I've been trying to follow the Baby Whisperer EASY routine and it seems to be working ok as Dylan will easily fall asleep himself without too much comforting by us, but I'm wondering if it has something to do with his catnaps during day.

Once he wakes up, I'll feed him and that can take anywhere from 25-45 minutes, change his diaper and let him play for a bit. Usually play time lasts about 45 minutes to an hour. So at this point he's been awake for 1.5-2 hours. Then I'll put him down for a nap because he is starting to get sleepy, yawning, fussing etc. but then he'll only nap for about 45 minutes and I think he wakes up because he's hungry. Should I be trying to get him to nap earlier in the cycle? He usually runs about 2.5 hour cycles. We are getting one afternoon nap closer to 1.5 hours somewhat consistanly.

2.5 hour cycles seem about right. We did the EASY system and Joe and Frances were both around 3 hour cycles.

I'm pretty sure at this age, Sarah tnapped about the same amount of time. I think you guys are doing fine. I didn't follow the EASY system strictly or count the hours or anything, but it sounds like he's doing fine.

What is the EASY system?

EASY is basically a pattern you follow, not a schedule. Once baby wakes up the eats (E), then does some activity (A), then sleeps (S), then mom has you time (Y). It supposed to help you understand what baby's needs are and helps baby know what's coming.
