Now that we're done, I'd love to hear your thoughts, comments, suggestions and questions about the game.
In adddition, there are some specific questions I have:
If you didn't understand it in the beginning, did it make sense later?
Would you play again?
If yes, what would you change next time?
Did you enjoy the game overall?
What was the worst part?
What was the most fun?

1. I didn't understand at first, but it didn't take long to get into it. I pretty much made up my own rules until it all fell into place :lol:
2. Yes I would play again
3. Overall yes I enjoyed it
4. I think the worst part was at the end it dragged out a little. I think if it went for a little bit shorter it might have been more fun.
5. I enjoyed the make believe part of it, I enjoyed being able to do and say anything, and I enjoyed trying to decipher the clues.
Overall a fantastic job, Sheila. Thank you for the halloween fun!

If you didn't understand it in the beginning, did it make sense later? I did understand it, and that was with me jumping in a day late due to my moving. But IMO, it took a while for businesses to get up and running. Maybe when you send the PM on if we are a vamp or not, you assign us a business.
Would you play again? Yes, I would definately play again.....can we start one now?!? LOL
If yes, what would you change next time? A better system on when people are unable to post, not online, etc. I would have to think about it some more to offer up suggestions. Another suggestion that I made to you during the game would be to show who the dead vamps are, different from the victims.
Did you enjoy the game overall? Yes, 4* out of 5*
What was the worst part? Some days were hard to keep up with stuff. I wouldn't call it the worst part, but it made it difficult with the limited time I had some days to get to all the updated OUALville posts
What was the most fun? Overall I did enjoy the game, maybe start it a little closer to Halloween.
Thank you for running this, I am sure it took up quite a bit of your time.

I did enjoy the game and thought Sheila did a great job coming up with it and everyone got amazingly into it. I would do it again (and we could have different themes for other holidays!!)
What I didn't like was that it took a lot of time and if you weren't up at the start, it was easy to fall behind. That's just a function of how much everyone got into it though so that's a good thing and I'm not sure how to control that.
It was hard to figure where clues were (clues from behavior, not the victim's clues). Because vampires could lie, you couldn't really believe anything anyone posted. I felt like voting was a bit of a crapshoot until we had clues from the victims.
But it was fun and Sheila, your articles each day were very good!

Amy, I think everyone coming up with their own business part of the fun part for me! it was great to see how creative people could be! :nod:

True. Like I said with me missing the entire 1st day, I was behind from the start. Maybe if I was in when the clock 1st started ticking I may have a different opinion. I spent soooo much time catching up, I wasn't able to think up something. I am so glad AmyP let me in on the restaurant.....I really went with that. That menu document in our thread was done all by me. I spent about 3 hours doing it. So, I do know the creative thinking part. I just started mine a lot later than everyone else :biggrin:

I can pretty much ditto this. My time online can be limited and it was hard for me this time because of my eye surgery and I couldn't really see well. I think it's hard to keep up if your time is limited compared to those who can be on at work etc.
I liked deciding what our business would be but you could easily say who is a business owner and tell the rest they are unemployed and have to look for work or something.

As someone playing from the "other side," you might get a different view from me.
If you didn't understand it in the beginning, did it make sense later? I kinda didn't understand it in the beginning, but I quickly got the hang of it. I originally thought we'd be changing up vamps during the game, but obviously we didn't. I liked that we had a lot of freedom with doing and saying whatever us vamps wanted.
Would you play again? Definitely! :aok: It was a lot of fun.
If yes, what would you change next time? I'm not sure. I agree that it kinda drug on toward the end.
Did you enjoy the game overall? Definitely. You did a great job, Sheila, and I know you must've put a lot of time and energy into this. I really appreciate it. I also felt like I got to know people on OUAL a little more, spending time reading about them that I might not otherwise.
What was the worst part? Spending time away from my kids to play. :lol: Actually on some days that was a blessing.
What was the most fun? Knowing that I was a vamp and nobody else did. And for what it's worth, I didn't lie on anything I said. It's true my little guy does get gassy when I eat garlic. :) I tried not to give any blatant clues, and I really didn't try to flaunt that I knew something. Maybe I have a career in being a spy. :lol:
Thanks again, Sheila. It was so much fun.

