How many of us here ;) are old enough to have had 45 records? Granted, they were on their way out, but I still had them (and still do, I think, somewhere in my house  ).

Did you have them? Do you remember your favorites or the first one you bought?

I remember my sister bought me my first 45, which was "There's Something Going On" by Freida (she had been in Abba). :lol2: Then I think my next one was a Pointer Sister's song. 45's were fun.

I have some!!! I'm old though...... :heee:

I have a bunch that my Dad gave me from the 1950's.
The first one I ever bought for myself was Blondie - Heart of Glass. I bought it for a dance routine in jr. high gym class in 1980. :aok:

I'm the same age (give or take) as you guys, but I didn't have 45's? None that I can remember anyway. Maybe that's it, I'm just too old to remember. :(

I don't have any, but I remember growing up we had a few. One was Tennessee Waltz and I remember it b/c my mom loved it. Another was Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash. I still love that long.

I loved 45s. Embarassingly, one of the only ones I can remember owning was "We Built This City" by Jeferson Starship.

We had a bunch of my uncle's old 45s. Our all time favorite was The Partridge Family/David Cassidy song "I think I love you!" We collapsed in fits of giggles every time the he sang the low "I don't know what I'm up against, I got so much to think about..."

Does an LP count? I had a friend send me an LP of Robin Gibb's Boys Do Fall In Love. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFNw58Bu7_o&search=robin+gibb+

I think I still have most of my 45s in a box in the back of the closet (with my LPs of course  ). I can't remember which was my first. I do have a couple that were part of an All City Choir that I sang with in 5th grade. It was really cool to cut a *record* at a fairly big studio! I'm pretty sure that I had Shaun Cassidy's "Da Doo Run Run."

Remember those flimsy plastic 45s that would come on cereal boxes or whatever? They were always square.

Motocycle Mama by Sailcat! How's that one for all you youngins'?! Bet you never even heard of it.

The Bitch is back - Elton John. I remember blasting that song and feeling so rebellious due to swearing.

Da doo ron ron - Shawn Cassidy.

I *think* I still have some of these along with my LPs, or big black CDs that my kids refer to them as. :giggle:

Thanks for the blast to the past Brydge!

Ah, the first 45 I ever purchased myself was David Bowie "Let's Dance" I think I played that til the needle broke on the record player. I also had a ton of stuff that was my aunt's. Donny Osmond singing "Puppy Love" anyone?

I had a giant door-sized poster of Donny Osmond (and also Andy Gibb). He was dreeeeeeamy. Sigh.

My 1st 45 was Joan Jett and the Blackhearts: I Love Rock n Roll.

The only 45's I had were my parents old ones (I did have my own LPs though). I recall Herman's Hermits 'Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter', and 'yummy, yummy, yummy' (dont know the band), and Mamas & Papas 'California Dreamin'.

I just remembered another one. I had "Funkytown" -- stolen from my big brother I think.
