Ketchup

I think my husband is a freak :tease: when it comes to ketchup. He pretty much likes it on everything...except the obvious ketchup things. Hot dogs, for one. I eat ketchup (or catsup depending on your preference) w/ breakfast sausages. He thinks that is weird. I think it is weird he doesn't.

So, who is the weird one? Wait. Don't answer that.

I eat ketchup w/ fries, and w/ my breakfast sausages. I eat it on hamburgers. I don't really eat hot dogs, but if I do have one, it is w/ ketchup. I am also admittedly whisky tango and eat ketchup w/ steak. :blush: I vote a big fat no to ketchup on mac and cheese and eggs.

What do you eat ketchup on? Or what obvious ketchup related food to you prefer w/out?

I put ketchup on hot dogs too, and Scott thinks that is crazy. He says mustard is for hotdogs...I like ketchup on burgers, fries and eggs as well. I like dipping grilled cheese in ketchup...and I like ketchup on baked potatoes...and I like dipping mozzarella sticks in ketchup rather than marinara sauce (although it has been a while since I ate a mozzarella stick). I used to put it on steak as a kid, but not anymore.

I wouldn't put it on breakfast sausages...I don't eat them that often but if I do, I like to dip them in maple syrup.

Anyway, I eat it on the normal things... fries, burgers, hotdogs, onion rings, etc. When I was young I ate it on scrambled eggs but I haven't done that in years.

I like ketchup on normal things too, but I also like them on scrambled eggs. I guess that's a little not normal. :)

I eat ketchup on hamburgers and hot dogs. (and mustard, I like both.) Once in a while I'll dip my fries in ketchup, but that depends on my mood. Nothing else though.

Greg puts ketchup on his mac&cheese. :dead:

I only eat ketchup on my veggie burgers, and even then, its a dime-sized amount. Occasionally (more not than often) I will eat it with fries. I am not a huge fan.

I only use ketchup on hotdogs or on burgers. I'll eat ketchup with fries but I have to dip the fry into the ketchup, I HATE having it squirted/splattered onto the fries :lol: and forget about ketchup and eggs ..I tried it once eyons ago 'cause my ex ate it but I about lost my breakfast after trying it lol.

I don't like it on anything. I am not a fan of it. Of course if a burger has already been premade and it's on it, I can handle it. But I much prefer it not on it. I feel like it washes out the taste of things :dunno:

Tony eats it on normal things like on Sausage Sizzle sandwiches, hotdogs, pies, sausage rolls, hot chips etc etc

I like it on meatloaf and hashbrowns....and that's really about it! I also like to mix with mayo for fries....but not by itself, it must be mixed with mayo or I don't want any. :)

We don't eat a lot of ketchup in our house. Paul likes it on burgers and fries....and Alex likes it on most stuff....but only a little bit at a time. I don't buy the Costco-size bottles or anything. :lol:

I like ketchup with sausage as well. Besides that I seem to stick to things like burgers, fries and hot dogs.

As a child, all my friends put it in their mac-n-cheese and even then I never got it. :dead:

I do not understand putting it in mac & cheese or adding it to tomato/spaghetti/marinara sauce :puke:

I eat it on hamburgers and hot dogs but members of my family do only mustard. I also put it on fries, ORs and hash browns. I'll put it on eggy breakfast casserole dishes but not other eggs. Oh and corndogs. :scan: Yeah, I like corndogs.

I will only eat ketchup with french fries and they must be dipped in it, not slathered with it. I do not eat ketchup unless it is on a fry. I love me some homefries/hash browns but they do not get ketchup. Why? It's not a fry.

I will eat my ketchup and french fries with my Mom's roast beef gravy (but not any other kind of gravy so I don't eat gravy with fries very often) but DH thinks gravy and ketchup and fries is a gross combo. He says you can have either ketchup or gravy with fries but not both.

We eat chips with gravy here too, that's not exclusive to Canadians :) (chips = french fries, tomato sauce = ketchup).

We also eat it with sausages. I can't imagine maple syrup on a sausage :puke:

I don't eat a lot of tomato sauce but Harry eats it with everything. EVERYTHING. If it gets him to eat, I'm all for it :dunno:

Gravy fries were a big late night snack or hangover treat in Vermont, where I went to school. YUM!

I also just want to clarify that I only put ketchup on scrambled eggs...the thought of it on sunnyside up makes me want to barf...I don't know why! (I think sunnyside up in general just skeeves me out a bit) :lol:

Ketchup belongs on burgers and fries. I don't know anything else it belongs on. In my opinion it's a cardinal sin to put ketchup on eggs, hot dogs or meatloaf! :secret: Melted cheese belongs on meatloaf!

Becky, you pronounce it poo-tin and it is very common in Quebec and Ottawa. And other places with a large francophone population.