If you didn't understand it in the beginning, did it make sense later?
I didn't really understand at first, but quickly got it.
Would you play again?
Absolutely! If you can't tell by my million posts, I loved it. :biggrin:
If yes, what would you change next time?
Well, since this was the inaugural go round, I think a lot will change just on that basis b/c people will kind of "get it" when they first start posting. At first I think things were a bit confusing but that was just b/c people were feeling their way through it.
Did you enjoy the game overall?
Very much so!
What was the worst part?
I guess people not realizing they had to sign up to play. More people = more fun!
What was the most fun?
I really did get to know some people better through this game! Not at all a result I expected, but happy to have.

I thought it was a great game. At first, I was a little lost but it didn't take long to understand it. The only part I had a hard time with was how much time it took. I snuck in at work to read but it wasn't easy keeping up and posting. I loved how creative everyone was and businesses were fun too. If I had more time, I would definitely play again.

With the time limitations-- did the Town Hall meeting threads help? I thought they might act as a sort of Cliff notes for what was going on. :dunno:

With the time limitations-- did the Town Hall meeting threads help? I thought they might act as a sort of Cliff notes for what was going on. :dunno: They did, but you basically only had the clues and people being eliminated by testing to go on. The fact that they could eat garlic cooked vs raw, some seemed to walk daylight made it very hard.

The Town Hall did help and it is what I went by a few days but you missed out on all the little details.

If you didn't understand it in the beginning, did it make sense later? I thought I understood it, but the fantasy town thing kinda surprised me.....rules were made up as we went.
Would you play again? Yes.
If yes, what would you change next time? The game started to twindle down towards the end...shorter game would have helped...not saying killing off more people. Then it would have gotten just as quiet, but when two people were killed, two clues would have helped.
I don't know if the vampires received any rules to what they can and cannot do i.e. can't eat garlic, can't see yourself in a mirror etc. There were inconsistencies.
Did you enjoy the game overall? Yes, it was fun
What was the worst part? At the beginning of the game it was hard to keep up with all the posts.
What was the most fun? The make-believe, playing clues

As someone who didn't play the game but snuck in to "watch" to see what was happening as often as possible, I thoroughly enjoyed all participants imagination!! WOW! It was great!

There were inconsistencies.
That reminds me. I was reading the alchemist thread, and there were some victims that purchased the sunlight necklaces. I thought if they had them they would be protected. Now, I really don't think you could sell them, because then everyone would buy one and there would be no victims. Or only allow 5 to exist or something.

The only consistency there was that the vampires didn't buy any. About people being protected 100%...well....did you know they worked? :whistle: or that they were wearing them?

