WHAT and WHERE can I buy, we've got some moth flying around the house, I don't know is it fruit moth or the one that trashes the clothes. I don't want to buy nasty moth balls, they smell so bad, but maybe cedar or lavender planks? Is there something else? Where can I buy cedar and lavender? How to get rid of the moth?

Where are you seeing most of them? In the kitchen or in your closet?

If it's the kitchen, you'll have to check all of your dry goods to see if they're hatching from there and throw it all away if they are. I think if you get rid of whatever they're coming from and keep the rest of your uncontaminated dry stuff (cereal, flour, rice, oats, etc) sealed in a plastic bag or container, they should be gone soon.

If it's your closet, then cedar is a good idea. You can get cedar closet stuff just about anywhere - Target, Home Depot, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc. There are cedar balls, little boards that have a hook to hang on your closet rod, etc.

Good luck getting rid of them!

are they small moths? ... and are there many? ... if so ... they did likely come from your drygoods ... but it doesn't take long for them to fill the house beyond the kitchen ... i kept having this happen ... i stopped buying the bulk rice from Henry's ... and put all my drygoods in sealed containers or bags ... i then found that the dried corn cobs that i buy for the squirrels had them ...

the way that i got rid of em ... and keep em from reinfesting is to use these

the first ones i ordered online ... but have since found that Lowes sells them and just get them there ... we have two in the kitchen ... and then one in a linen closet that seems to be a prob and the tv room which also can be a prob ... it isn't an immediate elimination of the prob ... but doesn't take long ... you do also have to rid your house of the source ... i also ended up having to empty my cupboards and wipe the insides all down ... twice in fact which was a pain and led me to find the traps ... good luck

I believe it's a kitchen cabinet. Yes, they filled the whole house already.

UGH ... i feel your pain ... if you find the source and remove it ... wipe down the cabinets ... get the Pantry Pest Traps ... you should see some improvement quickly ... but will have them lingering for a while ... to be honest ... i have still seen a couple around our house tonite ... and we have kept things sealed up and had traps out for a couple of months ... i seriously, seriously, seriously HATE these stupid moths ... not just for the pain of seeing them around ... but the waste of food that you throw out ...

again ... good luck ...

I wiped the shelves and threw almost all the grains we've had. Put the flour in some sealed containers from Ikea (glass jars). It makes me nervous that they fly next to our closets now, and I sure hope they don't eat any wool and are just fruit food moths. I'll get the traps, thanks... also will have some cedar (but honestly, we've god a cedar wardrobe recently on eBay, and the thing...doesn't smell...we've sanded it...it's a cedar for sure, but where is the smell? Interesting...I'm just thinking if I get some cedar planks they will be useless and worthless...cause they don't smell!

from my experience [and i have had quite a bit] ... i have never had probs with any clothing/linens ... even if they were in the closets, they did not *eat* any cloth/fiber ...

the one thing that i did find ... is that where they laid their eggs ... there was a sack/webbing ... after they hatched ... just last weekend i pitched a box of plastic utensils ... the were in our kitchen cupboards ... and i found *webbing* on them ... so they are gone ...

seriously ... i thought ants were bad ... hence our quarterly pest control ... but these dang moths have cost us more in food/things ...

We have them too and I'm getting sick of them. There aren't that many, but I find at least one every day. I originally found them in some wheat flour. I threw it away, but the moths have not dissappeared. I thought I put all my grains in plastic bags, but they still haven't cleared out.

Just so you know, when I was younger, my mom had this problem in our pantry. We looked and looked and looked for the source and could never find it. Then, one day, I went to get our dog a treat and WAH-LAH! There they were! I believe it was a box of "Bonz." So, you never know where you might find them.
