I would like to get this IF forum going a little bit so if there is anyone over here that hasn't posted yet.....why not..LOL. We can do a little check in in this thread or we can start a new thread for that, depending on how many of us are here.

:wavey: Hi there...dealing with secondary infertility this time. We ttc'd with for almost 2 years before being blessed with a son. We are on cycle #3 with the help of provera, clomid and glucophage.

I'm Kim and we are ttc#2. I was very lucky with my daughter and conceived her my first month on 50mg of clomid and an hcg shot. Not so lucky this go around - we are currently in our 6th cycle (1 at 50mg, 1 at 100mg and 4 at 150mg). My body has been responding to the 150 mg. of clomid and I have ovulted (based on progesterone results) the last two months. So, if this cycle doesn't work, my OB has given us the option of trying one more month of clomid/hcg or going to a fertiltiy specialist. If this month doesn't work, we are going to try the one more month of clomid and then we will have to go to the specialist. I hope that you all are luckier than I am though - my insurance covers *nothing* that is intended to create a pregnancy.

Kim and Brandi, I wish you both positive vibes for your upcoming cycles. I also understand the frustration of Insurance, we decided that I will go back to school and get my degree before we will go to an RE again. Hopefully by then we'll be able to afford IVF or it will finally be covered by insurance.

OMG! I didn't know that your insurance didn't cover anything Kim. Guess that wasn't such a big deal when you conceived Ali...but the high tech stuff gets pretty $$. I suppose I'm lucky...my meds and dr appts are covered, and it will pay for one round of IVF a year (which I hope I never need) I can't imagine having to pay for it out of pocket!

It definitely bites a big one. Getting pregnant with Ali cost about $700 (counting all my appointments at $67 each, $40something for clomid and $50something for the hcg shot). This one, well.... let's just say it's a whole lot more! I don't want to even think about the prices of high tech stuff. I know that the fertility clinic here charges around $15,000 for IVF - that's everything, but there is no way we will probably ever be able to do that!

Hi Everyone :wavey: My name is Susan and DH is Keith. We have been TTC for 2 1/2 years and finally got PG in Sep. We found out at the end of Nov at our 12week U/S that the baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks. Also found out that there were 2 sacs. Had the D&C on Nov 28. and now we are trying to look toward the future and be OTL.

Wishing this group nothing but success :D

Hi! We conceived our daughter on clomid after being diagnosed with PCOS. We are on our 2nd cycle of Clomid TTC#2. And like Kim, insurance covers NOTHING!

Hey everyone,
My name is Tricia (24) and Dh is Daniel (25). We have been trying for 2 1/2 years and we were blessed with our first angel in Sept 01. Unfortunately we lost that one at 11.5 weeks. The doctors told me that I was at the right hormone level and my cervix was tighter than Ft Knox. We think that there was a genetic problem with the baby. Currently we are not as aggressively trying in hopes of losing weight and getting our finances in order for IUI with donor sperm. Plus I have been with my company for 4 years this past October and when I make it to 5 years, my mat leaves goes from 4 weeks full pay and 4 weeks of half pay to 8 weeks full pay and 8 weeks half pay. This would help since I am the breadwinner in our family. We found out that DH has the handicapped sperm aka his boys have a 0% chance of fertilizing an egg and completely abnormal in motility and morphology.
We have decided to do 2 rounds of IUI with donor sperm with our money and 1 round with my mother's ( I am an only child and my mother is desperate for grandchildren).

We are looking at starting the IUI with donor sperm in spring 2005.

Hello I am Erica and my fh is Will, we are both 23 and have been TTC since March 2002, so just about 2 year now! I never dreamed it would take this long.
We have not had any diagnosis as to why we have not conceived, though because of certain things I think it is PCOS.

Hi, my name is Allie and my DH and I suffer from both male and female IF. endometriosis. We did one cycle of IVF and I got pg, I am 8 weeks now, but have had bleeding since week 5. The baby is looking good on the ultrasound, but there is a blood clot near the baby (not directly affecting it at this point). So, the clot is being monitored and the dr is hoping it will shrink. I have been passing a lot of brown discharge, so I know the clot is on the way out. Just praying this pgy sticks!! Don't know if I have it in me to do another IVF round, although my insurance covers three full IVF cycles in full. I think in total we may have spent $100 or so of our own money. That and the tolls into Manhattan....good luck girls!!! Has anyone considered adoption? We are interested in international adoption as well, for the future.

Hi, I'm Becky and my DH is Steve. We've been TTC for about 20 months, so far we have unexplained infertility. I am finally seeing RE on February 5. I am hoping to move on to IUI since I've done three rounds of Clomid with no success. I'm not sure how much longer we will pursue IF treatment, we have talked about international adoption and that's what we'll do if IUI doesn't work. Looking forward to chatting with everyone!

allieDaniel and I have both agreed that we are going to move to international adoption after 2 or 3 cycles of IUI with donor sperm since our insurance will not pay for any of it. I would love to do a domestic adoption but I have a huge fear of the mother coming back to get their child.

You are in my prayers that you have a sticky baby!

Hi im Dianne and i have never been pregnant and never will be. I had perritonitis and almost died they did surgery and did a emergency complete hysterectomy. I was devastated as it was always my dream to have a baby. I have thought about adoption and my bf have considered it but its not an option now because of how much it cost and other factors involved. I hope all of you do get pregnant and i wish you the best. Allie I am praying for you and your baby.

Hi everyone, I am Michelle (28) and DH is Michael (26) we have been dealing with female IF issues for about 3 years (April) I was diagnosed back in September 2002 with PCOS!

Hi!

I'm Renee (28) and my DH is Allen (37) and we both have infertility issues. I have PCOS and Endo and he has hypogonadism. One of his problems is that too many of his sperm die within 24 hours, making it hard to fertilize my egg. We started seeing our RE in June and she said our best bet would be either IUI or IVF but since we are self pay we decided to try the IUI. We had our first one in November and it failed. Our second was a success but ended in a miscarriage. I started spotting on 12/27 and knew it wasnt a viable pregnancy. We had suffered a previous m/c last Feb. Thankfully, we don't have to wait to long to try again. She will let us do another IUI next month with injectables instead of clomid.

My name is Jodi (27) and DH Eric (26) both have IF problems. I dx with PCOS and Eric has low sperm count, mobility etc.. He had surgery in October to remove a vaircole (?spelling). The post-op this month shows that the vein is gone which is great. Now next month is the sperm count results, so we are hoping for good results. I have been dealing with an amazing IF dr and depending on Eric's results we have a few plans of action.

Looking forward to meeting more women who are dealing with IF problems.

Hi Ladies :)

My name is Anna (27) and DH is Chris (30). We've been TTC since May 2001, so almost 3 years now. I have PCOS and have seen two REs since October 2001. Unfortunately nothing so far has worked for us :( The next step given to us by our new RE is either IVF or adoption. Both routes will be expensive and I'm not sure which, if any, we will choose.

Take care and I wish you all the best of luck!

My name is Sarah (27) and my hubby is Stephen (27). We have been off BCP since February of '03. I had abnormal spotting resulting in cryotherapy of the cervix in May. I just had my annual with my OBGYN and have begun the IF testing process. I never thought I would end up on this side of the fence b/c "our family is fertile" according to my mom and sister , but I am here and hopefully not for long
