I dined and ditched once when I was in high school. I think it was a cup of wild rice soup and a side order of fries.

I can't think of anything, besides the yummy Aveda toiletries from the Inn where we stayed last weekend. That doesn't count, right?

Not sure this counts but I take the notepaper they leave out in hotels and usually the shampoo but nothing big..my FIL stole a coffee thermos from a hotel in Vegas once, I'm surprised they never back charged his Visa

Um................

YES!

I've stolen the usual toiletries and then I stole an ashtray from Harry's Bar and Tables in Venice. And I'd do it again! And it was an ugly ash tray!

What? Toiletries don't count! They provide them for you to use! They're not going to reuse them. (ew)

I did debate about taking the fluffy bathrobe. But I didn't. Points for that, eh?

Yes, we used to steal stuff from Denny's in high school...I had one of their teapots and a sugar holder for a while...

I take the toiletries from hotels too...but not the towels or anything!

When we were teenagers (drinking age is 18 here) we used to steal a beer mug from every pub or club we went to  I had quite the stash, but as the partys went by they all got broken (as they do  )

I voted 'no'. This is one area where I'm a perfect angel.

I voted "sort of" cause the only one I can think of is earlier this year when I went out to dinner with some school mums, one of them stole the wine glasses from the restaurant and she put them in my bag. So I was an unwilling accessory :shuffle:

I'm sure there were plenty when I was young, but my memory isn't that good

We stole some really nice mugs from a restaurant. Just put em under our coats and walked right out.

Unless you count the free toiletries, no.
I think I'm too honest for my own good!

toiletries are there for you to take. that aint stealing, people

in college, i may or may not have had a very large collection of pint glasses from all the bars in milwaukee. :shuffle: i may have also stolen anything anyone asked me to when i was drunk...including yard ornaments .... but i could also be kidding :shuffle:

I've also taken my share of toiletries/notepads/etc. from hotel rooms. :heee:

I've taken a variety of glasses from various bars/pubs throughout the world - New Orleans, London, Seattle. :heee: I still have them too.....they're added to Paul's collection of stolen German beer glasses.

That reminds me of one :shuffle: I was at a bar for a friend's Hens Night (bachelorette party) and I was dared to steal a life size cutout of a footballer (Fatty Vautin for Deb :awink: ) I put him under my arm and made a dash past the bouncers, another drunk tried to wrestle me for it but I made a getaway, flagged a cab, threw him in, jumped in and took it home, bouncers still chasing me

When Keith and I were leaving for NY we had a goodbye dinner with a guy (whose name is also Keith. We'll call him Keith S. Because that's his name)we used to work with. Drinks were flowing and Keith S. dared me to take a Christmas ornament off the tree in the lobby of the bar. So I did. Then he dared me to take a salsa dish from the restaurant. So I did.

Yep. Going to Hell in a handbasket. Anyone joining me?

Nope, never stolen anything, and I never will. If I ever had the urge, my conscience would never let me forget it

Not as interesting as some of the others, but I know we've taken some silverware from restaurants. Mostly to eat things on the road or in a motel, but still. Nathan once took a "slow children at play" sign - and he wasn't drunk.

Um, is it considered stealing if the waiter helps you out? :shuffle:

Back in high school my friends and I loved a restaurant called Mozzarella's Cafe (I think it's now called American Cafe if there are any left) and they had the cutest cappuccino glasses. I somehow wound up with four of them.

I took a menu from a restaurant we ate at in Italy because I wanted it for a souvenier.

For spring break when I was an 8th grader my grandma took me, my brother(then a 6th grader) and my cousin (then a 5th grader) to opry land... My cousin and I would go around the hotel all the time and steal the unopened tiny condiment jars from room service trays!

Bev

Yep. The usual bar glasses everyone else seems to have stolen.

Ramikens from restaurants have found there way to our house in the past. Mostly that happened in college though.

Brad and some friends of ours walked off with a couple of pint glasses that they were trying to buy at a bar in Disney. They'd drank from them, and they were available for purchase. The bartender kept ignoring them, so they left with the two glasses. (This is the story I got. I wasn't there.)

I've stolen the usual toiletries and then I stole an ashtray from Harry's Bar and Tables in Venice. And I'd do it again! And it was an ugly ash tray!
This reminds me of a story of ours. We stayed at some place that had ashtrays with "Thank you for not smoking." written on them. :wtf: Why have a fricking ashtray if you don't want people to smoke. I had to have it, even though we've never smoked cigarettes.