If you didn't understand it in the beginning, did it make sense later?
I was a little unclear at first, but once it got going it started to make sense. :nod:
Would you play again?
Yes, definitely!
If yes, what would you change next time?
I wouldn't have it coincide with the costume thing. I think that distracted a lot of us. ;) I think it could be a little shorter next time, too. I don't know how to make it shorter, though.
Did you enjoy the game overall?
Yes! :aok: Thanks for organizing and running it, Sheila! Nicely done! :clap:
What was the worst part?
I don't know that there was a worst part. Not being able to do the costumes, I guess.
What was the most fun?
The creativity, the great newspaper articles, trying to figure out the clues, all of it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All of the necklaces and charms and whatnot were an impromptu creative part of the game, and I think if you try to make rules for that stuff it will take away from the fun. I just tried to focus on the real clues provided by the dead villagers and Sheila. I took the rest as creative license by the players, and I thought it was really cool how into the game everyone was. :aok:
If you didn't understand it in the beginning, did it make sense later? I basically understood it, although it did make more sense the more we played.
Would you play again? Most definitely. I really enjoyed it!
If yes, what would you change next time? Not sure. The Buffy fan in me wanted there to be a slayer somewhere. :giggle: It seemed a little dragged out towards the end. I'm not sure.
Did you enjoy the game overall? Oh yeah, I loved getting to be creative. And I had a WONDERFUL business partner!
What was the worst part? Sometimes the clues given were frustrating, but I guess that's the point.
What was the most fun? I thought the news articles were really funny. And I liked playing make believe with everyone. And I'm totally cracking up at almost being the last victim.
Now, if you'll all excuse me, I need to go change into my costume.
I thought it was really fun. I thought everyone was very creative and I laughed quite a bit. I will be back to post more thoughts but I have to get to work. Oh, one downside is that I'm usually online when the rest of you are not! except for Deb :)
If you didn't understand it in the beginning, did it make sense later?
I didn't really understand it in the beginning. I just read along in the beginning until I almost got killed off for fleeing :blush: After the first killings, I started figuring things out.
Would you play again? Most definitely. I really enjoyed it!
If yes, what would you change next time? Probably as others suggested to kill 2 people off at a time so it doesn't drag on.
Did you enjoy the game overall? Very much so.
What was the worst part? Keeping up with all the posts near the beginning. By the end, I got distracted with our long weekend as well as numberous doctor appointments so I didn't post as much but that has nothing to do with the game except life getting in the way.
What was the most fun? Loved how creative everyone was and I looked forward to reading the news update when I got up every morning.
If you didn't understand it in the beginning, did it make sense later?
I understood it, but it became even more clear as the game went on. Like, I didn't know that the PM you sent saying we were encouraged to share details about our business meant that we could start a business thread, until I saw someone else do it. That could just be me being dense though.
Would you play again? Absolutely!
If yes, what would you change next time?
It seemed to lose momentum towards the end. I loved it, but maybe either make it shorter, or come up with a way so that it doesn't slow down, like change something up in the middle.
Did you enjoy the game overall? Very much.
What was the worst part? Didn't have one.
What was the most fun? The creativity everyone showed, getting to interact with people I don't usually talk to.
I'll pretty much echo everyone else. I enjoyed it, but it was hard to keep up and I thought it went on a bit too long. Also, I would've liked to have had more structure/rules, but then like someone else said (I forget who), that might have stifled the creativity. But overall it was fun!
I did like the Town Meetings and News threads. I had a hard time keeping up and those two threads saved me. :)
I really liked the game and got into it a lot. I especially liked how all the towspeople started their own businesses. I wish the vampires were a little more out with their personalities though, dropping more hints that is. I will definitely play again!
If you didn't understand it in the beginning, did it make sense later?
Some of the rules were blurry at the beggining but the questions thread helped a lot
Would you play again?
Of course
If yes, what would you change next time?
The clues and killings. They should be more realistic in the sense that the should be based on something that happened on the threads, like someone is drinking at the bar and says is going back to the inn, and someone else (WHO IS ONLINE AT THE TIME) follows her and sucks the blood
So we can see who was when and where and deduct things not just guess based on some clues
Did you enjoy the game overall?
A lot
What was the worst part?
The weekend hiatus kind of killed the game, so we should choose a week long game that won't be interrupted because of holidays
What was the most fun?
All the crazy stories that you post and how everyone gets involved and follows it. And the VIP room at Deb's bar
Good point, Joan. That was one thing I didn't like either, I am online when not many other people are, and I was always wondering around a deserted town, I tried to do my rock bands during times when people were online, but that for me is when the kids are having breakfast and life is busy so I always felt rushed. Damn time zones! :blue:
OK, so the one thing that everyone seems to be in agreement on is that the game lasted too long. :shuffle: I think it did, too, but there was really no way of knowing that until we played. Sorry, my guinea pigs.
Next time, if we have the same number of people interested in playing (or even more!!) I'll split it into different neighboring towns with the same issue and each game will last a week. Well, M-F.
And maybe there will be more rules for the "vamps" or whatever they might be that they can't do/post certain things.
I really did like the loosey-goosey creative aspect of it all, though, it was so great to see everyone's imaginations at work. You came up with things I never would have thought of, and it was so much fun to read and be a part of.
Thanks, y'all... :peace:
