Welcome to Pie in the Sky! I'm Nichole, your purveyor of pies as well as various and sundry edible goods. We have a lovely lunch menu in addition to many delicious pies. If you're in the mood for a spot of tea or coffee, we have many varieties from around the world.

Pull up a cushy armchair and enjoy your food and drink as you read from our large selection of novels. The books are yours to read as long as you like, we just ask that you return them when you're done so that someone else may enjoy them. Just leave the little card from the inside of the book in the little box at the counter if you'd like to borrow one. :)

Today's specials are garlic chicken pot pie, garlic mashed potatoes, garlicky schezuan green beans, and roasted garlic french bread.

The pie of the day is boysenberry.

Oh, thank goodness! A place to get coffee in this stinky town! I'm in desperate need of some caffeine, and the only thing around here seemed to be booze. :giggle:

What can I get you, Stef? Our coffee menu today is:

House Blend (regular or decaf)
Breakfast Blend
French Roast

I'm also testing out a seasonal spiced pumpkin flavored coffee.

Please leave the card in that little recipe box by the register there. And you can go curl up in any of the fluffy armchairs over there while you read. I won't rush you out. :)

Becky, today I've got brownies and chocolate chip scones. Just let me know what you'd like and whether you'd like it warmed up. :)

Great shop. I think I'm going to open up a shop next to (or maybe connected to) yours. This is your warning. Shopping at my place while sipping coffee would be perfect.

I'll be a good neighbor, promise. :)

Nichole
October 2nd, 2006, 02:09 PM
Thanks, Brandi. I'll remember the icing next time.

Excellent! Welcome to the neighborhood, Stacey! :) I look forward to checking out your place.

You know what this town could use? A good shoe store. Oh, and a good place to get some clothes. I hate having to drive to the next town for that stuff.

Bridget
October 2nd, 2006, 02:16 PM
Nichole, I was just popping by to say "hello" when I heard the strangest sounds outside. It made my blood run cold. Have you heard if there have been any wolf sightings in town during the day?

Do you have a delivery boy? I need some lattes!!!!!!!!!

gulp!
October 2nd, 2006, 02:17 PM
:errr: wolves? That's not good for the bunny hutch I keep at the Inn.

Bev
October 2nd, 2006, 03:47 PM
I have some clothes at the general store Nichole. The black keeps selling out but I do have some in stock. :)

I would like a hot tea and boysenberry pie. I've never had boysenberry pie before. I'm not even sure what a boysenberry is!

Nichole
October 2nd, 2006, 03:51 PM
Wolves?! I haven't heard anything about wolves, Bridget! :errr: I hope that's just a rumor!

No delivery boy yet, but it's looking like I'd better get one! Competition is getting stiff around here - I see a new coffee shop opened down the street. I hope it won't take my customers away. :(

Bev, I will be right back with your pie. I've got one that's just about ready to come out of the oven if you'd like to wait for it. Boysenberries are very similar to blackberries, but they're more plump and juicy.

Nichole

I think all strange disturbances like the one Brydgyt heard should be reported to the police. Should someone start a police blotter?

No delivery boy yet, but it's looking like I'd better get one! Competition is getting stiff around here - I see a new coffee shop opened down the street. I hope it won't take my customers away. :(

greetings, Nichole! Keep meaning to introduce myself to you! I'm Lena, the ownder of StarDust Coffee(mainly gourmet coffees and a few scone pastries) and Home&Beyond store... We opened up on the corner of Circus Street and Orchid Lane, so we are actually clear across town from you, so no worries, I'm not here to steal your customers... this way, we can both serve the needs of our precious OUALville coffee-drinking customers....

I did hear that you serve some yummy pie here!! Is Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake on the menu today? And a cup of Earl Grey tea, please!

Nichole

Hello, Lena! Thanks for dropping by to say hi! I'm happy to hear that we shouldn't be in too much competition with each other. :) I do try to offer a nice range of coffees and teas, but my bigger focus is my food and providing a nice cozy place for people to congregate.

