What time does it get dark where you live? Not the "official" sunset, but when do you notice that it looks dark out?

London: 4:30 pm. It's nearly 5 now and almost pitch black.

It's dark by 6:00 here.

One reason I don't like this time of year - too much darkness. :(

It's totally dark here by 5:45. That means my entire drive home with the kids is in the dark. Bleah.

About 5:30 I am noticing.

 I can ditto this since we live 15 minutes from one another! We were driving to a friends the other night and before we left town I wanted to be sure I knew where I was taking Tylor to a party later that night. It was 5:15..I thought I had plenty of time but the it was so dark it was hardly worth it!

Nadine, that is interesting... I wouldn't have thought sunset was so early where you are! You taught me something today. :)

Cami - we are 2 hours ahead of you I think. And we have DST on already.
For us the time the sun sets is very important since that is when the new day starts, ie Shabbat and holidays start then. That's why I know for sure - I have to know when Shabbat starts (everything has to be ready and from then onwards certain activities are forbidden). :)
The differences between summer and winter are quite extreme. In summer sunset can be around 7:30 pm (that is the latest I think).

LOL, I was going to say 5:45 but if Kara and Jayne say it's 5:30 for them, it must be earlier than that for me as they're about an hour west of me! :)

 I am sure it is roughly the same for you. That hour doesn't make that much of a difference. What is strange is that last week we had a gloom week. Lots of :raincloud and such. This week it is supposed to be nice (well today anyhow  ) so it might be closer to 5:45

When I get off of work at 6 it's very dark outside. It's taking some getting used to.
