My 3 week old has decided no naps! He will catnap for 15 minutes at a time or he will fall asleep on a walk or in my arms, but the basinet is right out. Everything works sometimes for a little while: one day the vibrating chair is fab, the next it sends him into hysterics; sometimes swaddling, sometimes rocking, sometimes singing, sometimes the swing. But nothing works with any consistency or for very long. All he seems to want to do is nurse and sleep in my arms.

Any advice? I need to be able to brush my teeth and return a few phone calls.

Do you have a sling or any other babywearing technique? Some babies just require a TON of contact

I don't know, Fisher Price swing worked for us... It was the only thing that worked... I just nursed her and she started to fall asleep and then I put her in the swing. It worked for us... Or the car ride! :)

My daughter was like this too. She loved to nap in the pouch sling or the bouncy on vibrate.

Both of my boys were like this. The Moby wrap saved my life with Gavin. He slept like a little kitten all bundled up and I was able to get some things done! :aok:

I think it just takes them a while to get used to being on the outside after being so snug and bunched up inside of you for so long. A sling or pouch or wrap helps replicate that environment and you get your hands free. Win win! :)

My son loved the sling but my daughter hated it from the very beginning. She always started screaming on top of her lungs, kicking and trying to reach me from there, it was awful also because I remembered how much my son, her brother loved that sling... But it did not work for her. And no Baby Bjorn either-she did not like it.

The best advice I can give is to make sure you don't get him to the overtired stage, at that age they pretty much wake up, eat, change a nappy then back to sleep. Tight, Tight swaddling, if the bassinet is too big maybe packing it up with rolled towels to give the illusion of being held can help. Even putting a rag with your breastmilk on it near his face so he can smell "you".

Good luck