Maybe we could possibly work on a partnership? We could probably get a good deal on regional coffees and teas if we order together. And I could provide some of your baked goods if you'd like.

Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake? It's not on the menu today, but I may have a slice or two in the freezer that I could get out just for you. :) I'll get your tea started while I get that cheesecake, OK?

Ok, your tea!

Cream, milk, and sugar are over in the corner there if you take them.

Oh, Nichole, that sounds great!! I'll be waiting for that tea and cake right over here...

A partnership would be wonderful! I have a couple of GREAT suppliers for coffee, but nothing going on with pastries/cakes. I was going to bake them myself every morning, but recently, I decided to also open up a Home&Beyond store, since our new building has more than adequate room in it! Have you seen it? It's the estate of the late Frank Kozumello (have you heard about his mysterious death??? I couldn't talk much about it in the official response to an email in my own shop, but I hear all kinds of strange details of how he died...screams that ppl heard....blood on the door frame....)

Anyway, the Home&Beyond store will focus on serving our citizens' needs in anything related to their homes and there will also be a huge baby department, all kinds of strollers, baby gear and free recommendations. We will also have a baby registry!

Perhaps we could work something out where you could move to our new estate building, and we could conserve efforts to run the operation together? I think I have more room for the coffee shop than you do in here... My location is excellent, too (Circus st and Orchid Lane), and I'm just down the street (2 bldgs down) from Deb's Bar, and you know how high the traffic is there!!! What do you think? Perhaps, you can run the coffee shop part of it, and I could run the Home/Baby store?

The two wings overlook the courtyard and the coffee shop and a Home/Baby store would be perfectly located here! If you would run the coffee shop, this would free up more of my time to go hunt for great strollers, bedding and home gadgets!

Yes, poor Frank. :disbelief Very odd circumstances there...

Nichole, of course! If it doesn't work out, that's fine. I will still help you with my vendors if you'd rather stay in your location. I will send you a portfolio of nearby attractions we have, so you have something to think about. I have a moving service getting some furniture for us tomorrow, so if you do decide to move, we can get it all done at once. We can keep the name as you like......here is another idea for a name, too:

Thanks, Lena. I think I'm going to pass; I'm really attached to this place. It was my granny's before it was mine, so it wouldn't feel right to leave it behind. Too many good memories here. :)

I'd be happy to provide all of your pastries and baked goods if you'd like to let go of that responsibility at your place. I make a wonderful sourdough and my scones are rich and delicious. :)

Howdy, friends! I'm sorry I'm so behind! I've been tending to my sick one. We just heard that it's not strep, so that's good. :)

Sorry to hear about your little one. He didn't catch it from anyone I'm watching, did he?

Maybe I'll just have a chicken salad sandwich. Got any of those lying around?

Hilary
October 3rd, 2006, 04:24 PM
Yummy! Thanks!

Nichole
October 3rd, 2006, 04:31 PM
I hope not, Darcy. It's not a fun bug. :( I was able to whip up a sandwich with some of the leftover chicken from making pot pies. I put a side of minced garlic next to it just in case you need extra. :)

Oops, there isn't any garlic in the sandwich, is there? It gives the little guy gas pretty bad, so I've been cutting it out of my diet since I'm still nursing. There isn't any in the sandwich is there?

Nichole
October 3rd, 2006, 04:37 PM
Oh no, not in the sandwich. Just on the side. Do you want me to take it from you? Just hand it to me, please.

Darcy

On the side is fine. Just didn't want to overload on the garlic. Thanks, Nichole.

Do you think we could revisit our conversation about our coffee/pastries partnership? I would love to put in an order for your pastries for my evening menu (starting at 6 pm)... Oh, and i'm expecting a coffee shipment tomorrow, did you want any of my Arabica coffees?

Nichole

Nichole, where are you getting your chocolate from? My supplier seems to be missing or at least he's slow to deliver the goods!