No, but friends of mine stole some glasses from the bar when they went on a cruise a few years ago.

I may or may not resemble this post. :shuffle:

I may or may not have taken some silverware from a restaurant this summer when they couldn't come up with a plastic one for us.

We did dine and ditch once. We gave the waiter 45 minutes, during which time I looked for him 3 times and found him once to tell him we were done and wanted our check so we could leave. he never came, so we left.

Oops, I lied earlier.

I can remember at least one occassion where I took a glass from a bar. So which is worse, taking the glass or lying about it. Is it a lie, when really I had forgotten about it until I read all the other stories about taking glasses from bars?

I just remembered we still have a bath towel from the China World hotel that Kai snagged in Beijing. It's a huge nice towel. It was the only one that would go around me when I was pregnant.

I can't vote but I've stolen 4 huge pool towels from a hotel in Singapore.

I guess I'll have to confess but it's really not all that exciting. We stayed at a crappy hotel for a night since our neighborhood had been evacuated due to a fire. The air was full of ash so we took a couple of washcloths from the hotel to wet & cover our faces. We still have the washcloths. For a few seconds the other day, I actually thought about going & returning them though the fire was about 3 years ago

DH and I ordered drinks and appetizers (plus the free chips and salsa) at a Mexican restaurant and then got in a big fight and he walked out. I debated staying behind and eating it all myself but I was too embarrassed so I left. Which apparently wasn't quite as embarrassing.

I have a huge collection of hotel pens and mini paper pads but I don't consider that stealing.

Other than toiletries at a hotel which I agree is not really stealing.... when at dinner if I'm taking leftovers home and I have little container with sauce/guacamole/etc, I will pack it in the to-go-box... I know, shame, shame, shame on me! :shuffle:

BTW, they make great little dishes for the boys when they need ketchup for their fries or for syrup for them to dunk their pancakes

I got a lot of points for actually taking said fluffy bathrobe. Had to do it, it was from the Ritz Carlton and I knew that would be the only proof that I was actually there!

And yes to restaurants too. If they serve sauce/dressing in a side cup and I need to take it to go, that goes too. :secret: I've only done that twice.

I suffered from the same kind of drunken behavior in Lexington, KY.

Also, I dated a guy who liked to take pillows from hotels... I did the same and to this day, 2 of my comfiest pillows are from hotels! The 3rd I stole from him

I stole a whole placesetting from a friends wedding dinner. The glasses, the silverware, the plates, everything.

Then for their 1st Anniversary I gave them the loot  They paid enough for the event, I figured a little souvenier was in order.

Alcohol has made me a klepto on occassion. A friend of mine and I used to get drunk and dare each other to take the dumbest things. We left a BP's restruant one night I, with a jar of assorted pickles and 6 martini glasses with funky bases. He left with a full jug of beer and four beer mugs. Earlier I had stolen a terry cloth table cover from the Gold Range Hotel (Its a northern landmark bar), he tried to steal the table but the boncer caught him quick. All of these items are still on display in the bar in his basement. On another night, we stole a stop sign with the atached road sign that some drunk (not us, smart drunks walk) had run over, and left behind. we had to take turns carrrying it because it still had the broken pole attached. It used to have a place of honor behind the bar but someone brought a cop to a house party and the cop had a flip out about stolen public property!

Other than those incidents I tried to curb my klepto tendancies....

That's ballsy, Julie!

Andrea, I'll give you a break on the stop sign because it was already down, but I don't like that one! :nono: I used to do diversion on kids who did stuff like that and we scared the shit out of them reminding them that someone could have been killed if they didn't know there was supposed to be a stop sign because they took it.

Mary, okay. :)

Well there are occasions when we are at restaurants when they give you condiments in those little tiny dish things. I forget what they are called. Well when we get the to go boxes sometimes those may or may not come home with us  Hey..they don't give you anything for that and that is the good part

When Tylor was just little I was an accessory to stealing. My BIL (just DH's good friend at the time) wanted the steak knife at a restaurant we were at. While I was in the bathroom he slipped it into Tylor's diaper Bag and I didn't know until we got home that I had carried the knife out the door with me!

And I too take the toiletries from hotels. Soap, shampoo, pens, note pad..Yep...But it is all there for you so I don't think that is stealing!
