Okay, how completely RANDOM is this:
I opened up a fresh packet of pads (sanitary napkins) and removed the paper strip that is over the sticky part and realised that it had writing on it, I go to look and see what the writing said and I just sat there in bewilderment!
It has little odd facts written all the way down the paper. Here is some of the things it said:
Odd Spot #317
There are 34 bathrooms in the White House
Odd Spot # 363
The largest member of the cat family is the male lion weighing 240kgs
Odd Spot #206
An eggshell has nearly 8000 pores that allow oxygen to flow in and carbon dioxide to flow out, allowing the chick to breathe
HOW RANDOM IS THAT!! not only is it fricken weird it's on the strip of a sanitary pad, but who the hell was behind this brilliant marketing? and what exactly did they want us to do with it!?
Knock Knock Knock, Hey girlfriend in the stall next door did you know that researchers claim that light green as a colour is effective in relieving the feeling of homesickness! My sanitary paper strip told me that! what does yours say?
 How fricken weird!
Where else have you seen a weird gimick or advertisement?
gulp!
November 5th, 2006, 08:07 PM
:rotflmao: OMG, Deb! What a ridiculous marketing campaign!!
Girlo
November 5th, 2006, 08:22 PM
I agree, Deb!!! How many women do you think actually take the time to look closely at their pad before going on their way to see if it says anything??? Well....besides you, of course. :giggle:
How weird......the pad, not you. :hug99:

Umm, me :shuffle: I always read those things
The White House has 34 bathrooms?? :faint: I wouldn't want to be the sucker that has to clean those!

November 5th, 2006, 09:02 PM
That's funny! I remember hearing about tampons that had little factoids on the wrappers, too. I think they were called Ditties? I just don't have the spare time in the loo to read my sanitary supplies these days. I'm happy to have even a quiet minute to myself in there!

 OK, that's so random and hilarious. Nice to know that you're learning something, though.

I think that's a little weird, too. There are products where that sort of thing is funny and cute (say Snapple lids or Bazooka bubble gum) and products where it's just odd (say sanitary napkins or Tucks pads, for example).

A couple of years at least!
Okay well in my defense for the last few years I have been pregnant and BF, so I have only just now started a normal cycle where I require these things! :lol2:
Amanda: That was my thought too, I have seen the questions on lolly wrappers, questions in the lid of a beer bottle, but a sanitary napkin????? RANDOM!

November 5th, 2006, 11:16 PM
LMAO! OH MY! Deb, you have such a way with words!
Ummm.....OK, I'm in agreement. This is just plain weird! What brand of pads are these?
Hilary
November 6th, 2006, 12:06 AM
kotex pads have tips for what to do during your period. I always thought they were annoying.
MrsPeacefrog
November 6th, 2006, 01:11 AM
Hilary, annoying but makes WAY more sense than weird facts! :lol2:
Brandi: The brand is Libra
MrsPeacefrog
November 6th, 2006, 04:06 AM
Oh but wait:
did you know that Emus and Kangaroos cannot walk backwards or that the average woman dreams more than the average man. Did you also know that candles burn slowly and evenly with little wax drippings if placed in the freezer for an hour before using.
I leave the bathroom smarter than I was walking in http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15/15_9_9v.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxdm824YYAU)
Hilary

That's a neat fact about the candles. I might have to try that.
MrsPeacefrog
November 6th, 2006, 04:44 AM
Oh shit, the wealth of knowledge is spreading! :giggle: Thanks Libra Goodnights!
Hilary
November 6th, 2006, 04:54 AM
:giggle:
(seriously, we have a candle holder type thingy in the fireplace and they are all burning unevenly, that would help! )
MrsPeacefrog
November 6th, 2006, 05:04 AM
You know, I might try it too. Or not. Maybe
Cami
November 6th, 2006, 05:07 AM
Maybe they think you will rush through the box faster (and hence use more) if they contain critical facts like these!!
I did know about the candle thing. And I'm  that they keep facts about the US government on product produced for Australia.