I had a :catfight: in the store last night over the last chocolate bar! I hope to have a delivery tomorrow morning otherwise things could get tense in OUALville what with the vampires and the lack of chocolate! Pretty scary stuff on their own, but together, fugghedaboudit!

Nichole, we missed you and the delivery of the coffee today at the PAWS event. What happened last night that got you hung up???

So far, the event is a great success with rave reviews for your goods (not to mention the special punch we have). Nichole, you must try and come by the event yourself - we are having a very special guest come by to discuss a highly specialized breed of attack dog!!! Perfect for everyone, in light of the tragic events befalling our fair city.

Would you be able to supply some light refreshments for OUALville's AA meeting? Please let me know.

Thanks.

I'm terribly sorry, Sandy. I tried to coordinate that delivery with someone, but I guess she didn't show. :( Everyone's just so skittish these days, you don't know who to trust anymore.

What happened last night? Oh, just an unexpected meeting with someone. Nothing major... I'm not sure I'll be able to make it to your event today. Still tending to a sick kid and well, I'm not a big dog person. :shuffle:

Lynn, of course! Let me know what you need. :)

Nichole....I hope that the Pie in the Sky will be able to handle the increase in business as the diner switches to an italian lunch and dinner menu.

If you need additional help at lunch, I would be more than willing to help interview candidates...reliable help is sooo hard to find these days.

Nichole, the pastries you sent were a huge hit last night. The customers just ate them up alive! I will definitely need more tonight. Could we also coordinate a bigger menu- I may be hosting a memorial service for Hilary at 9 pm, and will need sandwiches and other more substantial foods? let me know, otherwise i have to crack on that cooking!

I hope you don't mind that I was a little careless and overpoured the Bailey's a bit. ;)
Ha! You've known me long enough to know the answer to that. ;)

Yes, the cut-off platter.

What's it like? Is it a butter pastry or a fried one?

I figured as much, Stacey. :toast:

Nichole! I heard the news this morning. I am so sorry to hear about your death. A bit like a horror movie scenario though, wasn't it? Haven't you seen enough of those? I will blame the poor judgment on the spirits you had consumed that night over at Debs.

So, does this mean no espresso this morning????

I almost feel like I am to blame :blue: If I didn't keep serving you guys Sangria's and shots then maybe you would still be here! :bawl:

Sandy

Free will, Deb. Free will. Knowing those two  they would have gotten it from somewhere else, if not from you. At least we know they couldn't really feel any pain when they got attacked.:nana:

Stacey

Meh, Deb, it was our choice to get drunk. We had a hell of a night. Sandy's right, we were feeling no pain.

Thanks again for the fun night at your place.

Nichole
October 9th, 2006, 10:31 AM
Hey Deb, no worries. Like Sandy said, I would have found it somewhere. I'm just glad it was at your place and that I didn't have to go alone. No pain, baby.

Pie in the Sky will remain open as a help yourself place like it was just before my death. I will probably be too busy to wait on everyone because I'll be back in the kitchen gorging myself on cheesecake and whatever I feel like eating. No calories when you're dead! :woo:

Sandy
October 9th, 2006, 10:35 AM
Hey! Tell me if you can still taste stuff when you are dead!!

Stacey
October 9th, 2006, 10:39 AM
Yes, you can still taste, Sandy. And guilt-free tastes like you wouldn't believe!

Nichole and I will be pigging out in the back of her shop. Come over and let me know if y'all need anything next door at the scrap shop.

Nichole
October 10th, 2006, 10:38 AM
No tasks, Deb. You just have to serve yourself because the proprietor is now dead and lazy and gorging herself. You can come back into the kitchen and join me if you'd like. I'm currently working on polishing off a german chocolate cake. :lick: Oh, and a strawberry rhubarb pie, thanks to Stacey. (come on back for some, Stacey. It's nice and tart. :lick: )
