midnight I woke up because I felt like I had to pee. I also felt a little crampy - sort of like AF. After I finished peeing, a little bit of water leaked out. I wasn't sure if it was just more pee or my water had broken. I walked around a bit and it seemed like I was leaking some more water. I waited a little longer and then decided this was the "real deal." I packed my last minute things and called my ob. Around this time Tom woke up and wanted to know what was happening. When I told him we were having a baby he was very excited. I then called my mom (she was going to watch our dog) and my junior resident. We went to the hospital and many hours later (18, to be precise) I had a c section.
Jessica: I went to the hopsital on Sunday evening for bloodwork. Then I went home. Monday morning we went to the hospital and got checked in. They did my c section. End of story!

I had an OB appointment the day before Caroline was born and he took me out of work because I was retaining so much fluid in my feet and legs that I could hardly walk. He told me to take it easy for the next "three weeks" (she wasn't due until 12/28) and he would see me at my next appointment. DH and I had Arby's for lunch that day and spent the rest of the day relaxing. I actually sent DH to interview a pediatrician ALONE because I was feeling pukey! :lol2: We went to bed around 11pm and I tossed and turned for about an hour because I just couldn't get comfortable. So I was on the sofa alternating between dozing and watching old movies when I suddenly sat up at 3am because I actually heard my water break. I ran to the bathroom, hollered for DH, and we were at the hospital in 45 minutes and Caroline was born 4 hours later!

I only went into labor with Caroline... the other 2 were planned sections... with Caroline, we had spent the day at the beach, then we went out to dinner at our favorite restaurant... I had contractions that whole day and lost my (ew) mucous plug over the course of the day... we rented Black Hawk Down and I was too tired to watch it... Lee watched it and I slept on and off until about 2 am when we decided to go to the hospital... I was 4 cm dilated when we got there, fully dilated by noon... pushed for 2 hours... no action whatsoever by stubborn miss Caroline! So, she was delivered via C-section at 2:06 in the afternoon.

I worked the day my water broke. I thought I was having contractions and a friend told me to walk on over to her house after I got off work and she would time them while we talked. I had not stepped off the curb to go over and my water broke. I went back inside and called the hospital and they told me to come in. I tried giving my friend a call but her line was busy. I think it was about 3 hours later she found out. They induced the next morning when nothing was going on, and 26 hours after my water broke, the doctor realized Emma was breech and I ended up having a c-section 4 hours after that.

Madelynn: I remember that I was tired the whole day. I had an OB appointment that day and remember that I had lost 2 lbs and thought that was weird. I asked my dr about induction because of my GD and she said she wouldn't do it until 40 weeks. It was Valentine's Day. Travis had just got home from work and was taking out chicken to make for dinner and I was talking on the phone with my friend Kris. I thought someone was on the other line, so I hung up with her and no one was there. I stood up to hang the phone up and my water broke! I was shocked since I was only 36 weeks and some odd days. We went off to the hospital and 12 hours later she was born. :)
Ava: I had an OB appointment that day too. The dr told me that at my last u/s she was transverse and that if she didn't turn by my next ultrasound we were going to schedule a c/s. I was not happy. :( They tried doing a NST there in their office, but couldn't get her heartbeat to stay on the monitor, so they sent me over to the hospital where I sat uncomfortably for over an hour. Madelynn was freaking out because when they moved the bed up or down she was scared. I went home and hung out all day. My mom called me that night late, around 8 and I was telling her that my back had been hurting all day and she thought maybe I was in labor. I called the hospital to see what I should do, since I thought I was going to have to have a c/s. They told me to come in. We went and dropped Madelynn off at Travis' ex-aunt Becky's house and I started bawling on the way to the hospital because I felt like I hadn't spent enough time with her that day. Once we got to the hospital I told the nurses what my dr had said so about 4 of them tried to feel and see if her head was down and couldn't, so they did an xray and she was! They let me walk the halls all night and my contractions kept getting worse, but I wasn't dialating. My dr. came in that morning and checked and I was a 4. He decided to break my water at 7:50 and Ava came rushing out so fast at 8:48 that the nurse delivered her.