November 6th, 2006, 05:15 AM
I am having soooo much fun with the Libra facts
MrsPeacefrog
November 6th, 2006, 05:17 AM
Cami, we are a very worldly country! we are 100% aware that there is more to life than our own country :giggle:
Did I just say that out loud! :lol2:
stass
November 6th, 2006, 07:19 AM
We don't have libra brand. Plus I don't use pads. :nono:
I like that Dove candies have inspirational sayings. Like "Smile, people will think you are up to something."
MrsPeacefrog

I am surprised it took 27 posts for someone to comment on the pad thing! :lol2: I wish I didn't have to, but I just can't use tampons. Let's go totally off topic here  I am just too paranoid that they won't work. So stupid I know, but I just can't bring myself to do it!
Jayne
November 6th, 2006, 09:42 AM
I hated pad's and was so happy when I started using tampons
THat is way to funny about the sayings though. I always see stupid directions and such but never think more of them.
Barb
November 6th, 2006, 09:42 AM
Deb! I've been thinking about that all along as I read this. I'm also not a tampon person. Something I'm sure ya'll wanted to know about me.

So, is that where you're spending your free time now? Reading obscure facts on sanitary napkin packages? Did you open them all up and expose them to unsanitary conditions so now they are unsanitary napkins? :lol2:
OT: Where did you find the smiley of me when I was 10?
Nichole
November 6th, 2006, 11:17 AM
Ew, pads. I was so happy to be done with those after the yucky post partum stuff. :dead:
schwanda
November 6th, 2006, 12:17 PM
I'm not a big fan of pads, either. I had an RE who was convinced that tampons can cause endometriosis and was shocked that I used tampons. I told him that he should try to be scrubbed on a 10 hour cause wearing only a pad and then I'd try it!

Because it started as one. :giggle:
Sandy

I am changing the direction of this oh so appealing thread. :lol2:
Lift your right foot.
Move it in a clockwise direction.
Using your right hand, in a counterclockwise direction, draw a circle in the air.
Your right foot will automatically start going in a counterclockwise direction.

Jimmy Buffet - I think it's called "Grapefruit Juicyfruit"
Nichole
November 6th, 2006, 06:51 PM
Ah, I see. I'm not familiar with that song. But it's making my mouth water for some Juicyfruit gum. Mm, those first 3-4 chews... :lick:

I love Jimmy Buffet. Songs about margaritas, cheeseburgers, gum and getting drunk and screwing.
Barb
November 6th, 2006, 06:56 PM
Here are the lyrics:
Grapefruit
A bathin' suit
Chew a little Juicy Fruit
Wash away the night
Drive in
You guzzle gin
Commit a little mortal sin
It's good for the soul
Bridge:
And oh it gets so damn lonely
When you're on a plane alone
And if I had the money, honey
I'd strap you in beside me
And never ever leave you
Leave you at home all alone and cryin'
Ten speed
No need
My pickup gets me where I please
Chuggin' down the street
But I'll be leavin'
In a little while
So close your eyes and I'll
I'll be back real soon
Spoken:
"Ah, take it Reefers"
"Ladies choice, Everybody dance"
"Here we go"
Bridge:
Yes and if I had that money, honey
I'd strap you in beside me (in your strapless)
And never ever leave you
Leave you at home all alone and cryin'
Grapefruit
A bathin' suit
You chew a little Juicy Fruit
Wash away the night
Yeah you chew a little Juicy Fruit
It's good for ya soul

Cami: I actually had a bit of an embarrassing incident where they didn't work as well as they should of due to a stupidly heavy flow and no bathrooms around  Hence my fear of them!
Sandy: Thank you for sending me crazy and causing me to start yelling at my foot to go clockwise when I tell it to! I am a control freak and could not handle it! :lol2:
Bev: No, they are all still sterile and in their packaging! I am definatley able to control myself! OH and I got that nerd smilie of you when you were 10 from your website bevs-still-a-nerd.com (http://www.bevs-still-a-nerd.com/)
Okay lessons I have learned today:
Embryos of tiger sharks fight each other while in their mother's womb, the survivor being the baby shark that is born.
A fear of dying laughing is called cherophobia (I think I have this fear  )
Snails have teeth
The gastric juices of a snake can digest bones and teeth, but no fur of hair.
The average person spends 2 weeks of their life waiting for a traffic light to change
Aren't you all glad I stayed sanitized today!
Darcy
November 6th, 2006, 08:18 PM
Geez, Deb! How many did you use today? Or are they all on the same one?
Regardless, thanks for all the insight. :)

Well I hate to break to the news to everyone but that time of the month is over and you will all have to wait another month before finding out any more interesting facts :giggle:
